Kim Horiuchi continues to stir the pot without any substance. How does she knows what they have talked about in closed meetings? They were closed!
"As for any decision on the proposed plan submitted by a negotiating team, Haws said they plan to have a written response explaining their stance by the beginning of next week."
How can they prepare and release a written response if they don't discuss it first? The purpose of the Open Meetings Act is to allow the public to hear the reasoning behind decisions, not just the outcome. The public is as important (if not more so) to the process as the committee itself. How is the public to have input if they do not know what governing councils are discussing?
It is also ironic that transition team member Melissa Johnson (who is also a West Jordan city councilwoman) argued so stridently in the beginning to keep both the east and west transition meetings open. Maybe now she would like to do as her West Jordan City Council has done and just remove the microphones.
