Props to Findley for the POW honors. Funny he didn't even get acknowledged as player of the game.

RSL has "a roster spot, several hundred thousand dollars of cap room, and a designated player spot" available, huh?

DO SOMETHING WITH THEM!

Other teams have DP's, and - whaddya know? They tend to win games with them.

If we stand pat and accept mediocrity, it'll just further illustrate how clueless we are from the top down.
Thats ok... | 8:02 a.m. June 3, 2008
...not sure McBride would just magically solve our "Forward" problems. In fact...not sure our Forwards have a problem, we just aren't using them to their/our strengths.

Bocanegra.......I'll pass.

Who would you suggest as our DP? It would be a waste to put in a brand new engine in a car...when the wheels aren't all turning yet.

Besides, Checketts and Lagerway have already said that we won't get a DP until the fans show that we want it in the new stadium. In other words...if we have alot of season ticket holders...they'll go shopping.
dp? | 9:13 a.m. June 3, 2008
Only a few of the dp's in the league have actually panned out. Sure they are good, but only Blanco and occasionally Beckham have proven to be game changers. Angel is struggling, as well as Gallardo, and Denilson was the biggest bust in league history.

We need a true winger to stretch the field when we go on the road. We get hammered by teams that have good wing play when we play away from Rice Eccles. Problem is good wingers are at a premium everywhere right now, so there aren't likely going to be any coming over from Europe anyway. I like Espindola on the wing, he is fast, good ball control and service, and once he gets in the box he is pretty much unstoppable. Our coaches have it in their heads he is going to play forward though... i hope he recovers quickly and they change their minds though.

KC should be a good game! Go reAL!

It's not my job to suggest anybody - it's theirs.

Neither am I advocating a knee-jerk signing like Denilson.

But you must concede that it seems like a tremendous waste of an opportunity to break out when we seem to have a team with potential in a wide-open Western conference this season. I would disagree that the wheels aren't all turning yet. I simply feel that one of the wheels is missing.

We have the money, the need, and the space. I just hope the front office isn't resting on their laurels and hoping that magic will happen, that's all.
Agreed... | 12:38 p.m. June 3, 2008
...I do hope that the FO has something in mind with the summer transfer window approaching. Dropping Talley was a big deal...now lets use his large pay check and get a quick winger that can serve up some floaters to Deuchar.
Allez RSL | 1:31 p.m. June 3, 2008
I'd rather the FO took all the money they could potentially give to a DP and pay for some high-quality tactical training for Kreis. Since we're apparently stuck with him for the foreseeable future.
Offensive minded | 1:55 p.m. June 3, 2008
The offense is starting to click. RSL has already scored 15 goals this year. We do need to find a good wing player. Deuchar is dangerous on headers, so we need a precise ball crosser.
$$$ for new Coach.... | 7:36 p.m. June 3, 2008
...That would be a good use of funds. What are we paying Kreis? $150k? I really think he is holding our team back. If we don't qualify for playoffs, I pray he goes to the chopping block first.
Wing players | 8:00 p.m. June 3, 2008
Wing play seems to be strongest in Europe. Those players are the most expensive. It is going to be tough, but it can be done. I have a feeling if RSL signs a big name it wouldn't help much. They will most likely sign an unknown. It may work though. Look at Olave.

They should definitely sign a wing player though. It is their weakness and they should at least try to find someone. Even if it doesn't work out.

When will the Deseret News get a reality check and quit cheerleading for this organization? Edward should join the team in public relations.

With the new stadium coming online in a few months, we need to some wide players now to get ready.

Only Cordoba and maybe Williams can cross accurately. Lets get them some help!

And James, your doing a great job, keep it up!

When will people like you shutup? You sound like a 5 year old boy who didn't get the candy he wanted at the store. Edwards is the only honest soccer writer in the area... he has been very critical of rsl in the past but unlike the idiots at the tribune he can see when some things are going right. I am thankful for his honest effort.
