I am so happy I could almost cry!! Good job boys. Finally the critics have one less thing to say. 4 of 5 at home seems pretty exciting to me. First of all I get to be at the games and second we are very tough at home. I am excited for how this may end up!

Where are all the soccer-haters now? Please feel free to post comments ragging on RSL, soccer, the stadium, etc. We are tired of hearing about it. Winning does have the effect of shutting people up.

Turning the corner

RSL got a huge win tonight. They may be at a turning point in their franchise history. Let's hope so. It would be nice to have RSL open their new stadium in style. Keep it up, guys. Let's host a few playoff games in our new stadium!

Thank you RSL

I am glad you proved me wrong last night. Good game.

I for one

don't care what the soccer haters think or say anymore. If they don't understand what we have here, that's their loss.....

I'm a lifelong Football and Basketball fan who can hardly sit through those games anymore.....

Horrace

I missed the game because I'm at a conference in San Diego, but I hear it was an ugly win. That's a good sign if RSL can find a way to win ugly.

Good win RSL, try to win 2 in a row, probably not. Get some quality players and win the MLS and then you will be worthy of an expensive stadium.

Anti-Kreis

People it's only one win!! Now watch them lose to San Jose. I was impressed with the defense, that is the 10 man defense in the second half.

Findley is coming on for us! I was very happy to see the fans leaving the stadium in the last ten minutes of the game, knowing the game was over, rather than staying to watch the inevitable come back that has been the norm in previous RSL games.

rachel

yay real! and they beat san jose!

RSL1

The 4-5-1 formation seemed to keep Chivas from attacking down the wings where we have been killed all year. Perhaps this will be our road formation from now on. RSL did a great job keeping the Chivas attack at bay. Offensively we had really only 3 great chances and finished one of them. Excellent work.

Dave

Too early to have confidence. But I love RSL and I can be patient. If they fail on their next road game, I'll be ok. Sure hope they can put things together and be more consistent.

Another step in the right direction. A much improved team from last year.

So sunday morning...

I grabbed the paper, i was expecting the headline of "Worst loss in RSL history". Yet to my amaze it read "RSL finds rare road victory". I WAS BLOWN AWAY. I had made a bet with my brother on how bad of a loss it was going to be. He had predicted 3-0, i had given RSL a little more respect in a 2-0 loss. Yet we win the game, with like none of our "good" players in the lineup for the attack we still found a way to find the net and hold out.
I think the formation was a huge part of the success, keeping the Chivas attack at bay and not allowing them down the wings was a major factor for RSL.
The formation for this saturday's game should be interesting. Does RSL try the same thing, or since we are home on our narrow field do they go back to a more offensive lineup. I am interested to see what Kreis does.
Good job RSL!!!

Win

Win! Yipee!

Chris

Great win for RSL! Way to hang in there guys especially at the end of the match when Chivas was in full attack mode. Looks like Findlay was just warming up the net for the USA-Barbados game the next day. Great weekend - RSL, USMNT and Andy Williams all did well.
Great to see that Andy Williams scored one of Jamaica's goals yesterday in their 7-0 World Cup Qualifier win.

I was wrong

It is so nice to say I was wrong. I said they would lose. Great job men, now there is a real opportunity to flex some muscle and let people know RSL is different. LOVED Rimandos new threads... Why cant the whole team have some better looking dig's like that..... Great Job! The fans deserve it. Congrats!!

FYI

We don't hate RSL because they lose, we hate them for 2 different reasons:

1. It's soccer

2. They stole our tax money

They could beat every girl's team from here to San Francisco and they would still be hated. We won't be satisfied until we get our money back and they've gone the way of the Starzz.

re: FYI

If it has been said once its been said a million times. It's not your money!!! Its not the taxes you pay (until you live in a hotel), ITS NOT YOUR MONEY. Stop thinking that it is. ALL OF YOU, once again its not your money. The same money has been being spent and collected for years. Get your facts straight.

Tell ALL of us how its your money, if its coming from a hotel tax? Do you live in a hotel? If so maybe you need to do something with your life and stop blogging about a soccer stadium you paying for.

Just so you didnt miss it. You are not paying for it!!!! GET OVER IT SOCCER HATERS!!!!! You are going to lose. They dont need you to succeed, there is enough support without you. Go away and go home to your hotel. House cleaning is done and they left you a "REAL"ly nice "Do not disturb" sign laced in Red, Blue and Yellow with the RSL Crest on it. Please use it but put it on the inside of the door so you can stop bothering the outside world.

re: re: FYI

Why it's our money: it is revenue that would otherwise be spent on something worthwhile in our state, or even better, distributed to the citizens in the form of tax cuts. Gov. Johnny Boy took money that belongs to the state and disbursed it in the form of corporate welfare. The state of Utah does not benefit from having a soccer team because the dollars that flow into it are from residents. Other local businesses help the state just as much, yet they do not benefit from corporate welfare. Like MLM, Real Salt Lake is a scam that not only hurts the ignorant, but those who have to bail them out.
