Miller could tear down the entire team and build it anew around Williams and the
Jazz would be successful. He is the one player who we need to spend his career
here. I really like Ak's intangibles but I think we can get so much more
value by trading him for an expiring contract and getting a big, tough center to
compliment what we already have. Maybe Fez will be that guy but right now we are
very weak inside defensively with Memo and Booz. Love their offense but they
cannot stop anyone. AK's value is much higher right now than it was at this
time last season. It's time to pull the trigger on that one.

I like Williams, so much that part of me hopes he goes to larger franchise where
he can get the recognition and experience (rings) he deserves. With the Jazz
he'll always be an afterthought to the other superstars around the league.

Paul Millsap brings more to the table than Boozer. Sure Boozer can score, but so
can a lot of other people on this team. Paul brings energy and toughness to the
defensive end, something that many of the jazz players (Boozer) sorely lack.
Plus I don't know if you have noticed, Millsap is not afraid of contact on
the offensive end of the floor like Boozer is.
If i were GM i'd be trading Boozer and getting a defensive center for a big man. Okur and Boozer are both good players, but two big man who can only score and not play defense aren't going to get it done in this league. Boozer made Odom look like the All-star not the other way around.
Oh and if Deron Williams leaves, we have no chance. Dwill is the leader and the one who wants it the most. No guts, no glory. Boozer hasn't got any guts.

If it wasn't for Williams the Jazz wouldn't have made it as far as
they did in the playoffs. He put the entire team on his back at times when Booz
and some of the others seemed to disappear. Chris Paul is awesome, but I think
the Jazz picked the guy that would work best for this team. There are few
players that impress me with their play, and DWill is one of them.

I agree with I-Love D Will. Where we get killed is the lack of defense from our
big men. Memot just stood there watching Pau Gasol rip down rebound after
rebound for 1-2 foot shots. He single handedly gave them game 5 in the last few
minutes.

First of all the Cavs would never trade James. Second James would never want to
play for a small market team like Utah, even if the idea was getting tossed
around LeBron would let Utah how he would leave when he's up for free
agency in a season or two.

We've already got the nucleus of a championship team! I admit that I was
not a big fan of A.K. last year. He's the one who pretty much disappeared
in the playoffs. And yet, this year, A.K. was SOLID in his role: rebound, block
shots, score a reliable 10-12 pts a game. He's so quick and he's got
those looong arms. I never realized how many blocks he was racking up until I
paid attention to it during the season. So, sure, we need another star player
to make us more solid, but "rebuild" around Williams?...I'd think
you're nuts.
Oh, and one more thing....I'd gladly NEVER win a championship (and I want one, even several, reeeeally bad) IF it meant bringing someone in to the Jazz who has low class and lower morals. That's one thing I like about Larry Miller AND Jerry Sloan. With those guys, character DOES count. It may be old school but it means more than a ring on somebody else's finger while you chant "we're number one".

Trade Kirilenko ASAP. He makes $15+ million in 2008/09, $16+ in 2009/10, and
then $17+ in 2010/11. He's not worth anywhere near that money, and
he'll never have any more value than he does right now. AK is better off
playing the 4, and he'll never do that in Utah with Millsap and Boozer
here.
If the Knicks don't get a top 5 pick in the lottery, I say that we trade AK, Hart, Collins and our 1st rounder for Marbury and the Knicks' 1st rounder. Waive Marbury and then draft Kevin Love. AK would be a stud in D'Antoni's offense. Love will be a force in the middle and be able to shoot from the outside.

Millsap should be the future for the Jazz at the 4. He brings some toughness and
defense as other posters mentioned. I would not be disappointed at all to see
Boozer traded, because he has NO defense. Even Memo plays some D in playoffs,
but Boozer doesn't. Also I'd like to see Harpring's minutes cut
and more time for Miles, Harp may be tough, but he's about three steps too
slow now.

There's no question as to who's the best player in this team. The Jazz

I don't think I've seen a meaner cross-over than from D-Will. The

I really like AK's game. But he is costing us way too much. His value is as
high now as it's been since his all-star years. We need to somehow package

All the Jazz need is a fundamentally sound true center. All of the recent
championship teams have had one (although Detroit's Wallace was mainly
defense). The Jazz need a Tim Duncan type that can dominate the paint. Kevin
Love would be perfect in Sloans offense. And he could outlet to D-will for game

same trend.
You cannot just look at the overall stats of the season when comparing the two. They are on different teams and in different systems. Had the Jazz taken CP3, there is a good possibility that DWill would be the one with the better numbers.
Lastly, at the end of the game I would rather have DWill shooting the final shot than CP3. The extra 3 inches make a huge difference when trying to get off a shot and DWill is a better shooter (his percentage has been here each year--the only reason Paul averages more points is because he shoots more).

What would it take to trade for Dwight Howard? Think how awesome the Jazz would
be with Howard instead of Boozer or Okur.

A max contract for Williams would also be a great burden off of AK's
shoulders. With Williams being the Jazz's max money player, AK
doesn't have to deal with the pressure that this label brings, and he can
just play basketball. AK has shown that he plays better when the pressure is
not on.
On the other hand, Williams thrives on playing under pressure, and a max money contract, combined with his second-team all-NBA accomplishment (despite, ironically, not being named to the Western Conference all-star team), will solidify his position as the leader of this team. Sign him up for as long as he wants to play--the biggest no-brainer in the history of earth.

season. I'd keep him on the squad unless you can get a screaming deal for
someone else.

I don't think the Jazz are badly in need of restructuring. A little more
consistency in defensive decision-making, and a few better shots on offense, and
we would've taken Games 5 and 6 against the Lakers. Considering how young
this team is, and how close they are to being championship material, it seems
pretty reasonable to hold onto our collective horses for another year or two
while this group of players reaches their potential as a unit.

D-Will is a rock, i agree that statistically he has shut Chris Paul down almost
every time he has faced him, and if they had the chance to meet each other in
the playoffs i have no doubt that he would have done the same again! Trade

We could wait it out and see how this same team does next year, but AK will be
even harder to trade next year than he will be next year because he makes a
whopping $16.5 for 2009/2010 which just happens to be the same year that
Deron's max contract will start at about $15 million AND Millsap will have
to be re-signed.
It is impossible that the Jazz keep the current roster, sign Deron and Millsap AND stay under the luxury tax for 2009/2010. IMPOSSIBLE. The only way would be to trade someone now or after next season or we lose Millsap or Deron to free agency.

$5-$7 million range that would make the trade work.
One trade option could be to trade Hart, Collins and our 2nd round pick to the Nets for Trenton Hassell. He is a great perimeter defender and this trade would allow us to open up one more roster spot. Unfortunately, he would add to the cap for 2009/2010.
Or Utah could trade AK, Hart and Collins to the Cavs for Wally and Damon Jones. That would open up a ton of cap after next season.

Well, I would definately like to mention that we are so bloody young. We really
are. I really thought we had the chance this year, but our lack of experience
and confidence gave up some games down the stretch. Now, here is my problem. AK
is great for a trade, but for who? There is no real realistic trade we can get
for a SF that would benefit us. Second, I love Booz to death, though I know if
Millsap doesn't get a starting position with us soon, he will get it
somewhere else. So My thought is to trade AK, Hart, and Collins for a decent big
man now. Even if he is old. Then you Bring Millsap to the SF on Defense. Then on
offense have Millsap run the PF, Booz at C with his left hook, and Okur (Money
Man) running the other wing. Defense will increase, really to have one more beef
man to congest things, and offense will soar even more. But that is just me.
