Health hotline: Prostate cancer Q&A

I am a 64 year old and had my prostate removed two months ago. With only a 1.6 PSA level, but with a lot of family histories of prostate cancer, I had a biopsy, came back positive at level 3-4. The urologist recommended I have it removed as soon as possible to avoid spreading. Since the surgery, I have had complications -- incontinence (almost back to normal now but still needing to wear a bad, dripping takes place when standing and walking), nerve damage down my left leg possibly the obturator nerve (having EMG) done to determine, erectile dysfunction, little to no energy in afternoon and evening. Some come out unscathed with any complications while others have them So it is difficult for me to recommend either way. I'm just glad the prostate cancer is now out and I don't have to worry about this any more. In my estimation, recovery from radical prostatectomy is long, not as easy a recovery as other surgical procedures.
