Great nucleus of a winning team, but it may be time now to trade Hart and Collins. Neither really contributed anything to any game last year. Everyone else has potential to help win. The newbies all have potential.

The best thing C.J. Miles could do is go ahead and play in the review, hoping some other team will see him and go there. He will play very little in Utah with sloans attitude about young players.
Anonymous | 8:21 a.m. June 29, 2008
"Sloan's attitude about young players"?? You mean like Ronnie Brewer starting role last year...as a sophomore in the league?

Review is his audition | 8:57 a.m. June 29, 2008
Playing in the Review is his audition. If he catches the eye of other teams he will likely get an offer for more and the Jazz either have to let him go or match it. For the Jazz the Review should be the chance to let Miles and Almond show them who really has the chance to be a long term player on this team. Of course Miles would likely go into the Review without excepting the Jazz offer and does risk injury. If he is injured he is stuck with the Jazz offer for one year.
Jimmy's Sneakers | 9:09 a.m. June 29, 2008
Jimmy is ready to let Miles go and give his minutes to Almond or Price.

Perhaps we can sign and trade Miles and Hart and/or Collin's expiring contract for a backup for DWill.
Sorry excuse | 9:16 a.m. June 29, 2008
I wonder if CJ or his agent ever heard of the term "insurance". He could insure himself against injury and go ahead and play. Then again, he could also sit out, pout and, come October, feel sorry for himself for getting intimate with the pine.
From the little I've seen, CJ has real potential. Harpring will not last much longer and you never know where AK will wind up in a season or two. If I were CJ, I would give the Jazz two more seasons and then see where things are headed.
Go C.J. | 9:24 a.m. June 29, 2008
C.J. Miles is the class of the field at the 2 guard position. The sooner Sloan realizes this the better. Its time to stop the head games and treat C.J. like a man. He will respond mark my word.
Lo Porto | 9:39 a.m. June 29, 2008
Miles has tons of potential, and I hope he stays with Utah. He will be a good player. In two years, Harpring will be gone when Miles will be only 23. Miles is 6'8", can play the 2 or 3, is a proven shooter/slasher, and knows the Jazz system. We need to trade AK ASAP for obvious financial reasons. When we trade AK, Miles will be even more important to the present and future. Add in that he is Deron's best buddy, I think we need to keep him around for that reason too.
Learn from last year's mistake | 9:46 a.m. June 29, 2008
Dear C.J,

Please learn from last year's mistake and play in the Revue. You need to start the season is the best shape possible and, let's face it, it took you nearly half the season to get into shape.

You seem to have an upside that has surfaced here and there. If you want BIG money, then set the table for it by coming out shooting the lights out, defending like no other and you will get the money.

Sincerely,

Jazz Nation

It's my opinion that when a player is young, he has to take a few chances and play as much as possible. Even without a contract. When C J Miles didnt play in the rocky mtn revue last year it didnt do him any good. All these other players were playing and getting better. Remember he is just a few years out of high school. If he was a seasoned veteran, then I could buy that excuse. He's still trying to prove himself. Sloan will play you if you have proven to him that you deserve to play. So far C J Miles hasn't. If I remember right, C J Miles has had a chance to start but didn't do anything so was yanked from starting line up. Based on what I just read, the jazz offered him a $200,000 raise. Not bad for a guy that hardly played in the games.
Spock | 10:11 a.m. June 29, 2008
I think CJ has an edge over Almond, CJ can play some defense. Almond has better trade value considering he shot lights out in the dleague and i think was the leading scorer in the league. CJ has long arms and can sometimes play small forward or shooting guard. C'mon Jazz try to work out a trade for Marion, give up a combination of AK, Hart, Almond and Fesenko.
Paymon | 11:06 a.m. June 29, 2008
Marion has already said he will not come to utah so it is pointless to even talk about him. and besides he is a me first kind of guy like boozer where nothin counts but the benjamins.
Anonymous | 11:11 a.m. June 29, 2008
Sloan believes in the player's ability, not the player's experience. Sloan played Millsap & Dee Brown (both rookies) during the playoffs last year. Sloan played Morris and Fes this year in the regular season.
Anonymous, you're a scared guy that's afraid to back up his opinion (hence Anonymous).

Cj should play in the summer. Brewer got better during the summer.
Boise Bill | 12:56 p.m. June 29, 2008
CJ- please work on your defense. There is not question you can shoot. Someone has to stop Kobe and McGrady from going around the defender.
jAzzfan | 2:16 p.m. June 29, 2008
I think if the jazz had a SG that can drive to the whole. kobe or t-mac would be less effective be cause they would have to play defense. But I hope CJ stays. He does have A LOT of potential. But if he deosnt want to stay I can't wait to see Mr. Almond Joy finally get some minutes.
Jazz Fan in Michigan | 2:44 p.m. June 29, 2008
CJ is probably a better scorer than Brewer, but Brewer plays better defense and that's where our team really lacks: guarding the SG of the other team. Whoever can step up and play defense, that's who should be in there. We have plenty of scorers. We need stoppers.
Rich | 2:56 p.m. June 29, 2008
The Jazz need more defense and more consistent outside shooting. I would like to see CJ back but with a bit of an attitude. His happy go lucky attitude is fun, but he needs to be meaner. He needs a killer instinct -- to be thinking, "I'm going to take you out of your game." Then CJ would double his minutes. He's a good shooter -- he finally proved that this past season. We could use more shooters -- I would love to see Almond come in with a defensive stopper attitude, and then we could enjoy his beautiful shooting form, too. And I would like to see Jaycee Carrol in a Jazz uniform. He's one of the finest long-range shooters I've ever seen, even when he is guarded closely. The guy hustles constantly, is a team-first guy, is teachable and is a lights-out free throw shooter (92% last year). He can drive to the hole and throw up tear drops. He can pass. He can defend because he is willing to work. If the Jazz don't get him, they'll someday regret it. He can even rebound because he has a 40-inch vertical.

I think CJ is a great talent. I really hope we keep him around. My wish is to get rid of AK47 SOON!!!! Ride out Harpring as long as we can and CJ will be able to step right in and fill the gap. I think this guy is legit as an all around player and I hope we don't blow it with him.
CJ Fan | 4:18 p.m. June 29, 2008
So about youth, Jerry will let youth play, as long as they play in his system. As of last year Ronnie Brewer started and so did D-will, both very young players, and ya'll need to remember that Utah was the 6th youngest team in the league. That says something for youth. Ronnie B is a great asset. He played well for us last year, but CJ has a much bigger chance of being something special. If he works his butt off, like Ronnie B did last year, than he has the chance of starting. You forget that he started a handfull of games when Ronnie B or AK were out. Kyle Korver and Harpring are gonna stay coming off the bench for now, so really the only people he has to deal with are Ronnie B and Mo Almond. CJ has the best potential of being a defensive stopper and has a sweet stroke. If he does his thing, expect greatness from him.
Shaybo | 4:22 p.m. June 29, 2008
If the Jazz screw around and lose CJ they are idiots period.
sparks24 | 5:41 p.m. June 29, 2008
I they Jazz let CJ Miles go they will live to see it come in their face. This kid has mass ability and this would be a MAJOR error by the Jazz front office. You better match any offer this kid gets
CJ plays no "D". | 6:36 p.m. June 29, 2008
Miles couldn't stop me and I'm a fat, slow, ground-bound ward baller. He could sure light me up for points anytime he wanted, though.
Anonymous | 8:00 p.m. June 29, 2008
CJ is better than korver. Lets get rid of him
Bigjazzfan | 10:17 p.m. June 29, 2008
YOu keep players like AK, CJ miles, who can play basketball.

YOu get of rid players who are limited like boozer, korver, brewer.
IdahoJazzFan | 7:49 a.m. June 30, 2008
Let CJ go. He is too selfish to play in a summer league to make himself better. He will never be a star in the NBA. At best, he will be a role player somewhere and I am sure that the Jazz can find a dozen of them that want to get better.
Hollywood | 9:09 a.m. June 30, 2008
So Kevin and Jerry are playing the same game they did last season: expecting CJ to show up at the RMR even though he doesn't have a contract - just the QO.

If CJ signs the QO, it's guaranteed money, but he loses any chance he has of getting a bigger offer. If he doesn't sign - and gets hurt, the Jazz can rescind the offer.

Tough decision for CJ. If I were in his shoes, I'd be asking my agent to get me the best deal out there with another team.

Love the Jazz, but they're really jerking this kid around. Kevin and Jerry need to stop the power trip and mind games. If they want CJ to be a part of the team, just man up and get a deal done. Or tell him to find the best deal out there and they'll agree not to match an offer in return for a late first, early second pick.

Regret | 9:41 a.m. June 30, 2008
If the Jazz let this kid go they will regret it for many years to come. When he gets his chance he shows flashes of brilliance. Dump Hart and Collins, get this kid some PT and see what he can do. He is long, athletic can shoot and is only 21.
MADRYBEG | 9:49 a.m. June 30, 2008
I hope he isn't pondering too deeply about the Revue. He didn't show up last year and look where it got him. He needs to show commitment to the Jazz and the community he is willing to put in the time.
Moto X | 10:18 a.m. June 30, 2008
People lamenting CJ not getting a chance...if I recall a couple of seasons ago CJ started the season at 2 guard. He could not throw it in the ocean. 20 games in Sloan had no choice but to put Fisher in to plug the defensive lapses and make some baskets..and that is scary considering Fisher is not that great of a shooter.

All of you lamenting what the Jazz have DONE TO CJ vs. what the Jazz have DONE FOR CJ. They have dumped millions into this kid and continue to do so. The Jazz originally signed him to a 2 year GUARANTEED contract when he was drafted in the second round!!

What this whole process essentially shows is that CJ should have gone to Texas and played College hoops. Instead the Jazz have payed millions to keep him around and give him an opportunity to succeed in the NBA. The Jazz is a business and has to be run as such. Any other team may not have been as patient as the Jazz have.

I think he is talented and I hope he succeeds but he needs to be able to consistenly perform at both ends of the floor.
CJ fan | 10:32 a.m. June 30, 2008
We need to keep CJ here. When he gets minutes, he produces. The more shooters we have on the floor, the better it is for everyone (Booz, Memo, D-Will). The Jazz need to get rid of Harpring and let CJ play the 3 and 2 on occasion. At this point, Harpring is a liability on the court and CJ would be a big upgrade. Bring Korver and CJ off the bench for AK and Brewer and there won't be any dropoff since both can shoot.
byron | 11:12 a.m. June 30, 2008
CJ is an asset, he may be buried on the depth chart but he's getting better every year, he's 21 years old, he has good size for a two, can shoot, and is athletic. Bottom line is he has good value, we can't let him go for nothing. Harpring is getting older and both CJ and Korver can play the 3. The Jazz should match any reasonable offer.
TODD | 1:34 p.m. June 30, 2008
CJ IS ANOTHER SHANDON ANDERSON OR KIRK SNYDER AT BEST. LET MO ALMOND PLAY FOR HECK SAKE. AT LEAST HE WORKS HIS BUTT OF IN THE DL. CJ IS LAZY AND WON'T EVEN PLAY IN THE REVUE.
jazz fan | 2:15 p.m. June 30, 2008
get ride of him
Buckeye Fan | 3:13 p.m. June 30, 2008
The reason Sloan is still talking about CJ not coming to camp last year in shape is because he see's the potential there. If there wasn't a chance CJ could move into the rotation then Sloan wouldn't waste the words talking about it. Underneath all this, I feel Sloan is trying to tell CJ something...'come into camp as the best conditioned player and you'll see your minutes increase.' CJ always seems to come out of the gate but then disappear. Could it be the legs?
Boise, Ut | 4:15 p.m. June 30, 2008
Keep C.J. Send Almond on his way.

Hart & Collins gotta go, even if the Toyota dealer has to eat a mill or two.
Anonymous | 8:08 p.m. June 30, 2008
Almond can score and has proven it outside of sky high.If he gets a chance he will be a good player.Josh Smith was his teammate at Mcceahern in Ga. in high school and Almond was the man(if Almond wouldnt have blown out his knee in the state playoffs he would have went to a much bigger school and probably seen bigger money and would be playing more.)Teams like Philadelphia would love to see someone on their roster with a jumpshot like Mr. Almond's
Double R | 8:11 p.m. June 30, 2008
Anonymous post above with high school reference was mine didnt want yall to think i was scared to give a name.Miles is not a shooter and Brewer is a nice piece but does not have the potential of Almond.
I love Cj | 9:06 p.m. June 30, 2008
I love Cj he is tied as my favorite player! He brings so much to the team on and off the court! We need to keep him or else we will regret it.
Anonymous | 10:48 p.m. June 30, 2008
I think CJ has the right combination of shooting ability and athleticisim to eventually beat out Brewer and Korver. CJ has the skills, but can he put it together in the near future? I just hope he won't leave and get good on another team. At least we have Mo Almond to fall back on.
keep CJ | 1:36 a.m. July 1, 2008
seriously......he contributes more than anyone off the bench (millsap exception), get's no minutes whatsoever, shoots and plays defense better than ronnie brewer, and AK and matt need to go......
STEVE-O | 12:43 p.m. July 1, 2008
I find it funny that everybody says the Jazz "better not let CJ go" or that we'll regret it. CJ could be really good, but doesn't care to put in the work!
Last year we had this SAME situation and guess what.... nobody else in the NBA showed any interest in CJ Miles!! He's not as good as you people think. His feelings get hurt to easily, and his confidence goes down like a rock whenever he makes a mistake.
If Miles can adjust his attitude this year and play in the review and work hard like EVERY OTHER PLAYER on the Jazz team, then keep him. If not then let him see what else he can get.
If DWill played in the review last year CJ Miles certainly should have!
yo | 4:22 p.m. July 2, 2008
dwill didnt play in tha review
Vernon | 2:26 p.m. July 7, 2008
Sloan is the wrong coach for CJ and Salt Lake is the wrong city for this fine young man with excellent basketball skills. I hope he gets an offer fron another team and Please Utah do not match the offer..... CJ needs to know he will play every game and not just when sloan is mad at someone else....
A.J.T. | 1:13 p.m. July 10, 2008
I think that if CJ will stop being so over whelmed by meeting all these superstars he can play pretty good inside of all of his games that he play instead of just averging 5.0 points for the whole season and 0.9 assist, how can you do that its either an assist or its not. But he's not superstar material yet ill give him about 5 more seasons, unless he proves himself this season coming!!!!!!!!!!!!

Utah's C.J. Miles, left, steals the ball from Houston's Tracy McGrady during this year's first-round playoff series.
