I have never read anything credible to suggest Brigham Young ordered those deaths and I have read numerous excerpts that he was in Salt Lake city at the time of the deaths. Did brigham Young call someone on his cell phone to order those deaths? Please. It has been stated many times that he told a messenger to relay the message to let the travelers go; but that message arrived too late. Sure there was a local cover up afterward and more broadly at a church level(wouldn't you cover something like that up) but that does not make one guilty of murder.

Andrew--unfortunately, for those who would rather always believe the worst about Brigham Young and the LDS Church, no amount of evidence, nor the lack thereof, will sway their minds.
