Nice Job Trib and D-news I guess a kid from Farmington,Utah. Taken in the fourth round is not as meaningful as a kid from Boise Idaho taken in the third. Way to do your research!
I agree with you Sam White. I thought there would have been a nice article on Braeden especially since he was taken in the fourth round, and he's from Farmington Utah! Instead you mention his name briefly near the end of the article, as if the fourth round isn't up to par.
Too anyone who really knows, they know the amateur baseball draft is hit and miss, and being drafted anywhere above the 20th round is a very high honor.
Fact is, the kid from Farmington went to college in Nevada, and the kid from Boise went to college in Utah.
Sour grapes, dis and Sam. Fife is well known after pitching for the Utes. Not sure that a majority of people even knew the was a College of S. Nevada. You write for your audience and that's exactly what this writer did. He mentioned the 2 players with Utah ties and gave the reader an appropriate amount of information about both.
if you know good baseball, then you know that Southern Nevada is one of the better baseball programs around...
I played against Braeden in high school and will be the first one to tell you that he is legit...Fife is also, he just happens to go to school here...
Why are you bagging on the DN at least they mentioned his name! The Trib's online story said Fife was the only player from Utah taken on the first day. At least the DN knew the kid from Southern Nevada was from Utah.
Hey, can we just be happy for Fife and stop slamming the writers/newspapers?!! I taught Stephen in 8th grade in Boise and now live in Utah. He is a GREAT kid and deserves all the praise and news time he is receiving. Sorry to hear the local kid didn't get as much air time. However, Fife's mom tonight said that the local Boise news barely mentioned Stephen's draft pick! Did the Nevada news report on Braeden?? I hope so. Best of luck to both kids!
