Cannon is at best a second rate congressman, while Chaffetz is the embodiment of opportunism.
I've never voted Dem, but Hey, DesNews, could you maybe tell us who the Democrats are running in the 3rd?
The claim was made the Cannon voted for NAFTA. He did not. If you have bothered to follow the NAFTA issue at all there is a strong desire to modify provisions of it that would address concerns raised. I also Cannon supports that.
If what you want is a protectionist Congressman you can have them. They are called Democrats or populist Republicans, which is Chaffetz for certain.
Have you ever read any books by some of the great conservative economic minds? Friedman, Smith, Rothbart, Mises, Ricardo, etc?
Pat Buchandan doesn't count, he is Americas modern day Malthaus.
"No, no...eight years is long enough. I don't need another job in Washington."
Oh that Hatch, Bennet, Cannon, and all the other professional politicians and staffers would choose to return to private life, but sadly they won't. They stay too long and have nothing to which they can return. They become parasites rather than producers.
The Republican party is in great need of some thoughtful introspection and recognition of their serious errors. It won't happen with the incumbents that fell asleep at the conservative wheel.
Let's take the opportunity to shake things up while there is still something left to shake up.
Even if we could deport all 14 million illegals or however many there are, we would also be deporting all the tax base and GNP contributions of these people. Without their contributions to the GNP, a lot of professionals would lose their jobs supporting this production. And either taxes would increase for the rest of us to make up for the tax base we deported, or services would drastically be cut, or both. Hate to break it to the racists, but Mexicans working in our country add, what, billions of dollars in tax revenue yearly? Can we really deport that, realistically? No, we can't.
When are one of these clowns going to bust out the 'satan is working against me' card?
First, this is just an anti-Cannon campaign for the vast majority.
Second, this is a stick-it-the-GOP campaign due to the poor decisions made by Bush, Rove, Rumsfeld, Chenney, etc.
Third, even the Chaffetz supporters are not thrilled with him. They hope and dream but many are beginning to realize and admit that he is clearly 2nd or 3rd rate at best. Read some of the comments from other online sources and you see this.
Fourth, it is sheer opportunism by Chaffetz. While some love him, most can see his amnesty for 20 million for what it is. Even the Salt Lake Tribune was honest enough to note his convention rhetoric is tough while his primary rhetoric is very moderate.
Fifth, as we get into the nuts and bolts of Chaffetz his liberal roots are beginning to show.
All in all, this is the guy you want to put into office?
Add he doesn't even live in the District. The height of opportunism.
If he ends of up DC see how quick his opportunism abondons you, like his internment camps at convention. You lose!
I think that most of you dimwits that hate NAFTA must have been apart of the old Union crowd, who opposed NAFTA because they saw there Union secured jobs go overseas. And all of the rest of you that hate NAFTA just hate it because you here all of the conspiracy theories about it and never look at the facts of what it has done for FREEDOM and Economic GROWTH.
