My wife is Julie (I only have one), and the reason Hallmark holidays aren't valued in our house is because I have a problem with focusing one day on appreciating someone. I don't need Valentine's Day to express my love to my wife and I don't need Father's Day to know I'm appreciated. We should remember everyday to be grateful.

Great line in the movie Lions and Lambs- possibly a new greeting card one. "Don't waste a second worrying about my feelings. I'm not worried about yours"

Any card is supposed to care about the receiver however and yet cards for dads have often been negative stereotypes of incompetence, absence, beer, sports and burping. The dad aspect of fathering itself does deserve more credit and I am always very touched in malls, airplanes, parks to see dads and kids together on life's journey. Playing, napping, feeding, laughing, directing, advising. That's what Father's Day is really.
