Interesting comment. Have you heard the hate-filled vitriol targeted at President Bush and other republicans by many Democrats?
I'd agree that there is too much hate to go around, but there is also too much naivete as well as too much greed and desire to control others. My left-wing friend think they know best for me. My right-wing friend as well. My wing-less friends (allegedly neither left or right) want to tax and regulate me, but can't decide on a cohesive agenda. Can't I just be left alone? What's the point of living in America when we have lost our liberties.
Someone once told me, give Americans their sexual liberties and they won't notice when all other liberties have been taken away. Unfortunately, that appears to be more true than I'd like to admit.

McCain and Obama are the two sides of the same coin. There isn't a lick of
difference between them, and Romney is the same. At one time the Republicans
were for small and limited government, but that's been destroyed but
"King" George Bush and his ilk. Welcome to the "Fascist Police
State" thanks to the Republicans in office. Both of our Senators have voted
to continue the illegal spying on American Citizens and providing protection to
the Corporations that aided the Government in doing so. The greatest threat to
the USA isn't from terrorist but from OUR own Government. Now, if Iran is
attacked by Bush or Israel expect the price of oil to double or triple in price,
all thanks to the Neocons and the lobbyist in Congress and all the other
traitors who "Public" office.

This was a great event! I was awesome to seehow many people showed up, I would
guess there was close 300 if not more people there! It was great to see so many
young and old people united for change!Good change is happening in Utah and its

Stupid college kids need to review history and see that this "change"
is a repeat of stuff most of us in our fifties already lived through at the
hands of the previous dems. DON'T VOTE FOR OBAMA. Check his voting record
and see what he stands for. He is the worst possible thing for this country.

I know the mobilization of the left scares you all to death but the majority of
these comments are ridiculous! After seeing the clear absence of rational
thought on these comment boards (Cherilyn Bacon Eagar, I'm looking at you)
I can't wait to tell all my friends how open minded and intelligent the
readership of the Des News is.

It seems like you crazy right wingers are more about attacking Obama than giving
people a good reason to vote for John McCain. That didn't work for
Democrats in 2004 and it isn't going to work for Republicans this year -

You know you are doing something right when you stir up so much controversy over
a simple little barbeque! I was there and would like to thank you for such a
wonderful event and it gives me great hope for the future of our country to see
smart, well informed young people are out there doing what your doing, keep it

Oh man, I just threw up a little reading these comments. If this is really what
you people think it scares me for the future of our country...although I take
solace in knowing that the extremists are always the vocal ones, and the
down-to-Earth moderates don't waste their time engaging in pointless
garbage such as this.
These comments (almost) make be believe in restricting voting rights, for anyone who seriously believes the garbage spewing from these comments pages should have no voice in our political process. You're only poisoning the dialogue and add nothing but vile, ideological, and poorly-researched hatred to our sacred system.

sites. She claims to have done all this "research" but fails to
actually critically think about her findings.
She hates vouchers, the IB program is Anti-American, and now public ed is the culprit for societies ills. What is your solution, Ms Eager? Nothing but private education where only the rich attend? Yes, I can see why you think that is the best solution. Let's increase this divide between the haves and the have-nots and hopefully, one day, THOSE people will doing my laundry and yardwork.
No wonder you don't want Obama for president. The current administration's plan of this elite society is just starting to take way. You fear Change and how it will impact you rather than society. That is the biggest difference between Republicans and democrats. Republicans want what's in the best interest of themselves, Democrats want what's in the best of interest of all.

What make me laugh is how people use the Neither candidate is any good excuse.

You see what I have finally realized is that we could afford to take care of America, but we are broke. Why because we spend $500 billion on defense; fighting wars, building bases all over the world, supporting the Military Industrial Complex.
Can you not see that the Military needs engagement to make themselves useful? They are the biggest form of Socialism we have. Look at all the profiteers, the massive sounds of our country being sucked dry.
All you conservative that quote the founders, where are you on the case that the founders never never never wanted a Standing Army?
This Nation is on a course to destruction. We spend more then we make, we outsource the best jobs, we fail to reinvest in our own futures.

failed war! There was nothing that could have been done to fix the mess Johnson
and Nixon created.
The whole point is that when we get offensive in war we end up with a bankrupt system and inflation out the nose.
Carter implemented mandates that would have solved our energy concerns. Reagan and the Bush's shelfed them.
We are in the exact same position now, a war that is breaking the bank, a government that can't stop spending, and the consumer who is in debt up to his eyebrows.
WAKE UP! $500 billion a year to expand the empire while the interior of the Empire decays.

A failed war started by a demo.
This 'war' is keeping us safe. Since 9/11, no terror attacks on the US.
