He's my hero. What a man.

Our prayers and thoughts are with you and your family. It is hard to know that Lt. Ammon is gone, but heartening to know that he was doing good when taken from this life.

Bless this man. Sorry this had to happen. Not time for a polemic...I just wish this was the most read article in the online paper today.

I got to watch many people take the vows last night as soldiers to protect our country, they vowed to follow the orders of the President and their superior officers. Lt. Ammon did this same thing in leaving the ocean and taking land orders. This is what truly makes them heroes, they do whatever they have to in order to protect us even if it means an unusual or dangerous job or mission. Lt. Ammon is the hero all the more because he took his mission seriously even though he did not understand it at first he immersed himself in it and then recommitted to the same mission later when he had the opportunity to leave. This is the true spirit of our armed services, they give all even their lives, they give their lives not only through death but through service and time away from home in order to make life better, happier and safer for all of us. Thank you Lt. Ammon, you are a true hero of our country and of those whose lives you made better in an area of the world with much less opportunity.

It hurt every time a American is kill in Afghanistan. I spent a year there. We are doing the right thing there, and it sounds like Lt Ammon knew it. May God help his family through this hard time.

Thank you for this article. Those of us who have family and/or friends on active duty with the armed forces appreciate the service Lt. Ammon did. My husband has told me how much he loves the country of Afghanistan. He is fascinated by the culture and is in awe of the beauty he sees. Lt. Ammon and all other good soldiers give so selflessly of themselves not just to serve the USA but also the innocent people of Afghanistan and Iraq, etc. They see the need for change and are doing what they can to affect that change and improve the lives of the people who are in such desperate need of improvement and education. They are true heros, as Brandon said in the above post. Thank you.

Can we leave now? I'm tired of reading stories like these. How much longer does this have to go on? How many more Lt. Ammons need to die before we find a better way?

Sir, Thank you for Standing up for what you know is true and Right. I'm 100% positive you planted good seeds in the communities you served.

To everyone else. If you vote for McCain Families like Lt. Ammon will not receive the securities that Lt Deserves.

As an Armed Forces Member, My family will also miss out on respected service from the Government. McCain will take all the Veteran Benefits from US.

My families' prayers are with you this night. My brother was a computer guy with the airforce, and he ended up in the desert as well, not once, not twice, but three times. He went where he was told to do, and he did what he was told to do. He was one of the lucky ones and came home alive. May our brothers, husbands, sisters, wives, daughters and sons all be able to come home when their work is done. And may they all be the heroes that Lt Ammon was. God bless your spirit Lt. Ammon and your family. You are my hero.

This needless loss of Lt. Ammons's life of service underscores the barbarity and evil of the enemy. That is why, paraphrasing McArthur, there can be be no substitute for victory there.

LT Ammon was smart, hard working, and patient. While serving with him at Power School, he spent many hours helping this dumb rock get through nuclear engineering training while amusing us with sea stories. He will be missed greatly, he certainly would have been a future CO and have command of his own Submarine, he was that type of officer. My deepest condolences to his family.
