One of the very few circuses that comes to our town in Arizona is a family-owned Hispanic circus. Believe me, you don't have to be Hispanic to enjoy a Hispanic-owned circus. In fact, circus performers have been multi-national all over the world and the Mexican ones are some of the best.
Go and enjoy!

I find it disappointing that The Deseret News would publish a puff piece about a circus without mentioning the cruelty associated with the animals that perform. As recently as March 31 of this year, one of the Vazquez tigers was mauled to death because they crammed six tigers into one small cage over night.
For their elephant act, Vazquez hired the notorious Davenport family that has a history of elephant abuse. They killed a young elephant named Heather by confining her in an unventilated truck while temperatures rose to 130 degrees.
Instead of attending the circus, look through the fence at the elephants and go home. You can see Queenie, the oldest elephant, swaying endlessly (a stereotypical, neurotic behavior resulting from stress) and you can save A LOT of money. The tickets are EXPENSIVE!

I'm curious as to why my first post was deleted. I had pointed out that the elephant trainer was evicted from LA due to his history of animal welfare act violations, and that a tiger was killed by the other tigers on 3/31 after being left unattended overnight in a too-small space. These are verifiable facts, as is the fact that the elephant trainer, Will Davenport, is the subject of at least 2 federal investigations presently, and that the circus owner has been convicted of smuggling an elephant named Benny into Mexico, in violation of all endangered species laws. This is not nice family entertainment, and this circus should not be patronized.

If a dead tiger and an elephant trainer thrown out of town are not enough to convince the public that this cicus is a danger and a disgrace i don't know what is. these elephants have been to hell and back. please boycott! and contact the sponsor to tell them they are supporting cruelty.

Millions of animals die, this is how wild life is if they don't die in the circus they may die in the jungle is just how nature is. What can you expect from a circus? What can you tell me about Siegfried and Roy incident where the tiger hurt his master. Things happen and sometimes you can't avoid things or accidents. If you don't want to go to the circus then don't but there may be people that do want to enjoy it. Stop complaining.
