How does Uintah make the playoffs as the lone 4A team in Region 11?
Anonymous | 8:31 a.m. June 11, 2008
How will Uintah qualify for state when they only play region games against 3A schools? they will always get in since they are undefeated? or never get in since they will be winless aginst 4A teams.

Roy's never going to win another game! LOL!

They will ALWAYS get in | 9:35 a.m. June 11, 2008
and get seeded as a middle of the road team. That will drop some 5th place team from some region off the board. But honestly they never do anything anyway so it doesn't matter.
Interesting! | 10:16 a.m. June 11, 2008
I with "wondering" In the case of Uintah, the sport they are most competive in is wrestling. As you know state seeding is determined by the region tournament. So someone tell me how this is expected to work? Do they take all 28 kids to state or what? What about the other sports? Help me understand!

How hard was it to put Viewmont into Region 2 and balance out the four regions to 8,8,7,7 instead of 9,6,7,7 ?

Good bye Logan (Finally). Hello Judge and Juan D. Still a battle go for small towns (Grantsville & Morgan). Bring back the small town toughness and all will work out just fine.

The decision to keep Region 1 (Weber/Davis County)with 9 teams is based on geography. Which school would you have join Region 2 (mid-Salt Lake area)?

The teams in Region 1 would rather keep the travel to a minimum and lose a non-region game than make the longer trip to SL county.
To the naysayers of UHSAA | 1:22 p.m. June 11, 2008
It should be stated that the UHSAA board of trustees is made up of school officials from all over the state. Those officials study the issues and take it back to their schools/districts and discuss it with the coaches, principals, athletic directors, etc. They return with that input and report to the BOT.

Most of the complaints I have seen on both realignment articles are from people who are not involved with the process nor understand it. Ask the coaches, principals, AD's. They are fine with the realignment.

Why is 5A Skyline(1,422) the only school in the state not required to play in the Division that the enrollment numbers dictate? 4A(1,000-1,499),5A(1,500+). Of course they have been recruiting with impunity for the last 15 years as well so...
Up North | 6:47 p.m. June 11, 2008
Finally, we don't have to listen to Logan complain about being the smallest 4A school. There are twelve schools smaller than they in 4A! May the whining from the north finally end!
RE: Naysayers of the UHSAA | 7:43 p.m. June 11, 2008
You stated: "They return with that input and report to the BOT" You're probably accurate on that account. However, you forgot one minor detail. If the BOT doesn't listen, which Murray would attest than what does it matter. You guys just go through a political process to say you've done it. But ultimately you seldom listen to anyone. Actions speak louder than words to those of us with intelligence. I assume your a member of the UHSAA or you might as well be. Don't litter the comment section with your nonsense.
TO: To Wondering | 9:28 p.m. June 11, 2008
Travel was not the issue with region 1. If you look at region one it is always one of the toughest regions. We dont want to play East and West and Granger who cant even make the playoffs in 4A. It was a job well done in 5A. The other classifactions have a few bugs to work out. Overall good job by the UHSAA.

This is a mess. Cottonwood who has ruled 4A baseball the last 4 years will not repeat. I think that even though they are very good they have also been beat those last 4 years soundly by 5a bingham in the pre-season. All arguements aside, cottonwood will take time to compete in 5a as will murray, west cyprus and all the rest. Prepare for a beating!!!

What everybody seems to not realize is that we still have one more year of the system as it curently exists before this re-alignment takes affect. It seems more reasonable to me that the board make adjustments on a yearly basis in some cases, without the extra meetings and hearings, based on their own requirements and rules as stated in the begining. Some schools like Park City, and possibly Wasatch
will be over the limit on enrollment even before the current 4 year alignment take effect. As far as the St. George schools are concerned, and the Cedar schools, wouldn't it be better to keep them all in the same classification? They all are pushing the 1000 student enrollment limits.
Poor PG | 4:50 p.m. June 12, 2008
Say good bye to state Pleasant Grove. Better get in this year because you will never see it again. How in the world is PG going to make the cut against Alta, Jordan, Brighton, Lone Peak and AF? Timpanogos is much better than PG and I have to think that Timp is at least as big as PG so it would seem to me that those two should have swapped with PG going down to 4A.
re poor Pg | 5:37 p.m. June 18, 2008
thats why PG handed it to Timpanogas in Football and Basketball last year. And it wont be close again this year. You guys cant even win a game in summer bball or football. Timp needs the luck!

Hehehe.........Juab, Manti, and Richfield are going to have so much fun in 3A. They aren't even going to be able to compete with Delta!
