Enough already! He lost! It's over....GET OVER IT!!!!!!!!!!

DO WE REALLY HAVE TO KEEP HEARING ABOUT IT?

DAVID COOK DESERVED IT MORE THAN HE DID! HE WAS THE BETTER TALENT! QUIT BEING SORE LOSERS......
Tom Vance | 5:58 a.m. May 23, 2008
We should all thank David A for his accomplishment!!! He is extremely talented, a great young man, and has a brilliant future ahead of him. I hope he appears in the Myrtle Beach SC area sometime in the near future. I will be sure to attend his concert. David finished 2nd but I think he is so well liked he will succeed in the entertainment field. GOOD LUCK DAVID !!!!!!!

I get to read out of state newspapers. They never built him up. No shock in any of the non---- papers.

I wish him success and good fortune. But his loss was not shocking anywhere outside the state.

I think that getting you education is very important, If it was me I would go If you don't you will regret it,back and graduate from whatever school you were going to at the time,
Re Amelia | 7:07 a.m. May 23, 2008
It's been said before, but bears saying again, Amelia... you get over it. Nobody here wants to except you and a few like you.

But if somebody has a gun to your head, forcing you to read the story AND the comments AND to respond, let us know, we'll come rescue you. Otherwise, go to the sports page, I think you'll find some friends over there.

David A took second place, please move on. After watching David Cook on J Leno last night I could understand his winning, not only for his talent but personality, witt, strengths and his speak with that of a nicely educated young man. He was well rounded. Good luck to David A as he continues to grow up and may he continue to entertain the teeny boppers or is the new term High School Musical fans
Lee | 7:36 a.m. May 23, 2008
Finally, the Idol got it right! If David A.had won, I would say the same thing. This entire group of contestants were the most talented of those before them. Look at the duds we got from the last two years.I truly believe that Brooke, Jason Castro,Syesha, and tattoo girl would have beaten the socks off of Taylor Hicks and that fraud Jordin Sparks. Also, this year's Idol got a tremendous boost in the ratings because of this great bunch of kids competing. David A. will go far. He was genuinely gracious to David C.and we will be hearing a lot from him in the future.
A plot! | 7:39 a.m. May 23, 2008
It's all a plot!. The refs/judges were out to get David A. They gave superstar treatment to David Cook. I'm sick of this, I'm never watching AI again.
Sound familiar, Jazz fans.
Klaus | 8:46 a.m. May 23, 2008
I'm with Lee, sort of. This year had a lot of talent, but I think Jason Castro should have gone earlier in the competition. The final was between two great guys with great talent. Still, David A. was amazing. The first time I saw/heard him he blew me away. I am still in awe just remembering some of his performances- Long and Winding Road, Imagine, Angels. Wow. It would be interesting to see both Davids perform together.
Anne | 10:11 a.m. May 23, 2008
I don't watch the program - get enough from the news online - however, the biggest reason I think - if you look back at the past winners - is his age. He isn't a legal adult yet and would require parents approval on any course of action taken. All of the past "idols" have been in their early 20's. Anyway, I think we need to rethink who or what we chose as "idols" :)
San Diego Fan | 10:28 a.m. May 23, 2008
We were pulling for David A. Neither David lost. They both won in my view. It was refreshing to see the sportsmanship, class, and obvious friendship and mutual respect that both displayed. I think both will go far and have much success and appeal. These two are far better than many past Idol winners. Good luck David A. Keep it real.
we know... | 10:31 a.m. May 23, 2008
They are both winners. But in a different, more accurate way, David Cook is the winner.
John | 10:33 a.m. May 23, 2008
I was really was upset that David A. didn't win.
I live in Flordia and a lot of people here voted for David A.
Life has to go on and I know that David A. will have sucess in his lifetime with music.
Life will never will be the same for him. Now he is a star and I don't care where he goes he will be treated as a star.
David Cook was good but I didn't feel that the other contestents didn't put there heart in the
music as David did.
we also know... | 11:07 a.m. May 23, 2008
that in a different, more accurate way, David Archuleta is the winner. He will not be tied down to 19 Entertainment. He will be free to choose how many albums he wants to do, how many tours he wants to do, who's going to write his music, who will be his musicians and backup vocalists, etc. Archuleta will likely have an album out before Cook.

Cook won the show fair and square, and that's cool - he's a great entertainer. But as anyone in the music business (like me) knows, the ideal spot to finish on Idol is 2nd.
Brenda | 11:13 a.m. May 23, 2008
I'm disappointed that David A didn't win but very impressed with the way David C handled it. He was humble and included David A as much as he could. Way to go.
Momof8 | 11:24 a.m. May 23, 2008
I really wanted David Archuleta to win this because he is a phenomenon. What a pure voice he has. I admit to feeling slightly devastated at his not taking the title, but I believe this was the perfect scenario for him. Just look at his attitude-he is all smiles and he also won. He has a pure talent and he sings the type of songs that don't go out of style. He's as great as Josh Grobin-give him a few years. He is such a great kid. Look at the guitar commercial they did, Cook came out in his undies, and Archuleta in shorts. That shows what a class act kid he is. David Cook is great and I am happy for him, but I believe he will ride the wave and will be forgotten in 2 years. He doesn't have a sound that is any different than all the other rockers out there.
I think AI needs to reevaluate the ways votes are cast somehow. Maybe have the judges vote on the final show.

Amelia, Don't feel too bad about being ordered out of this site. I totally agree with you, and find it hilarious that you've been given orders to report to the sports page to find people who like you there. Continue to speak up...the best man did win, and you are only pointing that fact out to these people who can't seem to get over it.
Re: Re Amelia | 12:04 p.m. May 23, 2008
What?!?! Hey, this is America...Freedom of speech, baby!! Amelia can write whatever she wants about the outcome of American Idol, and she doesn't even have to go to the sports page to find friends. Seriously, folks, lighten up, and be nice to Amelia.
Kyle from AZ | 12:48 p.m. May 23, 2008
Sorry people but the American Idol can't have the look of a 14 year old boy...doesn't fit sorry.

Sometimes blessings come to us in disguise. I think that is the case with our guy ARCHY he is just to young and innocent to be tossed to the wolves. there is plans for him to do other things before he does his thing in the music world.

"David, if you read this, good things come to those that wait. someone else has plans for you, and I think you know who that is. the saviour.
we know... | 2:15 p.m. May 23, 2008
re: we also know

Simon reatains the rights to the top finshers of AI, so David is not "free" as you say. Simon has first option to sign David A., and I think he will. And another thing, are you serious? Second place is best? Quick, name the successful second place finishers of AI. Hmm...I guess Clay Aiken...uh...oh wait, that's it. Name the successful first place finishers. Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood...uh, that's it so far. So, second place doesn't look as sweet. First place isn't even very sweet, but the ironic thing is that if David A. won, you would be saying how great it is for him. Just admit it already...

I guess being in the "music business" doesn't mean you know very much about it. By the way, getting piano lessons from your mother doesn't mean you are in the "music business."

Wish David A. well, but stop it with the sour grapes. He lost in a landslide. It doesn't mean he won't be successful from here. I hope he is. I just wish the David A. apologists would stop it already!
American Idol Fan | 2:56 p.m. May 23, 2008
To the previous message, any place is best on American Idol. Just in case you didn't know, both Elliot Yamin and Chris Daughtry are a total success, and neither one were runner ups. I think it all depends on the individuals and how serious they take their music. I honestly feel America got it right. Although I am a true fan of David Archuleta, David Cook was outstanding. They will definately both make it extremely far and I can't wait to hear of their success.

Can't wait until next Season, January '09.

Signed: A True Fan!

Something funny | 3:47 p.m. May 23, 2008
You know what I just noticed and I don't know if it was intentional or not but it is kinda funny. So David A takes 2nd place on American Idol. Well if they were giving out medals what color would his be for 2nd? Silver. The title of this article says "SILVER lining" Ha ha ha. Silver not gold.
Brenda | 4:07 p.m. May 23, 2008
To Amelia, Just because people are dissapointed, doesn't mean they can't get over it. I liked both Davids very much, but David A. a little more. I wish people could be a little nicer when they disagree. "Can't we just agree to disagree."
Celia | 5:52 p.m. May 23, 2008
Both Davids are gracious and talented young men. David C has more maturity and stage presence, and has a very nice distinctive sound. He is definitely ready to be the American Idol. David A is a wonderful and humble young man with a pure and clear voice which is a delight to listen to. He will continue to grow and mature into a great performer, and is well on his way to being a star in his own right. Congratulations and best wishes to both Davids. Thanks for being such good sports, both of you.

I'll buy David A's music...and I don't buy music.
eugene | 12:59 a.m. May 24, 2008
for filipino people David A is the best...
Diana in Kansas | 8:45 a.m. May 24, 2008
I voted for David A. but I felt David C. had better stage presence and was less predictable. I will buy David A. music but not David C. music. I wish them both great futures!
