Good

It's good to see people working TOGETHER to save
precious historical landmarks...

God Bless...

Candice

Looks like all is well so far. Prayer always works.

I hope by July the waters will have subsided and the area will look even more beautiful! History is important to save and render for future generations! Someone is watching, for certain!

The mighty M

The mighty Mississippi has flooded for a very long time. Man-made dams and levees seem to worsen the problem in years like this.

But the soils that flood will be enriched with new top soil from the river.

The homes and lives that have been devestated will take a long time to fix.
The flood waters bring some nasty things into the homes when they flood. And afterwards mold sets in and the house is usually beyond saving. Pity...

Since prayers alsways work, lets pray for these people that have had their lives shattered and not worry about July being nice for a silly play (pageant).

To the Mighty M ????

Why is it someone always wants to start a fight?
Calling any activity that brings people of like interest together in harmony is not a "silly" activity any more than wishing or praying for those who have been devestated is a "silly" activity.
Many of those people who are devestated participate in the "silly play" and it give them great joy and pride in their community as well as an opportunity for friendship with many who both believe and don't believe in their faith.
Thanks for your "silly" comments

God bless Nauvoo!!!!!!!!!!! I have never been to Nauvoo and am relieved to know it will still be there to enjoy when I can finally visit.

prayers always work

Interestingly, in order for some prayers to "work" others cannot. Who gets the credit? The more righteous doing the praying or the more righteous doing the receiving? Or is righteousness not a condition of a prayer working?

We all are rather selfish when we pray asking for blessings no matter what effect that may have on others so that our desires may be done. Make it so, and if not for God's blessings into calamity I too would go. Do you realize you're praying for bad things to happen to others when asking to keep them from you?

How about putting your prayers, faith, and works into simply handling with a balanced attitude whatever comes your way? Be grateful for the opportunity to live and grow by experience rather than hoping to always get an easy card when it comes to life's challenges.

My prayer.

My prayer has not been for the waters not to reach the people, that isn't realistic, my prayer is that they will be able to handle the situation. I have prayed that they will be able to salvage their homes and to heal. Tomorrow the YSA branch in our stake is going to go do sandbagging down near the lower part of the river, I wish I could help, but I get sick and week in the sun, but bless the hearts of all those who have helped in all these cities. As for Nauvoo, I think it is great that everyone is helping everyone, the LDS church didn't have anything that was threatened, but they were there for their neighbors. And there is nothing wrong with that community wanting things to go well in July for the pageant, both churches welcome those who come to visit and that "silly "pageant" is what contributes to the non LDS economy a great deal.

Along with prayer, The Lord will protect His own.

I remember president Hinkley said he was in a hurry to get the temple built, and he did.It is on a bluff farther away from the river. When I joined the church in 1996 there were just a few rocks where the baptismal font had been, and everyone talked about someday a temple would be built there ,when it was safe. Now it stands there reminding us of how faith can make life come at you fast!

Until you go to Nauvoo you can't understand the spirit of this wonderful community. If I was not a member of the church I would want members of the church as my neighbors, we don't crave the attention for what we do to help but we are the first ones looked at thru a microscope when things in our religion deem newsworthy.

I love Nauvoo and I am proud to call myself a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Days Saints.

God Bless everyone who helped....

We visited Nauvoo last year, so we are concerned for the safety of this sacred place, Should have known that the Lord would "make bare His arm in protecting His holy house".
