This is definitely the perspective of a non-local. Yes, our mountains are beautiful.... but for those of us from Sevier, Emery and Carbon, our sleepy little towns, non-Switzerland-like landscapes, and the human and industrial power behind our coal industry are too. There's nothing more beautiful than "home" and for many of us here, it has been home for four or five generations. The landscapes and coal industry are our culture and heritage... and its a beautiful life that few on the Wasatch Front will ever understand. Sadly, many of the tourists (and yes men peddling through on bikes) do not understand or respect this-- moved to make assessments of a place he's just "discovered" and, perhaps in an attempt to add some sort of literary flavor to the discription, the reporter writes as if our mountains are the pristine climax of a terrain that only settles back into the disappointment of coal trucks and brown hues. A little offensive, I think...
