Doesn't anybody find it odd that in a child custody case, which is supposed to be confidential "evidence" in the form of a picture, has been leaked? And if this person is a child, why is her picture everywhere? Should she be better protected? Even I could point her out, if I saw her. It makes me question her age.

If Carolyn and Flora Jessop are so wonderful, why aren't they called as witnesses? My guess is their reliability, in the legal sense, isn't up to snuff.

Wow Girl..... You better study the beliefs of the Early Saints and the TEACHINGS OF JOSEPH SMITH! You are so far off the mark my poor misled friend. Here is a Problem, THE MORMONS NEVER PRACTICED POLYGAMY! They Practiced PLURAL MARRIAGE! They are DIFFERENT! If you don't know or study it, you have no business commenting against the LDS beliefs.

Organized pedophilia, supported by these creepy pompadoured brainless saccharine voiced 'ladies'. I'm glad someone finally did SOMETHING with the FLDS, but this can't be a permanent solution.

Lets face it folks by any rational standard the FLDS folks are a bunch of whack jobs and CPS would do well to examine each child in the sect, prosecute those who have violated the law and if there is no recourse place children in foster care.

Having said that I'm disturbed by what is a blatiant attempt to "shut down" the FLDS and CPS is aparently willing to break the law and tear apart families to do it.

Are many of these kinds in danger from their folks? Aparently not. Are they going hungry or lacking medical care? Aparently not.

So why the circus? CPS could take its time and sort things. But no, they want to break all of these families in order to extinguish an entire faith.

Well if you do it to them who is next? I have a muslim coworker. Will you take his children because some other muslims practice multiple marranges, arranged marrages and don't follow our age rules?

Who else, will gays fall out of favor with the political elite, Lutherans? jews? Libras? Blondes?

Who?
For Baffled | 3:58 p.m. May 28, 2008
The people who are defending the FLDS are the FLDS. They are adopting fake personas to justify the ritualized abuse of children.

Where is the state board of ethics in regards to the release of that photo? When is it policy of the courts and CPS to release photos of "minors" for publication in the media giving the media the discretion to edit the face of the minor and who wouldn't consider the release of this a violation of the courts own rules to protect the privacy of a "minor" in court proceedings? Why was it left up to the young woman's attorney to have the files sealed a day AFTER the court released the photos? What makes it worse is that the photos were allowed into evidence without authentication and then released. I am horrified at the blatant use of unauthenticated images of what CPS is calling a minor being released to the press to incite public outcry. Where is the concern, how has her rights been protected? Is it now policy of the Texas Courts to splash images of "minors" in the press in total disregard of the privacy laws they have put in place to "protect" children just from such intrusion?

Fooled by the FLDS | 4:57 p.m. May 28, 2008
Polygamy, Plural Marriage or Polygyny, and polyandry is against the law as is sex with a minor. The state of Utah for too long has tolerated these "brothers" and looked the other way. It's time someone stood for what is right. There is a fine line between true faith and false religion and these sick people crossed it a very long time ago.

I can't believe anybody would be so ignorant to look for any excuse to defend this cult! These people are too mentally dangerous to be living around children. Put them all in jail if you ask me! If you defend this cult you are morally responsible for whatever dreadful things happen to these poor children. And it will happen. Don't claim later you didn't know. Wake up this is 2008! These defenders on here are sick themselves and utterly delusional.
Put em' in jail! | 5:35 p.m. May 28, 2008
The State of Texas Court of Appeals never said the warrant was invalid. It simply said that the coumpund should not be viewed as being one household, but multiple households. Any evidence seized is valid because the Good Faith Exception to the Fourth Amendment holds that if a judge issues a warrant and that warrant is later found to be invalid, it makes no difference as long as the officers serving the warrant acted in good faith.
As for the photo, it should be presented when Warren goes up for parole. It shows what a pig this man is, and frankly, those who believe that he "is perfect" are far too delusional to be raising children.

"What I can't figure out is why the State of Texas CPS has not raided some of the inner city neighborhoods of Houston and Dallas. Many young girls there are impregnated on a regular basis, and, seemingly encouraged to do so as this will increase the income on their welfare checks."

Well, if they did it in connection with a religious belief or sect, they would get raided.

Not to mention violating constitutional rights.

When I look at this picture I see lawlessness practiced in plain sight. With Jeffs anything that he says goes. It's like the people are in a trance. They just don't get it.

How could any man let a 50 year old guy kiss on his 12 year old daughter? Would you let a 50 year old man tongue kiss your daughter in the mouth in front of you? That man would be in jail today.

Did you hear about the R. Kelly case? The girl in the video was 13 years old - why are we trying to justify what Jeffs is doing? We should subject him to the same condemnation and punishment we would give to any other pedophile.

"Question: If the male/female birth ratio is 1:1 (about average) then if 20 children are born, roughly half will be female and the other half male. This is enough for each man to have a single wife. But at a 3 wife minimum there are only enough wives for 5 men. That means you have to get rid of at least half the male population once 20 children are born!! There is something evil in that..."

They have figured out how to control the sex of the babies. Not rocket science.

I find it amuzing that someone earlier actually tried to ask that we correctly save the word 'pedophile' for pre-pub girls. 12, 13, 14, 15---does it make that much of a difference- it's all sickening. What has this world come to?

One must inquire about the abundant baby grave sites at the compound (AZ) and unrecorded deaths...something to at least investigate.

Hey Killing baby boys,

Wow!!! I thought I was the only one that had ever heard about this stuff. Thanks for bring it to our attention, and something that definitely should be investigated. I heard also that they didn't seek medical help for the babies who were born with birth defects, and would just let them starve and die. Makes me sick! I heard this stuff about 30 years ago.

There have now been found some very shocking photographs. These are very sick people, who are engaging In child molestation and need to be put In prison!

I have been watching these blogs for a while now. While it might seem as though there are many defenders of sex abuse here, I don't believe that there really are that many.

I can tell by the language style that there are only a couple of FLDS that are using different names and continuously posting their sick defenses. They are on here constantly trying to convince the public that there are a lot of people who think like them.

Don't worry, it's part of the game. The majority can see through all of the blogging.
Jeanie | 9:48 p.m. May 28, 2008
Just so the general public knows that the FLDS AND the Mormon church are two seperate churchs, each with their own doctine and beliefs.

The FLDS is not a break off of the Mormon Church, anymore than the Cathlic church is a breakoff of the Muslin church.

Are the Baptist just trying to get Romney who is not a member of the FLDS, and resorted to cheap gossip?

Again this are two seperate churchs each with their own doctrince and beliefs. They are in no way one in the same and never have been.
Ing | 10:02 p.m. May 28, 2008
Deborah, right on. I haven't seen anybody defending sex abuse here. Maybe a couple of people defending polygamy, but that's not the same thing as sex abuse.

There are a lot of people trying to be voices of reason here, which is good. Unfortunately, there are still always a few like "bothered" above who want to paint everyone the same color and don't bother thinking about the entire situation.

There was a good post a couple pages back about the photo in this article. The photo is disturbing enough on its own--Warren Jeffs kissing an underage bride--but it isn't evidence against anyone except Jeffs, and he's already in jail for this sort of thing. Releasing the photo is an underhanded attempt to hijack the argument by manipulating people emotionally into the reaction the every FLDS member is a child-smooching pedophile, and it looks like it's working on a lot of people.

The FLDS might seem creepy, but seeing an agency like the CPS relying on innuendo and ad hominem misdirection to divert attention from their monumental overreaction is downright scary.
Put em in Jail! | 10:21 p.m. May 28, 2008
WRZ:

Not one constitutional right has been found to have been violated thus far. The search warrant, even if faulty, is constitutional under the Good Faith Exception to the Fourth Amendment. Due Process is being done. The First Amendment Free Exercize Clause has never been interpreted to allow polygamy. In short, every child molesting polygamist should be put in prison with their perfect prophet and the key should be thrown away.

if CPS didn't take all the kids at once, the yfz people would have quickly moved them all back to AZ/Ut or across the border into Canada. Don't forget about the mothers and fathers who protested Jeffs and his buddies taking their young daughters. They were threatened that they would lose their houses, their eternal reward, or the fathers were kicked out and the wife and kids reassigned and some of the mothers disappeared...where are they? If this isn't diabolical, I don't know what is. This is more than mind control.
Anonymous | 11:24 p.m. May 28, 2008
bradshaw is tall short too and cps said she was underage when she is 22...when she stands by her husband she looks like a teenage girl..anyway the couple should not be responsible for what someone might have done...it's like if your pastor was a child molester...the whole congregation would be accused because they atten his church...these accusions have no grounds, especially to remove a tiny babe from his mom...foster care isn't any better..may be cps works together with adoptions services...it's a horrible lucrative business...cps might get kickbacks from these businesses...that's why they always want to abuse of their authority and take people's kids from them based on their religion or lifestyle....there are so many underage pregnant girls in the cities of texas and yet cps do not give a crap..
Anonymous | 11:24 p.m. May 28, 2008
FLDS is a good scapegoat for them, for they can use someone jailed in Utah to take away kids in Texas!!! how crazy is that???
It started with a hoax, then so many lies (so-called lots of underage girls reduced to five), to pictures of someone who is alreay jailed in Utah!!!
If they have so many proof of these acts, I wonder why cps has not pressed criminal charges against teh abusers??!!! it's coz they don't have any proofs but lies!! all this to influence the public and judges...to justify their original b.s of taking kids away from their parents...abuse of power...and violation of parental rights! shame on cps!
Logic Doesn't Fly | 12:24 a.m. May 29, 2008
"...it's like if your pastor was a child molester...the whole congregation would be accused because they atten his church..."

Um no, if the congregation is not aware of the crime against a child, then no, they are indeed not culpable. However, if they are, and attempt to cover up the act, then they should be thrown in jail. For instance, all the adults in this community who allow daughters to be sexually abused by old husbands, should be sent to jail AND lose their kids(and yes, includes ministers, priests, pastors and elders who commit crimes or attempt to hide them should be held to the same standards- religion or no religion).
Spuggly | 12:50 a.m. May 29, 2008
i'm just wondering...what happens to all the young boys/men? do they "all" get an unlimited supply of "wifes" if they are one of the "chosen" ones? is there enough female children to to go around? are only the males that are financially productive granted multiple wives? there are just so many things to consider here. like, boys who do not meet the specs, are they tossed? or just stuck in servitude to god? (jeffs) i don't get it....nor do i get how nobody in FLDS knows nuttin, when all the state is trying to do is protect the children! obviously there are LOTS of things to hide! sad.....

I just looked at the all of the pictures on the smokinggun.com site... all I can say is "UGH, UGH UGH" how any of you people can try to defend that perv is beyond me. Check out those pics. There are two different girls and they are clearly both underage.
My thoughts | 7:11 a.m. May 29, 2008
Those pictures are so sick!!!! I am wondering about the parents of these girls?? Not sure who the mother is, but one of the fathers is Merill Jessup. He uses his daughters to gain leadership with Warren Jeffs. He did it even before Warren took over, with old man Rulon...Merill had 2 of his daughters marry old man Jeffs when he was 92.
These people use their daughters as poker chips, nothing more, nothing less. I think some kind of action needs to be taken about this man allowing this to happen to his daughters...he should be accountable and sent to prison...not sure what they could charge him with, but???
Even though Warren Jeffs is in prison..he is still in command and I am sure he has control over the millions of dollars he has in the bank...so, put 2 and 2 together...Merill is a bishop..I am sure he is getting a big chunk of money out of all of this. Sure strange we have not heard one word from old Merill...because...he is a coward....they all are...no backbone...no education...
Even the young Jessup was sickened by the picture of his sister with Warren Jeffs...or, so it seemed.

Religious Freedom ? | 8:58 a.m. May 29, 2008
All you have to do to illicit support from the majority of Utahns is to paint an issue as 'freedom of religion' or, more generally, as a freedom issue. The incidence of perversion and working the system (i.e., usually via welfare fraud) in these cults paints them much differently than the freedoms you think you're defending. Whacked behavior is whacked behavior - whether it's veiled in a 'fundamentalist sect', 'the one true church (of the many available' or outside the framework of any religious grouping. The true bent of a lot of Mormon self-defense argumentors is shining through in these pro-FLDS postings.
Alex | 9:04 a.m. May 29, 2008
To FLDS:

I will go to the mat for your civil rights and religious freedoms, but don't you dare tell me that those girls with Jeffs are not 12-13. You see, I take religious freedom very seriously. That is why I have stood up for it, even when other posters have wrongfully suggested that people like me are trying to justify child marriages in so doing.

It appears that you do not have respect for religious freedom though, because you abuse the good faith upon which it is based. That the CPS would take over 400 children from your mothers is abhorrent to me and I am with you there. I respect your right to live plural marriage as you interpret it, but condoning the taking of child brides through coercion, no way!

I pray that your constitutional rights will be protected. I also pray that any of your men that are involved in this will be swiftly thrown in prison and incarcerated for the rest of their lives. Contrary to what you may think, there are people out here ready to defend your rights, but if you abuse their good will, don't count on it to continue.

Jane | 9:09 a.m. May 29, 2008
One thing that I keep seeing here is that much more sexual abuse happens in "mainstream" life. It sounds like the presence of crime in some situations makes it okay for institutionalized crime to occur in the FLDS "households."

First, the girl in the photo is clearly not an adult. She looks like a little girl. With so many FLDS interbred, you don't see grown women that short and underdeveloped. Even with Jeff's height, she is not at a full adult height for this community or most other communities.

Second, sex abuse does not happen routinely, nor is it endorsed by parents in mainstream communities. While some exists, it is seen as a crime and punished as such.

Third, most of the teen pregnancies that do occur in mainstream are between consenting teenagers, not a result of rape of a minor by a full grown man.

I raise my son to be chaste, to respect girls, to save himself for his wife, to concentrate on his studies and work and family life. To characterize people outside the FLDS as evil is self-righteous, false and ignorant. It is to deny FLDS sin which clearly exists and is institutionalized even.

This stupid pictures look fake and one has the face smudged out. All i can see are pictures of two people wearing the same color dress which proves NOTHING. The are probably two different women. Even if it was a 12 year old SO WHAT ? Expecting a woman to give her baby up for adoption because someone kissed ??? IDIOTIC !!!
Grandpa Phil | 1:20 p.m. May 29, 2008
Uhm, irrevalent", the faces on the pictures were smudged out by the media after CPS released the actuals to them a few days ago (roughly akin to closing the barn door after the cows got out). CPS was the malefactor in this case by releasing the photos to the public in violation of the regulations protecting the identity of abused minor children - something I would have thought it was their responsibility to protect, not exploit. I agree that one man kissing a little girl is not grounds for the State taking all of those children from their parents. CPS was hoping that the media frenzy caused by the likes of Nancy Grace and others would sensationalize the pictures and overshadow their lack of relevant testimony or evidence. Many swallowed the bait hook, line and sinker and I really hope they choke on it. The testimony and evidence in the case of each family needs to be revelant only to the welfare of THAT child in THAT family. If Jeffs is a jerk (OK, strike the "if' part) then Jeffs needs to be held accountable for his transgressions. He's in jail now. Let it GO. Pay attention to the children.
Alex | 1:38 p.m. May 29, 2008
irrelevent:

"Even if it was a 12 year old SO WHAT ? "

What do you mean, so what? That is a little girl! How young is too young for you? 10? 8? 6?

"Expecting a woman to give her baby up for adoption because someone kissed ??? IDIOTIC !!! "

I agree that pictures of Jeffs making out with young girls is not a sufficient basis upon which to take custody away from an entirely different mother. That said, these photos do not support the FLDS assertion that such behavior is not occurring in their compound. Oh, and by the way, it is not just "someone" who kissed. It is Warren Jeffs. This does matter.
COSMO | 2:02 p.m. May 29, 2008
Old Farts marrying young girls, Hang Em High!

However,if CPS is thinking of using published photos
for a court case,I think the words, tainted evidence
comes to mind.
If this is how law is conducted in Texas, would there
be any objection of showing the video of the Court appointed Child Advocate, Dan Carroll, that he made of himself molesting children. He works in Texas, ye haw!I hope Judge Walther did not employee him, or
CPS for that matter. I wonder what Marleigh Meisner will have to say about the Texas Child Protectors
Purity? Fresh off the press. Ya All.
Vicki | 3:17 p.m. May 29, 2008
What people seem to overlook when discussing the pictures is that it was made very clear in court from the beginning the pictures were of other people. They wanted to know if the couple knew the individuals in the picture and if so, who they were. If you see the pictures, it becomes very clear to any rational person that a child was being abused. The kiss was no innocent kiss, and the title of one page was "1st Anniversary," or something to that effect. The laws are very clear, if you are aware of a child being abused, you are held accountable, by law, to report it. This man claimed it was his sister, but was unaware of this marriage. If that was a picture of your sister, the law would have right and an obligation to pull you in and question you about it too. If you are aware that your sister is being abused, you have an obligation to stop it.

Anyone who has ever lived around this sect knows children are systematically abused. I cannot understand anyone who would object when others try to stop that.

Slippery Slope | 4:08 p.m. May 29, 2008
Ok so some people think kissing on mouth is abuse. That depends on your culture but ok maybe it is "sexual" !

Now what about a man hugging a young girl with her breasts pressing against his chest ? Surely that should be illegal ?

How about a man picking up a girl with her buttocks pressing against his arms ? Isn't that abuse ?

What if a man can see an "underage" girl and this causes him to think dirty thoughts ? Shouldn't this be prevented too ?

What if female relatives touch them ? isn't that lesbian sexual abuse ??? It could be so better safe than sorry...

So here is the solution ..
All girls under 18 should be forced to wear veils so nobody can look at them and no physical contact allowed with anyone because it might be sexual.

From now on infants should change their own diapers because it is bad to touch them down there. {unless they are over 18 years old }

Would having to go through life restricted by other peoples perverse fantasies really be worth it ?

I think NOT !

Slippery Slope:

"Ok so some people think kissing on mouth is abuse. That depends on your culture but ok maybe it is "sexual" ! "

Dispense with your moral equivalency argument. These are photographs of Warren Jeffs passionately kissing girls who by all measures, are not any older than 13 years of age. The label indicates a 1 year anniversary. I don't think kissing on the mouth is abuse, but kissing a child on the lips in that way is.
