The Reality Check, of who and what Berry H. Obama represents must finally be coming to light and the Reality Check of people thinking that he is all this and all that is in the light of day is f ailing to Cash. There are many reason not to Vote for him. The cold fact that he is Flaming Pro Choice and in favor of Partial Birth Abortion is way more then enough for me. Add to it his issues with the 2nd Amendment that should put any LIFE and FREEDOM loving American on Red Alert. A disarmed population is soon an enslaved population. We screamed our lungs and keyboard out against Catsup Boy, and thank God, Al Gore didnt get elected. However they Pale in comparison to this individual.

The poll includes Ralph Nader, taking votes from the Democrat, but not Bob Barr, the former Republican congressman from Georgia who has announced his candidacy for president as a Libertarian in the 2008 election.

Bad polling again.

What the United States needs is a leader in the White House, not some puppet CEO like Hillary, Obama, or McCain. This country needs new directions and leadership that will reinforce America and its heritage and its laws. We need a leader that can restore the soverignty of the United States and one that values the Constitution of the United States and the rights of the american people. None of the front runners meet the needs of the country, they only fit the needs of Corporate America. Corporate America has run this country in to the ground and made being an american a second class citizen and a third world country. The government of america is for its people, not CEO's and their constant badgering of our economy for the riches they so dearly crave. America riches lie in its citizens, not foreign nationals freely wandering the United States unencumbered and with welfare being freely given to these illegal aliens. In an economy of job losses and rising cost of living is cause to activly deport illegal foreign nationals, especially the mexican breed that flaunts our laws and rights as their own. Ron Paul is for America, not Mexico.

If you want McCain
You will see how out of touch Utah is with the rest of the Country
I can not believe Utahns do not know anything about Currant Events
Being a staunch Republican is just REDICIOULOUS
Kids in my area is not learning to work
They are playing Base Ball
oldman | 6:05 a.m. May 21, 2008
They should shift their support by sending their children off to McCain and Bush's war.
Really? | 6:29 a.m. May 21, 2008

To Utah 5:44 a.m. How can we take your comments seriously when you can"t write 2 words back to back without making some kind of drastic mistake?
Jasper | 6:54 a.m. May 21, 2008
What a surprise, the majority of Utah's populace would vote Republican. Is this something new? This state is so out of touch with reality and does not value diversity or change. All a politician has to do is mouth support for the two or three hot topics Republicans hold dear and he's a shoe-in. Never mind our young men and women die every day and hundred of Iraqi's share the same fate. Go ahead and do what Utah does best...lag the Nation and keep your head buried in your own little world.
Reality's hard slap | 7:09 a.m. May 21, 2008
The idea of Obama is much more appealing than the reality.
America has had a fling with the idea, it was heady and intoxicating, very Summer of '68.
As the reality of Obama rears it's ugly head look for the rest of America follow Utah in McCain's direction.
It will takre awhile, and some folks won't ever catch on (hello Oregon, anybody home?) But America is more like Ky and WVa and Ohio and Penn that Portland, Or.
Two thirds of Hillary's Kentucky voters say they will vote for McCain or stay home in November. And those are Democratic Primary voters.
Utah is a trailblazer in this instance.
T-Bone | 7:13 a.m. May 21, 2008
Hey "Utah" learn how to spell. Nice capitalization of the word "country"...and Currant??? Capitalized and misspelled. You're 2 for 2. And now for the trifecta..."REDICIOLOUS" Is that when something tastes good twice? It sure looks like your liberal education is paying off. And just because I'm a compassionate conservative I'm going to let
"can not" slide without comment and I'm not going to say anything about "kids in my area is not learning to work". But I will not let you get away with abusing the American pastime. It's baseball not Base Ball. Where do you want the kids in your neighborhood working comrade?
Kneejerk | 7:15 a.m. May 21, 2008
Utah votes not on real issues, but rather on Gays, Guns and God. Where were we to expect them to shift their allegiance to?
No kidding | 7:16 a.m. May 21, 2008
The majority of Utah voters support a Republican? Stop the presses! This is a real shocker!
Anonomous Party Official | 7:19 a.m. May 21, 2008
The only people allowed to hijack the party are the people who have already hijacked the party. It's a tactic that has been successful in other states.

That is why we have journalists like this one on staff.
no not all Utahns... | 7:20 a.m. May 21, 2008
Hey this Utahn does not support McCain! No way! It would be like putting in another Bush - Sorry but been there twice and don't want a repeat performance of another like him!!
Who else? | 7:20 a.m. May 21, 2008
I will withhold my opinion until I see his running mate.
McLiberal | 7:23 a.m. May 21, 2008
Senate President John Valentine, R-Orem, is a Romney delegate who said he'll gladly vote for McCain. "Why cast a vote for a candidate who is out of the election," Valentine said. "I think it would be viewed as a little bit odd."

--------------------

What is even odder, is a republican giving their vote to a liberal democrat like McCain. Too bad he had to cross Kennedy off of his short list for VP. Good thing he still has Fiengold and Lieberman as backup choices.
Not For Me | 7:28 a.m. May 21, 2008
I will never give my vote to any of the 3 so called front runners. This system is so corrupt now. Makes me puke! And I won't send my sons to die for Bush or McCain. Let along Obama or Clinton. Enough. Ron Paul is the ONLY HOPE for America. People need to wake up and google "End Game". Watch and learn People!
cunning linguist | 7:38 a.m. May 21, 2008
would this be utah if the state didn't vote for a crappy president?
D-new / KSL ????? | 7:43 a.m. May 21, 2008
I'm not sure how accurate of a poll it is coming from the D-news / KSL. Not the unbiased sources I would turn to for a fair analysis. I would say the SL Trib is the only truly credible news source in this state, and even they're a little biased on some issues.

Larry | 7:41 a.m. May 21, 2008
I agree with everything Bob G said except that I believe Obama is capable of governing the country. He is a leader and he is not a puppet. There were very few donations to his campaign that were larger than $200. Lots of folks like me donated $25 a few times, and even now his campaign treasure chest holds $37 million. He is not beholden to anyone. It will really come down to this. If you want the war in Iraq to continue indefinitely, vote for McCain. If you'd like to pull our troops out of that Civil War, then don't vote for McCain. In that event, Obama is the one to vote for.
Robert | 7:45 a.m. May 21, 2008
I hope the DNews didn't pay for this poll. Like so many other polls taken by this outfit, it merely states what ought to be clear to us all, without a poll.

Does the Deseret News make any effort to audit this poll taker? Most of the results of his polling are so obvious that a reasonably educated person could simply make up the numbers, report them as results of careful polling, then pocket the entire payment.
Out of Touch | 7:56 a.m. May 21, 2008
Talk about Utahns being out of touch. Ron Paul is so out of touch that he isn't even on the same planet as the rest of us. When I listened to the debates I thought his answers were not consistent with facts and not consistend with what I know about the consitution.

As far as McCain, Obama and Clinton I am to say the least absolutely underwhelmed with their positions. It scares me to think we will have one of these three as our next President.
Bruce | 8:02 a.m. May 21, 2008
Utah is predicable. While the rest of the country is looking for a change, you stay with deficit spending and corruption.
Ernest T. Bass | 8:04 a.m. May 21, 2008
LOL
What happend to all those outraged republicans who swore they would never vote McCain because he was mean to Willard Romney?
I remember hearing that Obama would win Utah because of the outrage.
Truth is Obama is by far the best option and McSame is the worst, so no doubt Utah will vote in droves for McSame.
Dick | 8:06 a.m. May 21, 2008
So what else is new. When was the last time Utah voted for a democrat for President? Aparently they must like the way things are going in this country because if Mcain gets in it will be more of the same.
Wow | 8:18 a.m. May 21, 2008
Right after Mitt quit, these message boards (NOT A BLOG) were full of people who said they would never vote for McCain (bush II). I guess awesomeron (first poster on this message board (NOT A BLOG)) is representative of the rest of you. Abortion is all that matters, even though republicans have no intention of ever doing anything about it. You forget about the economy which is in the toilet thanks to years of barrow and spend republicanism. You ignore the war until gas prices go up. What is really important is the big three. Gay marriage, abortion, and flag burning. By big three I mean the three least important issues in the country.

Go Utah Sheep!
Anonymous | 8:31 a.m. May 21, 2008
In Utah, Genghis Khan would be supported if he was Republican.
Gretzky | 8:32 a.m. May 21, 2008
Obama all the way baby! time for some radical changes to wake America up! time to have dialog with Iran and really find out what they are thinking. We need universal health care. too many americans are being ground into poverty by the likes of IHC and the rest of big business health care.
Brian Maxwell | 8:33 a.m. May 21, 2008
Robert, I worked for Dan Jones for 3 years, and conducted polls for him all of those years. I also supervised the polls for quality control for half of that time, and without question, Dr. Jones and his crew are absolutely meticulous about quality. Though the results might seem predictable, trust me when I say nobody worries more about the accuracy of these polls, and loses more sleep thinking of ways to garauntee accuracy, than Dan Jones.

And he's just deadly accurate. Ask any elected official who has had polling done who Utah's most accurate and trusted pollster is, and all of them will say it's Dan Jones.
Colorado | 8:37 a.m. May 21, 2008
What I never could understand is why people can't do a little research and make up their own minds instead of going along with the party line, the media and the emptiness of what these loser candidates spew out. McCain is a liberal - look at his record people! Listen carefully to what he's been saying. He's spoken of his desire for a one-world government, belives in the lies of global warming and thinks the entire world needs to come together to solve it.

The only candidate who made any sense, who consistently follows Constitutional Law, who has been bringing to light the crimes of the current administration and both parties, who was marginalized by the media, who's votes they either didn't want to believe or stole from, is RON PAUL. As members of the LDS Church, we of all people, should know the value of our Constitution, and vote accordingly; not to mention, the rest of the populas. THINK FOR YOURSELVES PEOPLE - You'll find it refreshing!
Red State Polling Yawner | 8:59 a.m. May 21, 2008
The poll is relatively correct. Take the following into consideration before you judge my first sentence. Dan Jones is a registered Democrat as well as his wife Senator Pat Jones. However Dan Jones is always a fair pollster. Dan Jones, the Des. News and KSL are not in cahoots. The Des. News handpicked this poll to promote their cause. The editor is a former Utah Republican party chair.

Utah: # 2 Republican State in the nation; with a Republican Majority = can taint the overall sample of respondents answers gathered by Dan Jones. It is really not a surprise, nor newsworthy that in a Republican populated state that 65% of those polled will give a mindless Red answer in support of McCain the presumptive nominee. On any day I can almost hand pick the polls that will tell me what I want to hear so I can promote my message no matter how much my story is a non-issue.

Conclusion: In a # 2 Red state you are going to get a Red answer. Who cares? The real story is how Republicans will get the Romney delegates to manipulate parliamentary moves to swing their faux support behind the presumptive nominee.
Suggestion | 9:00 a.m. May 21, 2008
Go ahead Utah and vote for McDuff, go to his campaign fund raiser and make sure you try to meet the big Reds $70,000 donation request. Work hard in the near future, save your money because they will be back in the fall for more. Also don't pull your heads out of the area where the sun doesn't shine and you will be blessed, time and time again. What ignorance, I can't believe the mind set in this state. Is it any wonder that poligamy is alive and well in this state? The laughing stock of the nation regarding our liqour laws and we wonder why others look at this state like its an isolated island.
cesqy | 9:07 a.m. May 21, 2008
Any state that voted for President Bush in the last two elections, should not be allowed to vote in the next one.
VOR | 9:08 a.m. May 21, 2008
typical Utah - all someone needs is an "R" next to their name and that's who gets voted for. And people wonder why these crazy right wing nut jobs like Chris Buttars hijack the republican party? Pull your head out people, vote for the person, not the party. Republican values = Utah Values? Better re-examine them.
Bombadil | 9:10 a.m. May 21, 2008
Yet another reason Utah has no national voice or significance. Where are all the "I voted for Mitt, I'll never vote for McCain and his mother who made fun of us" Go ahead and vote for a party that stands for corporate america, 5.00$ gasoline, war mongering and the patriot act. I am not a liberal, but I do have a brain. McCain knows he can roll in here once, pick up a truckload of campaign cash and immediately forget about Utah for the rest of the campaign, knowing he has it safely tucked in his pocket. Look at your current situation and realize this is what 8 years of Bush got you.
WHAT????? | 9:13 a.m. May 21, 2008
UTAHNS VOTE REPUBLICAN??? THIS SHOULD BE FRONT PAGE NEWS!! OH WAIT! IT IS!

Must be a sloooooooow news day.
Baa Baa Black Sheep | 9:12 a.m. May 21, 2008
I for one, will not vote for McCain. I'm holding my nose and voting for Clinton (on the slim chance that she gets the nomination). Otherwise, I will not vote at all. Why bother? The Republican Party is now just as bad as the Democratic Party. They are only in it for themselves and the sheeple of Utah are only fooling themselves if they think otherwise.
still not interested | 9:14 a.m. May 21, 2008
McCain is not my guy. I might vote for a dem with hopes that the dems take the hit. Then vote GOP in 4 years. Who ever wins of the 3 canidates is a win for the dems regardless.
dig deeper | 9:20 a.m. May 21, 2008
My family's support of McCain has a catch. If he picks Hucklabee as his running mate, I'm jumping ship and hope the country has a life raft.
a prediction | 9:24 a.m. May 21, 2008
The modern American conservative movement likes to set itself apart primarily as moralizers. They won't hesitate telling you how one should live their life.

You can see why so many Utahns attach to this philosophy.

Interesting thing is, John McCain leans further left than Utahns want to admit and this jumbles up their entire mindset.

Prediction: The 46-year old black guy named Barak Obama by a landslide.
Least Important Issues | 9:27 a.m. May 21, 2008
Gay marriage and abortion?
Unless you're a human about to be ground up by an abortiionist or a child about to be adopted out to homosexuals or an insecure teen being pressured to out yourself or a local government about to be bancrupted by sham domestic partner health costs or trying to raise a family in a society with increasingly base and perverted morals.
Steve | 9:27 a.m. May 21, 2008
It's good to see that Utah won't be in the battleground column. I trust that the GOP will manage to finally defeat Matheson, too. But I'm glad to hear this.
what is Iran REALLY thinking? | 9:32 a.m. May 21, 2008
Yeah!
Inquiring minds want to know!

They say they want to kill all Jews and Americans but what do they REALLY think? (I hate to see what they're holding back)
anti-war,pro-agency | 9:35 a.m. May 21, 2008
Why are Utahns so concerned about abortion? I wouldn't suppose most Utahns are having abortions. On the other hand, why are Utahns only adamant about protecting life in the womb while praising a president who doesn't give a flip about allowing all our sons and daughters to die on the battle field? Is life in the womb more valuable than an individual's life here in mortality? How can you support an unjust war and think only of abortion?

Seems to me there is a disconnect somewhere!
master debater | 9:39 a.m. May 21, 2008
Mcain would spell trouble for this country. He is just another Washington creature following in the footsteps of Bush.
2 way tie | 9:43 a.m. May 21, 2008
either way you go its a little of the same mixed into a new face. Unless you are a Ron Paul supporter. The only man in the race with solid ethics and morals
Not McCain ! | 9:43 a.m. May 21, 2008
I am a Republican and have never voted for the Dem's ...until this election. There is no way that I want 4 more years of the same ole same ole. A vote for McCain is like voting to give George Bush 4 more years. Haven't we had enough of ...IRAQ, sluggish economy, environmental ignorance and neglect, out sourcing jobs, stalemate on social security, etc....??? For pete sake Utah, take a look at the candidate instead of always having to vote a strict Republican party line! What is McCain's plan to pull us out of the recession? What about Iraq? What about the oil crisis? I know what Obama's plan is and I have to agree with most of what he proposes but I have listened to McCain and all I hear is the same ole stubborn rhetoric that Bush has stuck to for the past 4 years. If there has ever been a time for a CHANGE OF DIRECTION and a FRESH START it is THIS election.
Anonymous | 9:47 a.m. May 21, 2008

Vote for Ron Paul.

That's a good one.
