worst article you've ever written, blockhead... and that's really saying something. maybe all of these laker fans (who weren't fans two years ago) who are pleased with your article will continue to read your crap online, cause you just lost every bit of what little cred you had in utah. nice job rockhead.

What is the problem with thinking your own team is great and that every other team isn't? What's wrong with hoping the opposing team loses? What's wrong with wanting the superstar of your opposing team to suffer a humiliating defeat? We're not talking about sacred honor here - it's an athletic event and the point is in hoping your team wins at the expense of the other team. I'm tired of all the Utah/Mormon/Jazz/BYU haters complaining about how rude the home team fans are. Well, what were you expecting? A smoke and a pancake?

And what's wrong with hating the shooting guards that knock you out of the Finals and Playoffs every year???

I lost respect for Kobe when he refused to be drafted by anyone but the Lakers!
KOBE! IN THE GREAT 08! | 12:41 p.m. May 16, 2008
that allen iverson sleeve on his arm is actually to prevent from tendinitis buddy. it keeps your muscles warmer to keep them loose. smarty jazz fans.(NOT ME)
KOBE=REG SEASON MVP
KOBE=PLAYOFF MVP
KOBE=CHAMPIONSHIP
KOBE=OLYMPIC GOLD
ITS GOING TO BE A SWEET YEAR JAZZ FANS!
re: Game | 12:53 p.m. May 16, 2008
Korver is good for about 3-4 minutes and then needs to be out of the game. The only chance Jazz have in a game 6 & 7 is if Korver gets in foul trouble. PUT IN C.J. MILES OR PLAY BREWER MORE
Kobe hater. | 1:04 p.m. May 16, 2008
There are two reasons I hate Kobe: 1. he kills the Jazz 2. he is a laker. As much as I can't stand Kobe, he is one of the greatest basketball players ever. He does get star treatment, which drives me nuts, but he is no faker when he gets hurt. I am sick of hearing about the lakers all of the time and nothing about the Jazz, but it is expected in a small market. Jazz will win tonight, but it will be very close again. GO JAZZ!!! Somebody try to slow down Odem and Gasol, they have been the Jazz Achilles Tendon in this series.
foul fan | 1:11 p.m. May 16, 2008
The Lakers are up 6-3 this season over utah, stop complaining about the officiating. The Jazz led the league in fouls this season, it's not going to change in the playoffs, that's their game people , physical , tough , and lots of fouls. live with it. lose with it
Winginit | 1:16 p.m. May 16, 2008
I was at Game 5. the officiating the entire first half was slanted toward the Jazz, so get off of the supposed Gasol foul, but i guess you have to have something to hang on to. there were 4 or 5 calls(the trip of Boozer, please)that were much worse than the Okur plea. 10:30 tonite - your boys will be making vacation plans.... Late
those officials | 1:32 p.m. May 16, 2008
how much are you jazz fans paying those guys? Everyone knows that malone and stockton were great players, but not exacly saints on the basketball court. Malone's elbows were always bumping into things...and stockton was always grabbing, pushing...Harpring is no different - he's just not as good. Jazz players are kind of like bowen...borderline dirty.

And okafur's little acting job at the end of game 5. Please! Gasol is a feather! You guys hack him all game and during the last 30 seconds he's got that much strength to push okafur?

Lakers in 6!!!!
Laker fans, stuck in LA... | 1:52 p.m. May 16, 2008
Okafur plays for the Bobcats, Okur plays for the Jazz. Oh, and watch how many times Gasol fouls Jazz players when they go up for Rebounds. The obvious foul at the end of game 5 isn't the only time that Gasol has hacked a Jazz player and it hasn't been called. Those swats he does make contact every time.
rizzo | 2:27 p.m. May 16, 2008
who cares if kobe isn't genuinely humble. athletes are suppose to illustrate their physical skills.

if you want someone humble, then go meet the pope or santa clause.

get real kids. go kobe. go lakers.
Oh Yeah | 2:38 p.m. May 16, 2008
And about the officiating, the Jazz have gotten away with pushing off all series to get offensive rebounds,so for Jazz fans to criticize the officiating is ridiculous when Carlos Boozer has gotten away with enough fouls through 5 games to foul out in a season.
Give me a break! | 3:14 p.m. May 16, 2008
Jazz players are border line dirty? Ha Ha Ha

Only a Laker has been ejected for dirty play. Technicals in the series are about even. The Jazz have not had a single cheap shot the entire series.

The Jazz are whinners about the officiating?

have you ever seen the Joker Jack after a call on the Lakers. Only Phil Jackson and the Laker players have complained to the media about fouls.

Jazz fans classless?

Didn't the fans at Staples Center boo Kobe at the beginning of the season while still in a Laker uniform. At least Jazz fans waited until Fisher put a laker uniform on to boo him.
How many of you | 3:29 p.m. May 16, 2008
LOSERS would be kissing his but if he was a jazz player. Exactly!! YOu hve euro players who can't score and we have KOBE the MVP of the NBA!! Keep it coming.
Ron | 3:42 p.m. May 16, 2008
GO LAKERS!!!
Kobe | 3:54 p.m. May 16, 2008
Put all of his teammates under the bus last year and early this year....remember he demanded a trade? They were nothing until the gift from Grizzlies.
Sokol | 4:17 p.m. May 16, 2008
What's your point? What kind of lame story is this
on the eve of the Jazz important game? Someone slip
something into your Fruity Pebbles, Rock?
Anonymous | 4:30 p.m. May 16, 2008
You've got to be kidding me. On EVERY missed shot, on either end of the court, some Jazz player is pushing off or running right into the back of a Laker whose already established position.

Try this Jazz fans, when a shot misses, watch Boozer's hands instead of the ball then you'll know what I'm talking about. They hardly ever call it against you and you get all pissy when a no-call doesn't go your way. Typical.
Normborn55 | 4:36 p.m. May 16, 2008
Obviously Tex Winter's mentoring hasn't hurt either. Kobe knows how to respect his coaches unlike many superstar players...Shaq comes to mind.
George | 5:04 p.m. May 16, 2008
Kobe is good. Very good. But not as good as he thinks he is.
Deron, Finals MVP | 5:44 p.m. May 16, 2008
If this series had an MVP, it would be Deron Williams. Say hello to Kobe, the bad guy who'll get shut down by Deron Williams, Finals MVP
parkcity | 6:10 p.m. May 16, 2008
lebron and kobe are both fantastic. but lebron comes across as likeable, and kobe has a smug air about him. when people chant kobe sucks, they aren't saying he isn't good at basketball. we get that he's good. we just don't like him. bottom line.

Buoy I read some of these comments and I must say these jazz fans are indeed hostile. So the columnist proclaimed his love for kobe, but believe it or not some people rahter read about Kobe than the Jazz. What about the Kobe fans in Utah? I SMELL FEAR. The fans are worried, whether they want to admit it or not, that their season may come to an end 2nite. As a result they lash out on Kobe and his fans. Hey guys F.Y.I. lashing out wont help because Kobe and the Lakers will send the Jazz on early vacation, whether 2nite or Monday. The fact remains the Jazz are staying home or going home and there is nothing Deron Williams or Carlos Boozer can do to prevent it. Now its up to the Jazz and their fans to prove me wrong.
Sleepy | 7:15 p.m. May 16, 2008
Jazz fans are funny. Complaining about officials when 2 games were handed to them by the refs. Complain about Kobe getting FTs because he actually gets fouled. The Jazz are widely known as the most physical team in the game, yet you all complain when fouls are called against them. That's a laugher. Accept the team for what it is and embrace it. Live and die by it. But quit complaining about something that's a non-issue. The writer appreciates what Kobe does for the game. Why is that wrong? Take off the rose-colored glasses for just 5 minutes.

Hey Rock, May Kobe take your daughter to the prom!
Kobe is NO All-Star | 11:24 p.m. May 16, 2008
I've never seen a player draw as many fouls as that guy. Call it smart if you want, but I call it a weak excuse to get some extra points. The Lakers have no chance against in the next round. The Spurs or Hornets will dominate them. The Lakers will end their season shortly.
If a tree falls... | 11:26 p.m. May 16, 2008
If Kobe scores 60+ points and his team loses, is he still an All-Star? Just wondering.
Sour Grapes | 12:39 a.m. May 17, 2008
Come on Utah fans. Show some dignity and salute the team that defeated your brutes. I know you have more class than this.
Focus on Article | 1:03 a.m. May 17, 2008
Bravo to Brad Rock for humbling himself and acknowledging something that is extremely unpopular. It seems it takes an incredible amount of willpower for those who despise him to admit even the smallest of noble traits within Kobe. Even after several points of Kobe's virtues that Mr. Rock points out clearly in the article, the majority of commenters continue to insist on belittling Kobe and finding ways to hate him more. To those, I say: way to miss the entire point of the article.

After tonight's incredible finish by the Jazz, the Lakers proved they were simply the better team. Kobe has incredible respect for Jerry Sloan, which sadly too many so-called Jazz fans don't even have. He respects Kirilenko's defense. The same Jazz fans that hate Kobe will at times belittle the fickle play of their Russian star.

My point? Love the game. Root for your team. Cheer against the enemy. But simply appreciate the brilliant play of one of the greatest players ever. Maybe, just maybe, he's not pure evil after all. Then you'll appreciate it more.
Re: Bob | 1:30 a.m. May 17, 2008
The bottom line is it isn't obvious. If you followed the case at all. Do you know what the word extortion means. I didn't think so. You hate Kobe so bad because he wins, you would convict an innocent man if you could. How pathetic.
Rich | 1:34 a.m. May 17, 2008
Kobe is a great player. But do great players need extra help in the form of star treatment from the refs? No. It takes away from their greatness. Does anybody remember that Michael Jordan beat the Jazz fair and square? No, they remember the star treatment, especially THE PUSH. The Bulls probably would have won Game 7 even if he had been called for an offensive foul in that Jazz-eliminating Game 6. Will Kobe be remembered for the great shots he made in Game 6 of the Utah-Lakers series. No. He'll be remembered for being able to run over Jazz defenders with a smile and a wink from the refs. Great players don't need help from the officials. They already have an advantage over the opponents. Let them use it, and if it's not enough to overcome a good team, so be it.
Jazz Fanatic | 1:44 a.m. May 17, 2008
Jazz fans quit whining!! Year after year we complain about what is being done to US rather than focusing on what the Jazz as a team are doing wrong. Its not the refs!! Boozer step up!! D-Will, you're the man, embrace your role as a leader and take over. Kobe is the best player in the world, period. Can't stop him so shut down the others. The Lakers have more talent and are probably favored to win it all, but if any team could steal a series from them its the Jazz. If the Jazz players don't believe this, it will be the same old story, no championship once again. Go Jazz!

Great article...

I am a Jazz fan. Been so all my life and I love the Jazz with a passion raging close to madness.

But you have to give it to Kobe. He is absolutely brilliant. He has heart. And he plays an all round game.

If Boozer had half of Kobe's heart we would be in the WCF.

Yes, Kobe has an ego and he ran some greats out of town. But not many Superstars have been perfect. MJ cheated and gambled. Barkley was violent. Malone has slept with a kid.

And finally, resorting to calling Kobe a rapist is not only cheap but also stupid. Stupid, because you have to ask what kind of girl goes alone to a guy's room at night? Especially a guy who is an NBA player.

We lost fair and square tonight. And lets hope the our front office does a good job in the off season and we come back with a vengeance next year.

GO JAZZ!!

kobe-wan-kenobi | 12:03 p.m. May 17, 2008
of course, not all of jazz fans are like that
some on this forum are objective and not blind
The whining continues | 12:12 p.m. May 17, 2008
The Jazz layed an egg as usual... good thing you got sloan, Dwill, and AK or you would have absolutely no heart...

As for the guy who says the lakers will lose in the WCF... you might be right but at least we have a shot... the Jazz players can watch at home

As for those that say the lakers are only good since gasol got to LA... the lakers were first in the west before bynum got hurt... i mean... you can't even beat us when we have no inside presence... how you gonna do it when he comes back next year...

Goodbye Jazz fans... if i had to look forward to what you do i would be frustrated also

8 wins to the LOT
Criminal | 5:19 p.m. May 17, 2008
I stopped liking Kobe around the time he was raping women while he was married. I just find that wrong. Call me old fashioned.
embarrassed laker fan | 10:12 p.m. May 17, 2008
I live in LA and love the Lakers, but even I have to admit that we caught some nice breaks by way of the refs. Hey, to win it all, you need talent and a little luck! ;)
Respect Great Talent | 1:25 a.m. May 18, 2008
I am NOT a Kobe fan however, I admire and respect his amazing talent on the basketball court.
re:how many of you | 3:33 a.m. May 18, 2008
I would stop watching the jazz if they had Kobe, he wouldnt last under sloan. Dwill has class, kobe's an , well you get the idea. Same difference between him and Jordan. Too bad Kobe is such a punk, he's amazing with a basketball. and to the person who said we should salute the team who defeated us? Its a rivalry and we are fans, come on now. ITs kinda like France saluting the german army in the 40's, aint gonna happen. I'll never respect the lakers, nor salute or cheer for them. I'll gladly root for ankle breaker bowen should the spurs play the lakers.
damian | 11:09 a.m. May 18, 2008
i've watched the lakers since magic and worthy and kobe is my favorite laker. i've always supported him. i'm happy for him now...
Wow! | 10:23 p.m. May 18, 2008
I am amazed by how so many Jazz fans are so ignorant in regards to Kobe Bryant. To the person who said Kobe wouldn't last under Sloan I say: That is a ridiculous statement! Kobe has more heart and is a harder worker than all of the Jazz players put together and you think he wouldn't last?! If anything, Sloan would love Kobe! It is comments like those that prove that a certain group of Jazz fans just don't know the game. They are ridiculous.

He has really changed his approach to the game and has matured. I don't know why some people insist that he is the same person he was when he was 23 years old. He is turning 30 this year. People mature and that's normal. I'm sure you matured from the time you were 23 to when you turned 30. He is famous and the best basketball player in the world right now...but don't forget he is also human. And that means he has the right to mature and change for the better.
