Wilberg is brilliant. His arrangements have breathed new life into a choir that just a few years ago seemed to be going stale. Thanks, Mack!
Kathy Jolley, you are the best! It has been a long time, but Boyd and Liesl still think of you as the best choir teacher and I think of you as one of the greatest assets to music around. Thanks for all you do for the kids and the community in music, drama and education. Fabulous!Wish there were a couple dozen more like you!
A middle school commissioned him? Where are their funds coming from??
Humble and respectful man, seeking permission if the Tabernacle Choir could sing the song, even though he was the one composing it for the school...
I just got done reading the article about the piece that Dr. Wilberg, had compossed for the kids on the Alpine District, Dr. Wilberg, is one of the greatest composers of all time, I really like the arrangements that he picks and he is one of the best conductors that the Choir could ever have Wait ago Dr. Wilberg for a good job that you do with the choir, Keep Up The Good Work
Wonderful story!!
The story probably should have made it clear that the song was not composed by Dr. Wilberg; it's one of his very wonderful arrangements. The song will be familiar to many because it is an old southern folk hymn that was used in the movie "O Brother, Where Art Thou?"
In a dreary world, it is heartwarming to see such an example. Dr. Wilberg remains one of my personal heroes, though he would probably be embarrassed to hear it. I believe that when you change the life of a child, you change the future. I have been blessed by many such kind souls as a child. I'm going to look for opportunities to do more to share my talents.
