Anyone who has visited or attended Ricks College (now BYU-I) in Rexburg Idaho realizes that it's in eastern Idaho not southern Idaho. One look at the Idaho state map will prove it.

Bring Back Basketball | 8:12 a.m. June 12, 2008
I really wish Ricks would at least bring back Basketball. A Basketball program is relatively cheap, compared to football, and it would give students there a team to cheer on.

Why can't ricks field a basketball team? There is nothing to do in Rexburg--the students need something.

Well, with the unique shape of the state of Idaho, it's probably a lot more correct to state that Rexburg is located in SouthEast Idaho, rather than simply East. In fact, Rexburg is also quite near Idaho's Northern border with Montana, so I guess it could be considered to be in the South, the East, the NorthEast, and the North.

Ricks is the best school in the nation to study at. The reason is that Ricks is the most boring place on earth and there is nothing to do but study.

I transferred from Ricks to BYU Provo and I thought I had hit party town. If Provo is considered "party town" you know the place you came from is pretty dull.

With that said, the people were very nice and potatoes were extrememly cheap.

'There is nothing to do in Rexburg-the students need something.'

Quite the contrary, actually. There are a lot of programs and activities to keep the students busy. I don't think you read the article as it explained just how much there is to do.

I was only able to attend BYU-Idaho for one year. I had a great time and I learned a lot. I have since married and live here in SLC, where I go to school. I will always cherish the time I had in Rexburg. I was impressed with the performers they were able to bring, the devotional speakers and the mulitude of activities always taking place. It's rare to find aday where there isn't something planned.

When I originally left to attend school at BYU-Idaho, I had doubts. But as I have stated, it was a great experience. I really felt the University had my best interests at heart.

Garth Vader -

My experience matches yours. Most of my Ricks memories are of wonderful, long hours spent studying. I had no car and nothing else to do.
Tons to do at BYU-Idaho | 9:37 a.m. June 12, 2008
The person who wrote there is nothing to do in Rexburg didn't read the article. Instead of a handful of athletes playing and everyone else just watching, thousands of students are now active participants in the school's incredible and unique activities program. In addition to sports, students can participate in a wide variety of activities, including taking advantage of the area's fantastic outdoor recreation opportunities. Any student at BYU-Idaho who says they don't have anything to do needs to get out of bed and get with the program!
