CPS: Have you asked Carolyn Jessop for her and her children's DNA? Perhaps CPS can determine which ranch children were fathered by her ex-"husband"? Then that could perhaps show he fathered children by minors.

Question: If the male/female birth ratio is 1:1 (about average) then if 20 children are born, roughly half will be female and the other half male. This is enough for each man to have a single wife. But at a 3 wife minimum there are only enough wives for 5 men. That means you have to get rid of at least half the male population once 20 children are born!! There is something evil in that...

i can't believe all the comments that this photo is not sex abuse. what is wrong with this country. people hate bush so much that since he is from texas, they fail to see that not everything in this state is related to bush. my gosh! i am a die hard democrat and even i can see this is abuse. what is wrong with you people. if a 50 year old man took my child and kissed her like this i would be in prison! get off your rockers people. what do you need kiddie porn for proof?

Warren Jeffs is exactly were he should be and these pics prove it. I hope they never get their children back! It is nothing but a perverted bunch of old guys taking advantage of children. And then there are the women who apparently don't mind if their little girls are molested because they themselves are so brainwashed and backwards!
John | 8:03 a.m. May 28, 2008
Let's see. The premise for the raid was a fabrication. The "bed in the temple" story was groundless. There's never been presented as factual any "50 year-old men marrying 13 year-old girls." My favorite story was that 8% of the FLDS kids having had broken bones was evidence of abuse. Whatever.

So now we're to believe the latest story. Right.

The only real story here is religious bigotry by a government agency gone bad.
Brain Washing | 8:14 a.m. May 28, 2008
WOW! These sect members are brainwashed from birth by a very sick man to believe they have a better way of life. Amazing how these sexual predators keep producing more children to be abused and the cycle goes on and on.
Humm.... | 8:18 a.m. May 28, 2008
The picture is one of Jeffs kissing what appears to be an underage girl. My question is why is this relevant? Jeffs is in prison, and was not in Texas. I don't approve of what these people do, I don't approve of what we did either in our early history (it was a mistake in my opinion...based upon my own research). However, there is little doubt in my mind that Texas exceeded the rights protecting individuals from unreasonable search and seizure, and that should be a concern to all of us.

I just hope for the kids, that things are done right for them. That's what we all should be worried about, there are good foster families out there. I have seen both sides of the fence. My husband and I provide a home for kids, that aren't protected in their homes.
Texas Pete | 8:43 a.m. May 28, 2008
Fine, remove the offender, the guilty, Mr. Jeffs from the situation, dont remove the whole community. Ooops, Jeffs was already long gone when our great government decided to separate the innocent from their mothers.

If this is all the nanny state can produce, then I support the appeals court finding that these people are innocent until proven guilty.

No I do not condone or approve of their way of life, but I know I could be next if we continue to let our government not follow the due process guaranteed by the Constitution (State & Federal) .

Google the 'Jeffs' photos and you will find 3 sets of pictures. I have seen other FLDS pictures of Rulon Jeffs and 2 young girls given to him on his birthday as 'wives' in the very same style as these photos. I do not believe they are doctored. The photos imply Jeffs' practice of underage marriage and Bradshaw admitted he is perfect in her eyes!
These children are taught these illegal principles. The intent it to continue these principles, the proof in the Bishop's records is there already, and the testimony. PLEASE comparing this to a President kissing a baby is absurd!!!! Have YOU no shame.

Agree - how can you NOT know who lives in your house or where you lived in the past?
Kristena | 9:23 a.m. May 28, 2008
It's amazing that anyone would think that the baby isn't in any danger! True beliefs are beliefs, but let me ask you this, What if it was your daughter wanting to go stay the night at Warren Jeffs house? Would you feel comfortable with that?? And if not why? I don't care how old the picture is, if they girl in the picture is under the age of 16 then it's wrong wrong wrong!!! NO ONE kisses a child like that and if it IS his daughter, THAT'S EVEN WORSE!!!! If Jeffs is having multiple relationships, who cares, but if these relationships involve children I CARE! How do you know that that innocent baby isn't going to grow up beliving that it's ok to marry your brother, cousin, uncle or even father! That is not ok! NO WHERE IS THAT OK!!!! That is child abuse! These children need to be placed in homes where they will be able to learn about any beliefs and any culture, traping a child to believe only what YOU think is right, is WRONG! Now again I ask you, Would you let your child be associated with Jeffs??????
Pat | 9:28 a.m. May 28, 2008
Thesde sect groups know EXACTLY what they are doing. They deliberately do not marry legally because of age and too as long as our stupid government pays women to have kids out of wedlock then this will go on. They all get assistance from the government, so that way the men who impregnate them do not have to work and support them.

Talk about defrauding the government. These sects take in millions of dollars a year due to the number of kids they have and the legality of them not being married so us taxpayers have to support them.
C.L. Nelson | 9:41 a.m. May 28, 2008
It's a shame they (FEDS) didn't crack down on this religious atrocity many years ago! These communities and children have been brainwashed! Their minds are led to believe they "must" submit themselves for spirituality! I condone this entirely! Why do our innocent children have to suffer under the hands of sick minded overly sexed older men at all? Children will suffer emotionally, physically, and spiritually the rest of their lives! No doubt about that! This religious practice is another American atrocity! Our government should have NEVER allowed this to thrive among us in the first place! However, we do believe in religious freedom! Not sacrificing children for sexual fulfillment! Boy oh boy do they have to answer for this atrocity in the next life! How can anyone feel good about themselves when they take away the innocence of youth? This religious belief is twisted and immoral!
Parents protect their children | 9:54 a.m. May 28, 2008
Really people do you hear yourselfs.. these are children.. young girls.. We as parents need to protect them and lead them away from harm.. not in to it I don't care what reglion you study. It's now 2008 and I don't understand why we still have FLD groups.. marry children ? It's disgusting.I believe once this is all clear.Parents should be the blame for not protecting there children and should have their kids taken away.. they have done enough emotional damage that will take years to over come.

AND OUR ATTORNEY GENERAL, MARK SHURTLEFF, HAS THE AUDACITY TO STAND IN FRONT OF THE FLDS COMMUNITY IN A MEETING AT DIXIE COLLEGE ON MAY 8TH, 2008, AND SAY THAT POLYGAMY SHOULD NO LONGER BE A FELONY!

Shurtleff is a disgrace to the rule of law.

"but honestly it's their church leader, not their church members. If we acted on things like this then Catholic families that had pedophile priest should have their kids taken away since it was their leader that abused a child."

Those committing the crime and HAVING KNOWLEDGE of the crime (ESPECIALLY ASSULT ON MINORS) should be towed away. Fathers, mothers, and yes priests and others who attempt to hide such disgust.

The pictures are gross. What disturbed me is when Warren Jeffs is called "perfect" I guess those people think he is "GOD"

The issue here for me, is these peoples "presumed guilt." Much talk while spending much of our tax money. Also much money spent trying to find out what illegal act may have occured. Ruined lives without recourse. I used to believe only alifornia was worthy of Commie tactics. The Texas CPS must have trained in the Republik De Calif.

What a laugh that Dan Jessop said, "You and I don't know if the state of Texas fabricated that."

Sure. Like those officials have absolutely nothing better to do than play on Photoshop all day to incriminate a man who is already in jail.

STATE OF VIRGINIA LAW

Individuals older than 18 who forcibly kiss a child younger than 13 would be guilty of aggravated sexual battery under a bill that is advancing through the General Assembly.

Del. Riley Ingram, R-Hopewell, is sponsoring HB34, a bill that would add tongue kissing "with lascivious intent" to the list of crimes currently considered sexual battery.

The bill advanced out of the Senate Courts of Justice Committee today without opposition. It has already been approved by the House of Delegates, which passed the bill by a 98-0 vote.

Under state law, an aggravated sexual battery conviction can carry a penalty of one to 20 years in prison and a fine up to $100,000. Ingram's bill would impose a different penalty for improper tongue kissing; those convicted of that charge could be sentenced to one to five years of confinement, or up to 12 months in jail and a fine up to $2,500.

Anonymous | 12:24 p.m. May 28, 2008
Ingram said the bill came at the request of a constituent who learned her 10-year old daughter "was being French-kissed by a child care provider's husband who was 62."

The goal is to have individuals guilty of such an offense placed on the state police Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors registries, Ingram said.

The reason Jeffs is pertinent to this case is because he is still influencing them from prison. They think he is being persecuted and is a martyr. The things he has done are very evil...besides lowering the age of these so called marriages to suit his never satisfied sex perversions, he has put them in compounds, restricted education, encouraged lying, theft from the government, dishonesty, ousting boys, and men, reassigning people to other men, humiliating the people, intimidating with fear or hero worship...taking away freedom of choice for the children, women and men...that is what is the worst...taking away their freedom...it is all evil incarnate. And I'm not sure they haven't done a bit of kidnapping and maybe some murder. These things spiral downward. Remember Jim Jones...

i do not believe in the flds but the texas cps is way out of line. if we go by what cps say then only children between 12 and 17 are at risk not ever child. cps is holding the children on what they believe may or may not happen in the future. cps could give the kids back on conditions that the cps workers do home inpections and home studys and that the kids may not move out of state. as for the photos there is no information on how old these girls are just dates and what cps says is young girls but then cps messed up already when they said some of the woman where teenagers.
Vicki | 12:25 p.m. May 28, 2008
Mary, I was born and raised in Texas and never in my 50 years witnessed this lifestyle there. (This sect came to Texas only a short while ago) But, for 3 years in the early 80's I lived in small town Utah at which time I did see this going on. I also saw members of the Mormon church laugh about it and look the other way. When I asked why a young girl would want to marry an old man with 3 other wives I was told that was all she knew. She would not realize there was a better way of life. I don't know that Texas has handled it right, I just know that it should have been handled someway, and should have happened long before they showed up on Texas' doorstep. The thing that suprises me most is that anyone from small town Utah would act suprised that Mr. Jeff would be kissing on a child bride. This has been going on there for a long time. I think a lot of people in that area think you're not a pedophile if the child wears a ring. A pedophile's a pedophile...

I know that there can be differences with CPS however, for the most part they work for the protection of children. I can see why they did what they did. it should be taken on a case by case basis however, when there is probable abuse all have to be protected. I will say that having to work with CPS on a regular basis, the problems that are encountered on most fronts are families who do not take care of their kids. I would venture to say that some speaking againest CPS in this forum are in some cases, not taking care of their kids and they want to shift blame on CPS instead of them taking responsibility for their children. Those of you reading this forum need to be aware of those who will blast CPS to get the heat off their own backs for not being responsible parents
Anonymous | 12:38 p.m. May 28, 2008
The more I think about these photos, the more creeped out I get. Why?

The woman pictured is allegedly a minor. By CPS definition, she is a victim of sexual abuse. That is on BOTH counts she should be entitled to privacy and confidentaility. So what does CPS do?

They plaster her picture all over the internaional media. They tell us virtually all information needed to identify her except her first name. Then because she is allegedly a victim of sexual abuse, CPS tries to allege that it is unsafe for her own brother and sister-in-law to live in the same building with her. Boy am I impressed with CPS "protection" here!

And we won't even talk about all the media jumping on the gandwagon to publish the pictures.

shame on warren jeffs, the child's parents, and the deseret news for publishing the photo. maybe now every pediphile can have another souvenier for their collection.

What has happen to this country? Anything and everything is ok! The liberals have made sure that we are loosing our freedom every day as our brave service men fight for our freedom so that the loons and America run amuck. When are we as good americans going to stand up for our freedom ,(not liberalism) We need to know the difference. Has america drank the Kool Aid? And our enemies dont evan have to fight we are doing a great job ourself's by letting the libs run our education, judical system, morals down to the ground. America will be no more very soon!!

Utah's Attorney General needs to protect these kids.
outraged! | 1:13 p.m. May 28, 2008
I can not believe that the Texas courts will not look at this issue closer! There are tons of people, men and women who have escaped the wrath of the FLDS, have written books, articles etc about their experiences in the FLDS, and every single one says the same thing about this "religion." This is all these people know so of course they don't think they are doing anything wrong! And if any of you have not read Carolyn Jessops story you must go now and read it.
In this article they mention a wife of Merrill Jessop named Barbra and in Carolyn's book she speaks often of this woman (they were sister wives) and Barbra seems like Satin personified, and innocent children are living around her.(and this is only but 1 example) This is completely unacceptable behavior and they are using God to justify their twisted ways. If they think they are going to heaven then I can't wait to meet them all in Hell and have the last laugh!
Skeptic | 1:26 p.m. May 28, 2008
How in the world do you personify SATIN? Does that mean the person is all smooth and fun to touch? Very strange to claim that.
Wolf in Sheeps Clothing | 1:41 p.m. May 28, 2008
Anyone here defending the actions of Warren Jeffs "Kiss" is delusional. Period. How can you sleep at night? I grow tired of the insane argument you FLDS'ers use about the evils of the outside world. That since there are far worse people out there doing evil things, the FLDS aren't that bad. Pathetic. When will you people wake up? The slaughtering of the young impressionable mind should be met with severe punishment. The ability of a single person to wield unlimited influence on young people is extremely dangerous. As a 12 - 14 year old... how do you make your world right, when the people you trust most pervert your views. When the tell you it is "From God". You can't reason against that. NO CHILD SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO EXIST IN THAT ENVIRONMENT. It is the enslavement of the mind that is far worse than the violations of the flesh. The brain washing and customs of the FLDS is a product of Lucifer and I pitty the fools who will stand before God one day.

By the way... anyone who thinks that "kissing" in the photo is innocent, needs professional help.
I agree Vicki! | 1:43 p.m. May 28, 2008
I agree wholeheartedly with Vicki's post. I too was born and raised in Texas and I think part of the problem is that this "culture" is so ingrained in Utah's history that people do tend to look the other way. They may not condone it, but they're not going to step out and do anything about it either. Does anyone in Utah REALLY believe that Warren Jeffs and his followers don't "marry" teenagers?? If so, what rock have you been hiding under? I think a big part of the problem may be that the LDS church does not want any more negative attention brought to what I would call the "seedy underbelly" of the Mormon faith. If the LDS church wants to separate itself from these kooks, then it needs to encourage Utah government to be more proactive. I know this is getting better (Warren Jeffs in jail, etc.), but it still doesn't seem to be enough. Texas CPS may have mishandled, but at least they're not sitting idly by and laughing at the poor uneducated teen girls that don't know any better!

Last I was aware, polygamy is illegal. All of the 'willing' mothers and fathers should be rounded up and jailed and all of the children should be fostered out. Polygamy is disgusting. The men from these groups have been having relations with underage girls since polygamy first started. This is common knowledge.
Men who have sex with underage girls are disgusting and should be in prison with other disgusting men. Women who allow men to have sex with their underage daughters are pathetic and weak and need a reality check. Stop being filthy pathetic women. Protect your little girls from having their tiny bodies ripped open by old nasty men. I don't get what is the matter with these people. They need to be stopped.
The people who live under the 'prophet' Warren Jeffs are dillusional and worthless to society. If they are not willing to acclimate to productive living, they should be eliminated and put in prison.
Betty | 2:00 p.m. May 28, 2008
If the FLDS church is so worried about their children; where are the fathers? They are hiding like thedeviants they really are. I am from Idaho and I wonder why the state of Utah has let this go on for so many generations. The sexual abuse, the welfare fraud, mental abuse is just one of the many issues that is at stake here. Where is the State of Utah??? It's your taxes that are paying for this atrocity to continue.
FLDS men: If you really are men (joke) step up and be responsible.
Stephanie | 2:01 p.m. May 28, 2008
I am all about freedom of religion! That's why we live in AMERICA, so we can choose which religion to follow. I draw the line and fail to see how a 60 year old man can enter into a "marriage" with a 12 year old CHILD. That is not religion, it is CHILD MOLESTATION. The state of Texas did the right thing!
skeptic | 2:09 p.m. May 28, 2008
I have no clue who you are, or where your view is on any of this. But your statement about "satin" was HILARIOUS!!!! Sorry, just had to say that.....
Grandpa Phil | 2:12 p.m. May 28, 2008
Wrong "Jim". Some of us speaking against CPS have been involved as Foster Parents in Group Homes and have dealt with CPS on many levels for a long time. What we see in Texas are typical Gestapo tactics and procedures reminisent of the actions taken against the Jews in Warsaw Poland. What we do NOT want to see is this kind of blatant disregard for individual and familial rights extend its ugly arm outside of Texas and destroy families elsewhere. This kind of illegal CPS activity must be stoppped here and now. I have 9 children and nine grandchildren and only one has ever had a brush with CPS in NC. Once, when we objected to how CPS was taking children from homes wrongly, "a concerned citizen" reported us to CPS saying my wife was neglecting our infant daughter by not generating enough breastmilk for her. We had to take her to get a physical with CPS watching to clear ourselves from a charge of neglect. All of this while we were foster parents to 8 troubled teenage foster girls. It was all an effort to tell us to SHUT UP, OR ELSE!!!! Yes, we know how CPS works.
GIMMEABREAK! | 2:35 p.m. May 28, 2008
Children having sex with men, boys being outcast for being boys, and men having multiple wives with numerous children are all crimes that should be dealt with. CPS had every right to take those kids away, whether false pretenses or not.

We all have to remember that we MUST do everything in accordance with what is "Best for the Child". Being in that cult society is NEVER good for any child.
Jonathan | 2:37 p.m. May 28, 2008
@Evelia
I think you're off a little bit. Those soliders, they aren't fighting for OUR freedom - our freedom was never in jeopardy. Well I take that back, our freedom is more in jeopardy now then it ever way - look at all we've lost over the past decade and that's been a majority of republican's in office. It was Bush who wanted No Child Left Behind, not the libs , but what does it matter any political group will destroy this country - everyone's too busy watching NASCAR and figuring out who to blame for their misfortune to care...it's more like the frog in boiling water.

The biggest issue here is that Texas went in with only a phone phone that was fake and unsubstantiated. But it's not surprising, seeing as how we went into Iraq under the same circumstances and people don't care.
deb | 2:55 p.m. May 28, 2008
These pictures are of Warren Jeffs! He is already in jail, so add some more time to it! Prosecute him! They have NOTHING to do with the Jessop baby and their family!! That is the problem this judge and court have had all along NO EVIDENCE and what they say is evidence doesn't come close! This photo could have been taken anywhere, not nesessarily even on the ranch> And they won't tell where they got the photo? Now who's lieing? The same ones that have lied all along-CPS!!!!!
Baffled!! | 2:56 p.m. May 28, 2008
Why are certain people in such a rush to defend this FLDS? These men are obvious sickos and have obviously brainwashed their followers into blind faith and commitment. I think the term commonly used these days is "kool aid drinkers"....as in poisoned kool aid....anyone remember that friendly gathering of "sect members"? I am very disheartened by those involved in this discussion who actually believe that Warren Jeffs and his band of cradle-robbers are just "misunderstood"......married to 12 yr olds....shameful!!!
GB | 3:01 p.m. May 28, 2008
A lot of comments on this comment board are pointing out that "the FLDS" are a bunch of old men raping young women. Of course none of us who are expressing sympathy for the FLDS's situation is disputing that a child who is raped should be separated from the rapist, even if the rapist is the parent. Where that was going on, by all means take the child. But what about the monogamous families from whom children were taken (yes, there were some)? What about the women who didn't have sex as minors (there were some of those too)? Doesn't it bother you at all that children were taken from those families? Not a scrap of evidence against the parents, yet it's okay to take the children? Really?
disgusted | 3:09 p.m. May 28, 2008
i'm from nj and thre are crimes of this sort in every corner of the world. the only difference is that where i'm from you would not find many people defending the actions of warren jeffs.....no wonder there are sooooooooooo many sex offenders in utah. they should just put a high fence around the whole state.

The reason why everyone is rushing to defend these sickos is because they are probably polygs themselves.
