Of course the attorney's for JSD and the west side would opine that the Board was within its rights. That is the standard, self-serving approach. However, they would have to be complete economic morons if they can't see that taking a neutral asset (cash) and spending it on the west side changes the value and make-up of the assets the teams are trying to fairly and equitably divide.
It is abundantly clear that JSD's intention is to bleed the district and shift as much value as it can to the west side while leaving the east side to fend for itself. So much for fiduciary repsonsibility to the entire district until the split, and so much for that honor garbage Messers Christensen and Newbold spouted prior to the vote. And shame on Ellen Wallace for completely abandoning here constituents and consistently voting aginst their interests. You go, girl!
Thank you to the board for completing their business like they are directed to. The projects that were appropriated have been in the schedule for a while. Obviously the person above has no idea what it is going to be like on the east side and the west side after the split. The programs and the expectations that you have come to expect from Jordan School District may or may not be there. Think about what you have done to your friends on the west side who had no vote and had no choice in this matter. They have to live with the decisions made by others. At least Sup. Newbold and Ellen Wallace have some sense of what their job is.
The Kari Sue Hamilton school land was donated by a patron and has been in the works for a couple of years.
Vindictive? Nooooo! JSD (4-3 vote)is just trying to provide the urgent and ongoing needs of educating children.
Thank you Ellen Wallace for putting the needs of education above the politics of greed. Thank you for carrying out your responsibilities to the entire district.
How convenient that many on the east side forget that their vote to split the district was based on their stated desire for more local control. They repeatedly said it wasn't about money. What a snowjob! Mayor Cullimore is a deceiver. Now that east siders decieved their own voters, the real truth comes out - it is all about money.
Thanks JSD for doing your job. The need to spend this money is now. Playing politics or any other game that delays taking care of district needs would not be ethical or practical.
The bond election vote in 2003 authorized the spending that is currently being allocated by the board. As stated above, this bond was passed by east-side precincts as well as west-side precincts. The east-side team's attempts to stop these previously approved projects is an example of the wrong-headed sthinking that underlay the entire district split enterprise. Shame on the east-side team.
Spend the money, spend it all. Just like in a divorce. The west is the wife taking the husband the east for everything he has and is looking out for the kids. Way to go JSD board
The selfishness of the east side crowd (where I grew up) continues to astound and sicken me.
Since I know many of my neighbors a Book of Mormon packing believers, take another read of 3 Nephi 7:2.
