It really doesn't matter whether McDuff picks Romney or not, they will lose unless---I have wondered for some time now why Hilary keeps staying in this race. I think I have possibly arrived at the reason--and remember you heard it here 1st. It will not be a surprise to me that when all is said and done and she is defeated in the Demo race that she will declare as an independent. That would raise all kinds of hell with the upcoming general election, especially if she picks a popular running mate. Just mull over the percentage breakdowns for each candidate then. This looks very possible to me, why else would she continue to spent her own enormous amounts of money? This would make this whole election process topsy turfy big time. Don't be shocked if this scenario comes to pass. I hope not but go figure.

Now we're talking! A Romney-McCain ticket would definitely strengthen the diversity of the GOP and allow McCain to raise enough funds to battle Obama in the November Election. I don't think there's anybody else out there besides Romney who could help the Republican party land a more thorough, and decisive victory in the fall, especially when Obama starts plunking the tune of our failing economy as reason for party change. Our need for a competent, financial leader to act as an adviser to McCain is strong, not to mention the fact that Romney is guided by a clear moral compass to strengthen America's families. Support Mitt Romney as VP to President McCain!

Are you joking? No one will pick Romney as a VP. Utah will vote for the GOP candidate even if it was my cat. MA will never go to the GOP. So what good does it do to have Mitt on the ticket? Lastly, his Mormon faith makes those right wingers scared.
Mitt is a wealthy businessman who has no concept of what it is like to be a working person living paycheck to paycheck. You just get another guy who wants to help big business and look what that has done for America -Big Business runs this country. Corporate America owns this country. McCain and Mitt, no thanks.

Crist is certainly a contender, but Florida isn't the only key state. Romney would bring Massachusetts and Michigan. McCain badly needs to shore up conservative confidence in his candidacy--Romney has far stronger conservative credentials than Crist (if you doubt, go back and watch the video chronicling conservative reaction to his "suspending the campaign" speech at CPAC).

No one mentions this, but he also brings strong international relations experience from his Olympics days where he dealt with the Olympics committees of more than 200 nations, resolving many sticky (read political) issues. He headed the efforts to receive leaders of those nations and met with many personally. Neither McCain, Hillary or Obama can claim anything that compares, let alone other veep choices.

His command of practical economics is unimpeachable, something our nation is in dire need of, but an admitter McCain deficiency. Another problem with Crist (and most other choices)--everyday voters outside of Florida have never heard of the guy.

So, I would agree, choosing Romney because of his fund-raising prowess would be pointless--he's going to do that anyway. But there's a whole host of better reasons that put him head and shoulders above the other options.

It's doubtful that McCain will pick Romney. It's rumored that the two don't get along. Plus, Mitt destroyed his credibility with his swing to the left in Mass. and recently his veering to the right, to pick up right wing nut votes, in the primaries. Romney's vacillating has been a real shame since his fiscal abilities are greatly admired by social liberal, fiscal conservatives, like me.

Romney would be a great candidate if Huckabee and his minions hadn't smeared him in the primary campaign. As it stands now, Romney could help McCain only in the West, where his help isn't really needed.

Again, Romney is the best-qualified person in the Republican party to be president, let alone vice-president, but the bigots have had their way.

McCain will not pick Romney because Romney will overshadow him. McCain will win in November without Romney because the Democrats are too fractures and because Obama continues to show that he is a light-weight - in both domestic issues (he rarely votes on legislation) and foreign policy (he is naive when it comes to dealing with terrorist states).

Not to rain too much on your parade, but most US Mormons ARE right-wingers. It's the extreme right-wing evangelical Christians who believe the LDS church is not Christian who are really scared by Romney. That's kind of sad, too, because there's very little politically that separates the two groups.

McCain has enough baggage without putting Romney on the ticket. Use Romney's fundraising prowess by making him chairman of the RNC. He could use that post to put himself in the public spotlight much more than he could as VP, which doubtless would make him very happy indeed.

Even Rupert Murdock admits Obama will win in a landslide. People, get real, the economy has sucked under the Republicorps and we are in a war with no basis or justification and no end in sight and the real possibility of bankruptcy due to it. NO WAY does a republicorp win. Nobody loves Hussein, but he is THE alternative to John-stay-in-Iraq-forever McCain. Mitt is a nice guy, a silver spoon man, but he can not win a nationwide election either by himself or on a ticket as VP. People just don't like or trust Mormons. I'm one and I know it is true. Ain't gonna happen!

Why in heck would Romney hitch his wagon to a vacillating loser? Come to think of it, the two of them have vacillated so much on every conceivable topic that they may have a corner on the Vaseline market. Face it, the Repubs are going to hit with a big thud! On top of that, I see the Dems picking up 5 or 6 seats in the Senate. How sweet it is.

In fact, that seems more possible to me than Hillary being Obama's running mate. Excuse me, Obama's backseat driver with Bill sitting right next to her.

Mitt is a great man and I would love nothing more than to see him on the ticket with McCain. McCain needs someone strong in so many areas. Mitt does bring an awful lot to the table.

He brings:

*clear headedness
*integrity
*unequalled business acumen
*conservative governance
*morality and spirituality
*understanding of justice and mercy
understanding of the war on terror
*understands the border battle and spoke alot about fixing it.
*understands that Washington is broken and badly needs fixing...

America was stupid

The only baggage Romney has is that which has been heaped upon him undeservedly by people who just have to have someone to hate, the liars and mean spirited.

Romney may be too good for McCain though.... I guess we play this stupid waiting game for a while longer...

When sanctimonious Mitt became the first candidate in the 2008 Republican race to run an attack ad slamming Huckabee on his immigration record (when he had illegals working for him), it made me think it's a cheap tactic that makes me question whether a devil-praising Mormon who has put thousands of Americans out of work should be president ... or vice-president.

I love Romney too much to want him to have to be apologist for John McCain. Romney is conservative. McCain isn't. I don't want Romney to have to stand there while McCain grants amnesty, or enacts the cap in trade legislation. I am a die hard Romney fan (I voted for him), which is why I hope he is not chosen.

The only way McCain could possibly win is if he puts Romney on the ticket. McCain has already alienated the 40% of the GOP that voted for Mitt - the only way to get them back will be to put Mitt on the ticket. If he doesn't then he faces 40% of the GOP voting for none-of-the-above.

It lloks like McKain and the Demos are convinced that the "right-wing" is unimportant in politics anymore. Obama and Clinton are extreme "left-wingers" and that leaves the middle open - which is where McCain would have us think he sits. What would happen if he pick a "moderate" democart as his running mate so as to split the Demo vote even more - say maybe Joe Liberman?

The right gets frustrated and doesn't vote at all or votes Libertarian; the middle of the road Demos vote with Joe and McCain - and Obama is left with his extreme lefet wingers almost alone.

Romney is the best choice but belongs to the wrong religion. Had he been a member of any other mainstream religion he would have won the Republican nomination by a landslide. There is an enormous bias against the LDS faith that I have witnessed in the south and in other geographic pockets. McCain will take advantage of Romney's money machine for as long as he can, but Romney will never be his VP selection. Sad but true!

I have been hearing that the Intervmountain West is the important region this year, and who could deliver it better than Romney? Otherwise it's likely to go to Obama.

I don't think that it makes any difference if McCain and Romney don't care for each other. That has not been uncommon between presidents and vice presidents.

And I don't think it would be selling out for Romney to go on the ticket. McCain will really be too old in 2012. If Mitt could step right in from VP to candidate then, he would have an excellent chance. If they didn't win, Mitt should just go after Kennedy's senate seat at some point. He is the only one who has ever given Teddy a serious run for his money in the past.

Bobby Jindal? No experience! I think that he's only on the short list because Rush Limbaugh has been pushing for him.
