The Jazz should have won this game!! The 4th quarter was so frustrating to
watch, especially Boozer missing easy shots under the basket. But no one has
talked about the fact there were 8 Lakers on the court in the 4th quarter. The
3 striped jerseys missed 2 offensive fouls on the Lakers that led to points as
well as the 3 or 4 phantom calls against the Jazz that led to LA 3 point plays.
All the time that the Jazz were mugged at the other end with no calls. I
don't usually complain about officiating that was pretty good through 3
quarters, but the Lakers would have lost this game if the refs hadn't have
pulled it out for them.

Lakers controlled game 5 and won that is the bottom line Jazzies. Stop crying
like school girls about officiating. You are so old and tired - go back and

The officials definately effected the outcome of game 5. How could they ignore
Gasol doing a 2 handed push-off on his defender to get those 2 offensive
rebounds, and how could Doug Collins not cry foul on TV! That was outrageous.
Both rebounds led to points rather than Okur shooting foul shots and gave the
game to the Lakers right there. This doesn't even consider the other
phantom fouls that were called in the fourth quarter. The irony of this is that
this was a well called game until the fourth quarter. But suddenly all the
calls swung to the Lakers. I don't mean to be a cynic, but, it looks like
this series has been fixed! There should be an investigation of what's
going on here!!!

I remember the days, people were in a huge stress to join or not to the playoffs
in here. Now, we are in huge stress again but this time to play or not the
western final games and then the NBA final. What a fantastic improvement
we've got. I want to thank to the Jazz to make us a part of this carnival.

I'm just glad to see the jazz highlights on the way to commercials
tonight... I hate watching tnt, they LOVE Koby. Ya he's a good player, MVP
but dang. game 5 when he missed a shot, they would aske, "is that the
back???" give me a break. I had to watch half the fourth quarter with my
tv on mute.

The Jazz need to do a better job of boxing out Gasol and Odom if they want to
win. Those guys are getting way to many easy rebounds and then easy shots/dunks
in transition. The Lakers don't need Kobe to be making all his tough shots
if they're getting easy uncontested dunks from their big men.

Boooooooo-zer plays like a man. He leaves his matador defensive cape at home.
He learns how to play. Or, he admits he is too hurt to contribute to the Jazz
and not the Lakers. Unfortunately, Collins would play better. At least he
isn't afraid to take a charge and knows how to flop. And yes, he will go
after loose balls.
Brewer plays more minutes, especially when he is kicking butt. Pretty boy Korver stays on the bench while CJ substitutes.
DWill continues his warrior play as well as Price.
It's not a hard concept. Although it seems to be for the Jazz.

...the Jazz blew it in the regular season when they didn't show up to play
against Charlotte, Minnesota, New York, LA Clippers, and Miami. Jazz had a
great chance this year to get a #1 seed and Home Court throughout the Western
Conference playoffs. Only now do we see how important those games actually
were. Anyways...I'm still a homer, so I predict Jazz win the next two! GO
JAZZ!!

Instead of watching the game tonight, I am heading off to LHM's other
entertainment venue: miller motorsports park. There will be real world class
professional entertainment (ALMS, go C6R!) untainted by a biased commissioner
and officiating crew. The jazz are done in 7 if not 6.
This team will NEVER win a championship with Jerry. 20 years and nothing. What is one more? He refuses to sit his stars who don't show up and play those who are always ready to show up. While boozer gives us 5 turnovers on his own CJ and the D league MVP polish the pine . . .

Fouls?*!%& What a crock! It's the same all over the league. But
actually, no one is suggesting that all the contact, traveling, and foul mouth
conduct needs to or should be whistled by the officials. The rule is
"unless I (Dick Baveta, et. al)call it a foul, it isn't a foul".
Unless the ordinary fan understands this philosophy, then you will continue to
be befuddled about the NBA game. The home team, or the higher seed/home teams
ALWAYS have the benefit of the doubt. The other basic verity is "officials
always are correct, and the other beholders are in error". Understanding
these universal truths will help observers of the games. The third truth is the
league wants the major NBA markets to be in the FINALS, ie.....Los Angeles,
Chicago, New York, Boston. If it doesn't turn out that way, then the
ratings will not be high enough....as in who wants to watch the Jazz or the
Hornets versus Cleveland? Come on. Never the less, let all of us Jazz faithful
keep our heads up, and hope we hold court and force a seventh game, which could
be a Jazz win, if the Commissioner doesn't make the call to the officials.

The spread from the foul line was more in every game in California than the
margin of points they won by.Its hard to beat seven men with only five
especially if two has a whistle.You cant beat La in La if your in a play off
game unless you are hot from hehind the three point line.they will mug you every

I am glad that national media is talking about how the refs helped the Lakers
win. That was the most frustrating games to watch. Not only were the calls
glaringly unbalanced but the Jazz missed opportunities. Its like they all had
it in their head they could not take the lead let along win. Why does Miles not
get more time. He comes in with energy and on fire. He is instant energy and
instant offense. He is the best shooter on the team and thats what the Jazz
need to stretch the D. Put Korver and CJ on the court with boozer, williams and
Okur and Boozer and Williams will have alll the room they need in the lanes. I
love sloan but he is way to stubborn. He is still mad that miles did not play
in the rocky mountain revue and is still punishing him.

Being relatively uninterested in the Lakers, I don't see many of their games. How long has LA been doing the 'Spotlight-on-the-court-while-everything-else-is-dark' thing? I've never liked the Lakers, but I've got to admit that playing in a darkened arena is an exceptionally good home court trick, especially with transparent backboards.
Players talk about how hard it can be to shoot in an arena that isn't familiar to them, because it feels like the angles are off (I can only assume they are talking about the general layout of the arena throwing them off). I'd imagine nothing but darkness behind the backboards can really throw a shooter off. Congrats to the Lakers for creating a stronger home court advantage. More teams should be so creative.

Every game we get closer to winning in LA. Hopefully we can win at home and
finally break through and win game 7 in LA, like we did last year against
Houston. Am I the only one who want to wipe the smirk off all those ban wagon
celebrities who are showing up in LA again. Jack is the only true celebrity
fan, the rest need to go home and try cheering for a team through thick and
thin. LA fans drive me crazy they are the most irritating fans in the NBA. All
those fans who booed Kobe at the beginning of the season are the same ones
chanting MVP and they say Jazz fans have no class?

serious?! You know, in EVERY NBA game you can find fault with referees.
Non-calls, phantom calls, whatever. You need to deal with it. The Jazz get more
than their share of calls at home and y'all know it....and would you please
stop booing after EVERY SINGLE CALL doesn't go your way. What a bunch of
babies! In a best of 7 series the better team always wins. So enjoy watching the

Don't blame the officials! Jazz players aren't using the bad

The game last night gave New Orleans reason to be crying about the officiating too. It's the playoffs and it's part of "home-cooking".

It is so funny how the officials are now the bad guys and the lakers are the
ones being so physical; I didn't see those complaints when the Jazz won two
close games (one in OT) at home. Homecourt is what it is...when you play
physical don't expect the other team to lay down, like the Lakers did in
games 3 & 4. To say Utah is not physical or the referees just learned how
to blow whistles is nonsense...didn't Utah lead the league in fouls this
year because they embraced being physical? Stop whining like a Spurs fan and
just enjoy the games.

Quit complaining about the officials. Whether or not they make good calls is
irrelevant. Don't put yourself in a position to allow the refs to change
the outcome. Make shots take care of the ball and box out on rebounds. Win the

The Jazz lost game 5 all on their own... but it was promising to see their

the best they've played so far this series in LA.
As for officiating, it goes both ways, it comes out a wash, and really can't be blamed. The jazz need to be good enough to win either way. The only call the baffled me was the Lamar Odom dunk toward the end of the game that was pretty much uncontested but he got a foul shot. I really can't figure out who touched him. But unbiased analysis would probably find a similar call that went the other way.

Why not just make the Jazz play on baskets 11' high and call that
irrelevant. Just give the Lakers a basket 1' lower and tell the Jazz to

Everytime that the Jazz made a move to take the lead they choked. There was this
invisable force shield that stopped them before they could take the lead.
Someone on the Jazz (AK D-Will) needs to take the ball to the rim at this time
in order to get over the hump. Once we take the lead we need to extend it. We
can't be even with them, especially in LA, at the end of the game. If there
is no cusion near the end of the game, they'll get the calls and win....

watching "your" team, I did a little experiment. I paid close
attention to the referees in a few playoff games where I didn't care who
won. After watching, I've decided that the refs actually affect the outcome
of the games more than the players do. Home teams consistently get the calls.
It's subtle, but two or three noncalls can determine the momentum shifts and the outcome of a game. If a player gets mugged on one end with no call, often the other team ends up with a fast break at the other end. That's a four or five point swing, just because the ref wouldn't blow the whistle on an obvious foul by the home team. Two or three such noncalls often determine who wins.
Why have home teams won all but one game in the second round? The refs. No question about it. It takes a monster effort for any five guys to beat the other team's eight.

Why doesn't sloan play C.J. Miles?
We already have plenty of people who can clog up the middle. We only have three sharp shooters from outside and they are Williams, Memo and Korver. By having more people that can shoot outside you open things up for everyone.

Let look at the positives from Game 5:
We had a slow start and were still able to come back.
We got down by 12 in the second quarter and down by 7 at the half, but went into the fourth quarter tied.
Despite all the whistles going LA's way we still kept things close for most of the fourth.
Carlos Boozer didn't show up, Millsap was in foul trouble, we had a lot of turn overs, and our defense was soft, and we were still within striking distance until the last minute of the game.
It is not hard to see that with a few small changes and a little bit of luck the Jazz can win the next two games. But only if they can snap back psycologically and really believe in themselves.

The Lakers will break through and win tonight on the road. I will admit the jazz
did get hosed by the refs in LA (but I did'nt mind it), however they has
their chances to win the game.
