Appeals court rules Texas acted improperly in removing FLDS children

I call abomination abomination based on the words of Jacob.
I guess you can call the Texas ruling activist. However what do you want judges to do? Adsolutely nothing? If you want us to throw out the constitution, sepeartion of powers and give unlimited power to the executive branch than so be it. However admit openly that you hate the constitution and do not try to say that those of us who abhor what was done in California but support waht was done in Texas by judges are inconsistent.
The analogy is one of many false and misleading ones people have brought up.
Personally I think that statutory rape laws should exist. However, I still believe people are innocent until proven guilty and that you can not punish people because you dislike their belief system.
Beyond this just because someone breaks a law does not mean we should take away their children. Should we take away the children of everyone who tells their child it is ok to speed? What about removing the children of those who use radar detectors?
Anyway, if you read the actual ruling you will see that none of the children in question were ages 14-17 or at least the state had not proven any of them were. The ruling only deals with the children of the 38 mothers who brought the suit.
Girls are taught from birth that they are to be the servants of men -- their fathers, their husbands and their prophets. They are taught to "keep sweet" and give themselves "mind, body and soul" to whichever man is their priesthood head. They learn early on that the more children they have, the greater their heavenly glory.
Boys face the prospect that soon after puberty they will be encouraged or forced out of the community, or they will grow up to be criminals, practicing polygamy in the name of God and possibly becoming sexual predators by accepting without question any child brides they are assigned.
For both boys and girls, there is no chance to dream of anything beyond what the prophet tells them. And that is INHERENTLY ABUSIVE.
We need to change the laws so these kids' rights can be protected, without trampling on the rights of others. Not sure how - wish I knew.
Travesty.
and are more apt to be called A cult
Austin judges tend to be liberal. Enough said.
