Riches yet undiscovered | 9:53 a.m. May 26, 2008
There beetles have been around for who knows how long. The potential to learn from them to build fast computers has always been there, but other cultures / peoples couldn't connect the dots.

When the Spanish came to the Americas they were looking for gold. They found what they were looking for. They sent shiploads of it back to Europe. A major effect of this was to create gold inflation in Europe. Unrecognized at the time was a source of much greater wealth that the spanish found and also sent back to the old world. It was much unappreciated by them in comparizon. This was patatoes, squash and corn. As a result of this wealth sent to Europe, Europeans were much better able to feed themselves. These new crops yielded much more per acre than the old style crops they were used to using.

Dorothy in the land of Oz always had the ability to go home, it was in her slippers. She didn't realize she had the power.

There are a lot of solutions to problems and great wealth all about. We just don't recognize them.
