Good luck JC!!! | 12:16 a.m. June 21, 2008
You are going to need it.
And . . . . | 1:15 a.m. June 21, 2008
Who are the rest of the guys working out? We all know this history of Carroll, tell us something that is NEWS! Realllly annoying.
PurplePeopleEater | 8:19 a.m. June 21, 2008
Was that nearly 50% trey average because of a lack of good competition, or is Carroll really that good of a shooter? If he is, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Jazz pick him up.

Whether Carroll can defend other NBA 2's will have an impact, too, on whether the Jazz want him. They are loaded at 2 right now, but you don't bypass shooting talent, which is surprisingly rare in the NBA. Do the Jazz have a second round pick this year?

I've only see Carroll play a few times, and he seemed like a valid shooter. I doubt, though, he's real NBA material, but you never know.

Although the competition wouldn't be as good, I think I'd be more interested in watching a bunch of classy players like Carroll work their tails off day in and day out for a reasonable salary vs. paying some of the players what we do. $100 to watch one basketball game? I'm sure players like Carroll would be thrilled to earn $100k a year playing basketball for a living, and ticket prices would drop to $10.
if only.... | 8:50 a.m. June 21, 2008
Carroll played for the blessed school of byu then he would be a shoe in for the Jazz or the nba. What is realllllly annoying is byu's continuing arrogance.
Funny | 9:13 a.m. June 21, 2008
Isn't it funny to read these ridiculous blogs by stupid jerks. I will tell you all for sure that if J C would have indicated in any way that he was complating a transfer in the last two years you would have seen 2 Utah colleges go to the ends of the world to have gotten him. He more than likely won't get drafted in the NBA upcoming draft but will have a very rewarding life because of his integrity, personality, and integrity. Thats something most of you peeps only wish you had. All of the negative bloggers on this site are nothing more than a bunch of losers. Life doesn't need your kind.
Re: Funny | 10:01 a.m. June 21, 2008
You want to talk about stupidity look at how you talk. "but will have a very rewarding life because of his integrity, personality, and integrity" You only needed integrity in there once man..
@ if only... | 10:04 a.m. June 21, 2008
if only you'd write something that was relevant to the story... What is realllly annoying is a post like this that has nothing to do with anything in the story and shows your continuing lack of intelligence.

Oh, and your grandma's cookies stink! (that has about as much to do with this story as your post)

The workout is more or less just a courtesy for a local boy done good. A pat on the head & a star on the forehead.

I do agree with many, that he'll tear it up in Europe.
ZEKE | 11:00 a.m. June 21, 2008
Jaycee is a great shooter. He deserves a chance to show what he can do. Not only is he a great shooter he seems to be a great person also. I don`t think a team can have to many good outside shooters.
Sokel | 11:17 a.m. June 21, 2008
We need Hibbert...I hope they get him...Cleveland
wants him too and so does Sacramento.
AgFan | 11:36 a.m. June 21, 2008
I saw Jaycee play (in person)30 times in the last two years alone, he can shoot in the NBA! at one camp ESPN reported that he went 21 for 25 from the three point line in one of his work outs, Jaycee can shoot. The only real question is can he cover the 2 spot? That is the only real question.
Texan | 11:44 a.m. June 21, 2008
Carrol is a church ball player at best!
AnAggie | 12:03 p.m. June 21, 2008
A courtesy for a local boy? Is that also why Portland, Chicago, New Jersey, Sacramento, Detroit, the LA Clippers and Charlotte have had him in for workouts? After the Jazz he'll be working out for Denver and Milwaukee as well.

He must have lived in a lot of places to have so many rewards for a local boy done good!
Re: Texan | 12:06 p.m. June 21, 2008
He's not even hard enough to hang with the church games in SLC. That's why he was in Logan.
BYU Missed Big Time | 12:53 p.m. June 21, 2008
I'm a Cougar and we have to acknowledge that we missed big time on this great player and member of the Church. Let's not be so arrogant and idiotic to denegrate him by saying he played at USU. He would have easily started three years in Provo. I doubt he has the overall package (not enough defense or size) to make it in the NBA but he can shoot it as well as anyone and should have a long overseas career. I see him a a very poor man's Steve Nash - smallish, great on offense, hustles all over the court, but struggles to defend and get's pushed around.
Anonymous | 12:52 p.m. June 21, 2008
He will do good wherever he ends up. He will definitely be playing professional basketball though! Great guy!!!!
JC | 12:57 p.m. June 21, 2008
I certainly would much rather see JC shooting the three at the end of a quarter the Jason Hart. There is always a place for those with desire.
ID Jazz | 1:50 p.m. June 21, 2008
Lets not forget a guy named Hornacek who went late in the second round. Jaycee has a similar game to that of Horacek. Hornacek was drafted late in the second round. Be interesting to see how he does if someone invites him to a review. He definitely has the drive and will than most players and that might let him get on to some team to prove his worth. Its worked for Korver so far.
re:texan | 1:52 p.m. June 21, 2008
Not hard enough is this 1986 on 2008. how many people at your church games worked out for nba teams?I am a utah fan and I know that he is good enough to play in the nba, jaycee is a steve kerr type who will help any team win.
Mike Buys | 1:55 p.m. June 21, 2008
How can people make a comment that JC Carroll is only good enough to play church ball? To all of you that think that your all morons! Probably because you have never played the game on any competitive level. My nephew played in california for two years on the JC level and I witnessed some of his games in california, and some of the very same players he competed against played division I,and a couple are now in the NBA. Even if he is'nt drafted he will get the chance sometime down the road. He can shoot just wait and see.
Thugs | 2:43 p.m. June 21, 2008
Why would anyone want to be associated with the NBA they are just a bunch of thugs. Carroll needs to go get tatted up and become a sex offender and then maybe he will get a look from the NBA. Or maybe he can be a ref. And help fix a playoff season for whatever soap opera David Stern wants to create. PLEASE somebody bring a different pro sport to SLC. NHL NBA or NFL I hate the NBA why are we talking about it anyway.

Did you ever just once think that 98% of what people write in these comments is simply said to get you upset?

I for one enjoy making comments that I really don't necessarily feel or believe, fully knowing that some really ignorant people are going to respond.

Funny!
true aggie | 3:41 p.m. June 21, 2008
I have watch Jaycee play for years and his talent amazes me! He had the other teams best defender on him and had people constantly paying attention to his every move. I cannot remember more than 3 times where he took a shot when he was wide open. most of his shots were when he had just barely enough room to get a shot off and we were all expecting it to get blocked. Oh, and he lead his team in rebounding and he is 6' 2"! I could see him going to a team with great team defense so that all he has to do is slow down his man.
Good luck man!

I meet a lot of people and I think that the vast majority of wrong thinking people are right. Further, you'd be wrong to think I was thinking right about it.
Freshman Year | 6:29 p.m. June 21, 2008
Hahaha... Jaycee would've started for BYU for 3 years? I'd be interesting to know who BYU had 4 years ago that would've started over Jaycee in his freshman year. He was Freshman of the year that year, dropped 28 points in a game, was named the Big West Tournament MVP leading the Aggies into the Big Dance scoring 22 points over a top 20 Pacific team. He also hit 5 threes and dropped 18 points on Salim Staudamire's Arizona team th at year in the big dance. This guy would've been a bench player for BYU that year? Give me a break.

Even when BYU fans try to be nice they still come off as arrogant and uneducated.

By the way, what makes you think that BYU could've gotten him over Utah State even if they HAD recruited him out of HS? Jaycee has said many times that he wanted to come to Utah State and wouldn't have attended BYU if they had offered.
BYU Coward | 7:22 p.m. June 21, 2008
What makes you think byu is better than utah state 4 out of 5 says Utah state is the better program. By the way the WAC's 4th best team beat byu two years in a row(Boise State) The 28 points as a freshman was against byu in the marriot center
Observer | 7:37 p.m. June 21, 2008
I think it's interesting that USU fans call out BYU fans and call them arrogant. While BYU fans call out USU fans and tell them their school is weak. Back & forth, back & forth, fans from both schools aren't impressing me.

I hope your workout went well JC. You were a great college player.
Carroll can make it | 7:55 p.m. June 21, 2008
Players like Carroll can play in the NBA with the right team. He will make it in the big time.
Cougar in Texas | 10:09 p.m. June 21, 2008
I'll honestly state that I wish that BYU would have had Carroll for four years. I think he probably would have starred there for probably four years. It doesn't hurt to acknowledge that other teams have good players. I would love for all the blue-chippers to come to the Y, but I know that that is an impossibility. In fact, I wish that all the Utah teams win all their games when they aren't playing the team from Provo.

He sounds like an excellent young man, and I wish the best for him. Good luck!
Chip | 10:35 p.m. June 21, 2008
I'm a cougar fan that thinks Carrol was a great player. He hurt us a few times. I would have loved to have had him. I hope the Jazz give him a good look. I'm sure many of the same negative things were said about Ronnie Price. Hey he was at UVSC. I don't think the school has anything to do with their talent. I can cheer for him regardless of the team he plays for.
Ignored in High School | 12:26 a.m. June 24, 2008
Nobody wanted Jaycee out of high school despite the fact the he scored 39 points a game. He shatters school records and scored more points in his college career than some guy named Danny Ainge. Now that he's out of college, people are still hating on him. All you Utes and Cougars just wish you would have had a guy like him. For those of you that think his height is a problem, just look at how many rebounds he had despite being a SHOOTING GUARD! He led the team in rebounding his Junior year. And people say he's too short! Get a clue haters!

Huge Jacee fan, but it's not hard to be a super star when most of your team is a joke.
