Contrary to popular demands this is why we need controlled growth and developement. Natural resources are limited, like water, fuel, trees, etc., and they should be limiting factors to growth and rates of growth. We are in the process of unadulterated abuse of resources in the name of progress. What happens when resources dry up? The colorado river is already used beyond its abilities, it no longer reaches the pacific coast as it once did. America should be thinking of the future needs and long lasting growth instead of the short term riches that can be obtained by a few. New sources of natural resources does not merit uncontrolled growth and developement. We need a national growth controls system so that we don't destroy ourselves in the quest for greed and money. Nevada wants to divert primary water to support Las Vegas who has nothing to offer america in return. Major water supplies should first be earmarked for food production wether it is cattle on open range or farmers growing our food. Perhaps Nevada should invest more in providing a more usefull product for Nevada and the american people. America will live without gambling but food is required.

Just a simple question. How do you measure 40,000 acre square feet of water?? That's a new method of measurement to me!

Dave - An acre-foot of water would fill one acre of land with one foot (12 inches) deep of water. It is a standard techniques scientists use to measure large volumes of water.
