Hibbert is a must...I think they should put somebody
in the deal to make sure they get him...
The P.J. Brown end of year pick up was good...Jazz
should be proactive and get a vet..
We might have to many clunkers...Okur, slow.
Boozer soft...Kirilenko..Russia's answer to
Dennis Rodman..without the rebounding ability..
Collins no...
Millsap is our great hope for being a tough guy...
We need a Utah Kendrick Perkins, Kurt Rambis
type...
First, we have a great young Jazz team! We only lack a couple of key items. In other words no crazy trades you hear talked about. Let's not break a team thats really good & getting better. We do have some needs though. Our biggest need is size/length/defensive presence. Sounds an awful lot like Roy Hibbert (a true 7ft 2, 280 pounds guy) doesn't it? I don't think there is anyone out there that fits our needs so well. He brings sizeabout the biggest guy on the court not named Shaq; he has good mobility; a good passer, good hands and most importantly-- a true intimidating shot blocking presence. Unfortunately, I have heard that Roy has been demolishing other bigs in try-outs. We need to move up to the 15-17 range to get Roy as it looks like hell be gone at 23. I hope were thinking of packaging picks (future?) & perhaps Jason Hart/Jason Collins and move up. I think Fesenko needs another year at Orem, but Roy is pretty much NBA-ready! With Okur and Fesenko, we would have a terrific assortment of bigs--diverse/talented skill set for the coaches (inside/outside scoring, passing, shot blocking, length/size, toughness, defense)
We cant afford this team for much longer. So at some point in the next yr AK has to go. Because I would much rather keep Brewer, Millsap and Miles then AK and his bloated contract.
I like Roy, but I also dont think we have to trade up and get him. If he falls to us, then great, if he doesnt there is Thompson, Ajinca, Speights and Lopez that we hope is there.
Jazz dont have the picks to move up. We owe phila one and they probably will get that next yr or 2010 at the latest.
i've been a jazz fan since pistol pete was traded from the Hawks in 1972.i've been a die hard jazz fan through the lean years of new orleans to the ealry years in utah.then came john & karl & jazz fans have been spoiled for 23 years (pistol pete's L.S.U. jersey #).....the only thing the team is missing from winning multiple championships is a big man in the middle who they'll get with the #23 pick in the draft (there's that # 23 again); pls utah no 6'10 or 6'11 guy, a true center like we had over 20 yrs. ago in Mark Eaton (7'4)....utah challenged the great Lakers back then because he was a force in the middle.Mark even gave karrem abdul a real tuff time setting up on the block.a force in the middle disrupts alot of diffenent things the other team tries to do.besides height, weight means alot.THE GUY MUST BE 260 OR BETTER.finally we need leadership & tuffness.RAJA BELL is the final piece.utah needs somebody to stop kobe, manu, and tracy in the years ahead.utah has no perimeter shut-down player.when in utah,RAJA PLAYED 2 REALLY good yrs.RAJA BELL IS THE MISSING PIECE TO A CHAMPIONSHIP...
rick, Raja Bell?? I was thinking DeShawn Stevenson, or maybe Carlos Arroyo were the key ingredients to a championship in Utah.
your kidding me with carlos arroyo, right. HE had the same problem as giricek did with sloan
Ya, I'm kidding about Arroyo AND Stevenson. But I do wish we still had Kris Humphries, Sasha Pavlovic, and Rafael Araujo. Please don't ask if I'm kidding about these scrubs.
It is clear by the above entry that the Jazz staff clearly know what talent is because look at those names who have come through the doors of the Utah Jazz. If Hibbert is back again than clearly the Jazz are serious about him. I see very little downside to drafting Hibbert. I think he could end up being a vital piece but and I do mean But, I dont think just by adding his name to the roster we are championship contenders. We need to do something with Hart, Collins, and Harping for a Tuff shut down perimiter defender. When the Jazz add that We will Finally Bring It Home.
Are you serious? How can you say that carlos arroyo and deshawn stevenson are better for the Jazz than Raja Bell? First of all, deshawn and carlos didn't help a whole lot. Second, their careers aren't fantastic, especially right now in the present. Raja Bell was absolutely electric when he played for the Jazz! When he left, that put a big dent in our ability to play for the next couple of years. What we need is to do absolutely horrible this year so we can have the #1 pick....(haha, jk)
What we really need right now is a veteran center. Somebody like a P.J. Brown or Marcus Camby, somebody who is really scrappy and works their tails off.
Finally, I'd like to say that the Jazz should definitely take Roy Hibbert. The guy is perfect in the Half-Court set that the jazz have. Even if you have to trade up for him, it's worth it.
