Hey, Margaret Dayton, did you read this????????

Who do you think you really are? The female God of the Legislature?
The title leads one | 9:41 a.m. May 23, 2008
to believe they will actually say which 12 schools made the list. Lame article if I have to go to Newsweek to get the results.

I taught at an IB HS back East and it's a fantastic program. Legislators, get a clue!

The 12 schools are: West, Park City, Skyline, Davis, Highland, Lone Peak, Hillcrest, Alta, Woods Cross, Viewmont, American Fork, Olympus, in that order. I think the article should have named them too.

Yeah Park City!

How are you going to bolster your bogus "IB is anti-American" argument now?? Our schools are getting national rankings with these programs.

I hope you (and Buttars and Gayle Ruzika) eat every single one of your disgusting anti public education words with a heaping portion of public embarassment.

How you all ever managed to gain any clout or creditibility still amazes me.

If you click on the "Story Graphics" link in the upper right corner at the top of the article you will find the Utah schools and their rankings.

How Dayton, Stephenson etc. got their clout:

They are Republican. Utah voters go straight ticket too often and ignore who the candidate is (despite the prominent church's appeal to all its members to actively look into the issues and the candidates).

With so many who vote straight ticket, we lack a democracy in this state. Will it ever change? I doubt it because the people like it that way.

I agree. When, oh, when are Utah voters going to wake up and vote for the person, not just the R behind their name.
And what kind of Rs do we get? The kind selected by rabid delegates who certainly don't represent me.

Thank you Parent for Public Ed. This article was very poorly written by not including the names of the schools. Congratulation to West HS and the others on the list. For those who continually chop down public schools in Utah this is not good news. West is an example of what inner city schools can do.

Utah Democrats vote straight ticket too and vote the "D" behind the name as well, or you wouldn't have the strong Democratic representation you have in Salt Lake City.
That said, as a former moderate Republican candidate in the city, I totally understand why you do. You feel a need to react to and counter the likes of Buttars, Stephenson and Dayton and I fully get that. I don't like them anymore than you do.

Dear Des News,
Once again the headline was poor and the story inadequate to illuminate the achievement of students who go for scholastic challenge. If there had been a dozen Utah high school athletic teams that qualified for a national honor I bet that story would have been given top billing. It would be nice if "schools" could be more oriented to scholastics, and get real recongnition from the local press for their academic programs.

That said, congratulations to all schools who teach and students who take honors, AP and concurrent enrollment courses. What a great way to make high school really count.
