Must be a good year in Utah for junior and sophomore pitchers. Sounds like a few of these teams were a short on arms.
Fan | 7:24 a.m. June 1, 2008

Must have been a big shot for the boys from the North to beat the boys from the south. Who would have thoght a bunch of no names beating the so called elite boys...and for the guy who it the home run..great job because the baseball God's are the equalizers when the mouths start chriping

Although the game felt like 5 hours it only went 31/2. It started at 7:30 and ended just after 11. Seeing the bomb homers -especially the one that flew well over the scoreboard - was definitely worth it

Relax. Shaw and Rasmussen played on same summer team last year and are good friends. In this case, "chirping" is way to strong. It was a fun game and many of these players will play together again this summer.
4A/3A | 9:12 a.m. June 1, 2008
Why not more coverage on the other games??
Who? | 10:17 a.m. June 1, 2008
Who were the players? That's the story. Let's see a list.
to: who? | 10:31 a.m. June 1, 2008
Look on yesterday's high school section to see the list of players. You know, reporting the players on the day of the game, not after the fact.
to: pithcing | 11:18 a.m. June 1, 2008
are you kidding there are a lot of good juniors in the state pitching. how about mike dedrick from canyon view, chunner nyberg from dixie, or bryce anderson from cedar both mike and bryce throw at 85 or higher. or what about AJ Carmen from judge... i think you need to observe and you'll see that there are a lot of good pitchers that throw 85 or higher being a junior in highschool
answer | 12:13 p.m. June 1, 2008

RE:answer (selfish) | 12:47 p.m. June 1, 2008
Nice try and nice english. Lets see, the Gatorade player of the year in Utah is who and from what school? Sorry looks like the "big league schools" lost out. We do want to hear about the 4A and 3A.
to:pitching | 12:59 p.m. June 1, 2008
The pitching was actually very good, the hitting was just amazing
Lets Remember | 3:17 p.m. June 1, 2008
the last 2 years 4A cottonwood beat the 5A power Spanish Fork up until this years. And Also Remember that in 4A the North Throttled the south for 3 years straight up until this year. There is a lot more talent up north than you think

I am just glad that baseball season is over with so I don't have to read any more message boards about high school baseball. BORING!!!
To Pitching | 7:59 p.m. June 1, 2008
Spelling? Junior pitchers (I'm sure I didn't hit them all)- Campbell, Nyberg, Nelson, Duke, Carman, Jones, Meyer,.... You might want to get your facts correct next time you post. And, these guys would out hit the seniors too.

You must be soccer player....now that's a sport that's boring... Maybe water polo
a perfect night | 8:38 p.m. June 1, 2008
The all-star game was outstanding. Very few ego's involved. I went to both games, Kearns and Ogden, and the Ogden one was the best of the two. The kids on both teams were smiling, joking with each other, but still competing. It was awesome. Thanks!

Last time I checked America is still a free country.
You don't have to read anything you don't want to. My question to the people that are glad baseball is over so they don' t have to read about it any more is why do you go to the page for High School sports. I don't like wrestling and I have never read an article about it, amazingly I'm well adjusted and happy reading about baseball and the blogs. Congratulations to all the prep athletes they work hard for something they love to do and most schools have a grade standard they have to achieve so they also work hard for grades, Some have jobs also. these young men and women are awesome.

Those kids might be able to throw, but there is no way they could out hit the explosive hitters of last night. Every ball off the bat was smoked.
Bruin | 9:38 p.m. June 1, 2008
Yes, I agree it was a great night. Thanks for the efforts put forth. Just remember you can't make everyone happy. Look forward to #65 next year.
agree with fan | 11:42 p.m. June 1, 2008
I was at the game, and all of the kids in both dugouts were joking around, and laughing all game, it was a great experience. Also, the hitting was spectacular, I felt like I was watching a college game. Thank you
wow | 7:53 a.m. June 2, 2008
nice defensive struggle. Good pitching will always beat good hitting or visea versa. Glad the boys had fun. this senior group is special. next years group is special as well. great pitching all around. campbell meyer carmen carter jones, lay, huber, just to name a few. plus many many great hitters. Glad to see the national pastime is in great hands in the beehive state. congrats to all the coaches and the time they put in to mold our young men. I thank, and appluad you all.
Positive Comments | 11:13 a.m. June 2, 2008
It is so nice to get on hear and read about all the positive comments on the players and coaches. That is what it should be, nothing negative. The old saying if you do not have anything good to say about something or someone, then don't say anything at all. Well that should hold true to all of you, quit saying negative crap on these blogs. Just say positive things about our players and coaches in Utah, cause we have so much to be PROUD of in the State of Utah cause of the sports, players, coaches and all of our high schools. So just be PROUD and quit the negative talk. As a parent I am so PROUD of my son and all the other players around Utah, THEY ARE A GREAT BUNCH OF YOUNG MEN, that it hurts my heart to hear someone else talk about another player, coach or another high school. Just be a great fan and be PROUD, I SURE AM,....

pride cometh before the fall... do people pay to watch this all-star game and actually stay for the whole thing? I think I have better things to do with my saturday, but it is nice to read about it in the paper.
Wow | 1:11 p.m. June 2, 2008
I write a positive blog and then the very next comment is negative. wow you negative people just need to stay off of this, like you said you have better things to do on Saturdays. So keep your negativity to yourself....
fun time | 1:13 p.m. June 2, 2008
lots of home runs and offensive, players having the time of their life, the dinner the night before, jackets given to each player, lots of great kids going on to college on scholarship, great fan support, a totally outstanding evening.
to: positive comments | 1:29 p.m. June 2, 2008
You either have a son who didn't make the teams or you don't support your son. For my son, one of the players, this is one time to just watch him play without the pressure of performing. The only pressure was what he put on himself. The only bad thing about the whole affair is that it didn't last longer. Should have been there. You would have a better understanding of class, sportsmanship, and competition. I feel sorry for you!
