Creators of Obama monkey shift gears

I actually think some of the stuff posted here is due to ignorance...but people who post it should do a little homework on racism before they post.
Those people are racist to the core. They are saying nothing because their boy is about to launch onto an important career. They don't want to ruin his chances by calling attention to the fact that they haven't protested that the pres has been called a monkey, and worse.
The reason why it's ok to make a sock monkey puppet of GWB is that he is a puppet of Cheney and the neo-cons. He apes whatever they tell him to do. Wonder why gas is going to be $5 a gallon soon? After W finishes his banana reward for lining Cheney's pockets AGAIN, maybe he'll ape throwing grenades at Iran. Has the man ever had a single coherent thought of his own?
Only 217 more days until the zoo exhibit shuts down. Then we clean out the cage we used to call the White House and let either Obama or McCain restore dignity to the Presidency, value to our dollar, and respect to our nation's image around the world.
No only a thought of his own but action as well. Think.. has your house been bombed lately? Has anybody's? Read Ann Coulter for the details.
Gas prices have shot up since the Dems took control of Congress. You can thank them. They are so concerned about getting re-elected that they cower in the corner at the first sign of real issues to solve. Except issues like, has Roger Clemens used drugs,? or, the Gonzales firing of US attorneys.
Not only is he incompetent, he will have an incompetent Democratic Congress to do his incompetent bidding. A perfect storm is brewing.
This is yet another ridiculous idea by ridiculous racists who are stuck in an era that doesn't exist. The world has changed folks - either get onboard or get left behind.
Regarding the blogger who said Obama would 'destroy the county' - well, we are in a RECESSION, at WAR, Gas prices are THROUGH THE ROOF, FORECLOSURES are devastating families, UNEMPLOYMENT if rampant and FOOD is getting scarce (see corn crop report).
I doubt if ANYONE can do worse than your beloved BUSH
Why do you think being a bigot is more honorable than being a racist?
Failing in every social and cultural section of society except being #1 in offensive.
Suppose then the Mitt doll used his hat to transcribe the "New Book of Moron - Play Book for the Future of the GOP"? Would that be funny, or would that be considered hateful and mocking?
Or doesn't it matter? Would that just be free speech in a free market?
It hurts when it affects my family and my friends.
"Congress shall make no law ...abridging the freedom of speech", .
If congress can't do this who died and allowed some weak kneed blogger the right to stop or start someone making any political statement they wish.
If you think its racist then don't buy it. The vote with your pocketbook is far more efficient than a bunch of un-named thugs threatening someone to stop their right to free speech. We need to get some back bone and we need to stop all the name calling.
We as a people (all of us) cannot survive this on going litany of partisanship dividing us along so many different lines. This is more destructive than 911 by far.
"The thing is..., you cannot judge a race. Any man who judges by the group is a peawit. You take men one at a time."
-- Buster Kilrain, "The Killer Angels"
Try Jimmy Carter.
What's next, Lawsons? Minstrel shows? You know, by your logic, those public expressions of free speech have long been suppressed by reverse discrimination and left-wing pressure, too! To be consistent, you should be defending and producing those next!
I'm absolutely appalled that the Lawsons know full well that this item offends people--yet they're bound and determined to make it anyway. I guarantee I will never purchase any products their company makes, since I can never support what they stand for.
I encourage every fair-minded citizen in and out of Utah who believes in equality, tolerance, and the abandonment of racial prejudice to do likewise. It's an embarrassment to the state of Utah. Boycott it and every other product the Lawsons sell.
BTW: I'm neither a Obama supporter nor a "liberal." Just some guy who believes in being fair-minded and tolerant more than politics.
It's up to the sensible Americans to act upon racist speech.
It is Constitutional for the KKK to march and speak through Skokie, but it to "We the People" to illuminate hate speech as well as stupid speech.
This is very different from calling Bush a chimp, which is offensive but not racist. It is the historical context that makes it racist or not. It looks to me like some people don't want to understand the distinction.
shame on you!
To those painting all Utahns, and by extension, all Mormons, with the same broad racist brush --
shame on you!
btw, the Lawsons have said that the creators of TheSockObama are not of the Mormon faith.
Because there isn't a history in this country of white people being compared to monkeys in an attempt to portray them as racially inferior. This doll was obviously intended as a racist caricature.
Obvious, no? Well, not to people who are so locked up in their own racial mentality that they can't--or, better said, WON'T!--see into anyone else's.
If White people had a historic legacy of a more powerful group treating them like animals, and even socially defining them as if they were little better than monkeys, dogs, or cattle, it'd be easier to see why the Bush-as-chimp image is so offensive to Blacks.
The Black experience in America has been 100% different than for Whites. Because of the prejudice, differences in power, violence (both threatened and carried out), and so forth, there's historical baggage there that most White people--especially in Utah!--haven't even begun to understand.
Step into the shoes of a Black person sometime. You'll understand much better why the "monkey" label is so much more offensive to Blacks than it is to Whites. And yes, that's "sensitivity training." Many of us could use more of it.
If insensitive actions/remarks are directed a fat, blonde or short person, people shrug it off as insensitive and move one. However if the same thing happens in regard to persons ethnicity, all tolerance is thrown out the window.
My own circle of association includes all walks of life - diverse ethnicities, religions, races, sexual orientation, etc., but somehow we all manage to get along because we see each other as individuals, with our own individual strengths and foibles.
Maybe we could put away the racism card and focus more on people as individuals.
Are bigotry and racism brothers or cousins?
I read about this discovery in college a few years ago. Seems that monkeys are a racist symbol against whites as well. I think I understand now.
Some blacks need empowerment training to understand that they don't have to remain victims of racism.
The Al Sharptons and Jessie Jacksons of the world make a living perpetuating racism.
Most people just want to get along.
I'm wondering if someone who can't spell "incompetent" is credible on assessing the abilities of the editor of the Harvard Law Review.
Maybe we'd better not insult ANYONE? Just a thought.
Mr. Obama has a white mother and a black father. He is no more black than he is white, and, he is no more white than he is black.
For him or anyone in his campaign to keep playing the "race card" whenever they can find an "offense", meant or unmeant, is vile and offensive.
Obama may be younger than some, but I am willing to bet all on him at this point. We have lost our souls under the leadership of the religious right. Open up your eyes. Stop thinking about your selfish racist greed and start thinking about your childrens futures.
Enough all ready! The doll is gone never to be seen again (at least we hope so)lets move on
Sock monkeys deserve happiness too!
