I think she is making a mistake. There is nothing noble about giving up swimming to attend church. In fact it's kind of rediculous to think spending 3 hrs in church is going to make her any better than anyone else.

yes I agree Foolednomore, you will set back your career by skipping Sunday's. Nothing admirable about that. Makes me mad that they tell you Sundays are off limits. So by praising this person are they saying Steve Young was a bad person?

I think you two may be missing the point and reading things between the lines that are not there (especially given the Steve Young comment). This is a story of a person who has set her priorities, has run into conflicts that challenged her priorities, prayerfully (I assume) decided what course to take, and has stuck to the answer she received. Yes, that kind of tenacity should be applauded.

I don't think Steve Young's decision was any easier. I'm sure he wrestled with it, prayed about it, and got his answer that he stuck to, as well. He should also be applauded for his integrity and doing what was right for him, as difficult as it was. There isn't a "one answer fits all", nor are there rules for all possible contingencies--we are not ancient Israel, after all.

Foolednomore, do I detect a bit of sour grapes in your attitude? What do you have against a person who sets her faith as a high priority? What is wrong with that? Your remark that it's ridiculous to think church is going to make her any better than anyone else, gives you away. The article didn't say anything about that, at all. It simply showed that she has chosen to place church on Sunday as a high priority in her life.
