Gary Herbert was one of the people Houskeeper attempted to disenfranchise in her last minute attempt to trample the rules in county convention. His willingness to mediate the issue in spite of that maneuver, or to use Houskeeper's own word, shenanigan, says a lot about his class and diplomacy.

The issue here is that the controlling faction of the party may be losing control. Let's hope that Herbert will deal with the issue honestly.

Yes Herbert has class and diplomacy. It is his job to make sure the elections are not messed with.
I wished he could clean up the republican party leaders where there is no class and diplomacy.
I hope there is someone who can let the public know what is going on in the Republican party.
What I see is Housekeeper is trying to do what no one esle will because the fear of retaliation.

Gary Herbert seems like a nice guy, but I view it as he disenfranchised some regular Joe party member from his precinct who would otherwise get to represent the voice of non-insiders. The by-laws are very clear that the automatic delegates are subtracted from the total otherwise available.

No one is worried about a political heavy like Herbert having a voice in state politics or being "disenfranchised." It is the rank-and-file members of the party and the public who don't have a voice when automatic delegates (some who can be "appointed" by Monnahan, the County Chair, in a district they're worried about such as District 60 where Daw got 60% by one vote), lowering the cut-off to 60% rather than 70%, and arbitrary deadlines that are not published so that the precinct delegate choices can be replaced by county party picks.

I don't particularly want Houskeeper to be my state rep., but I absolutely want the insiders to level the playing field.

Well, let's see... Housekeeper tried to run for Utah County Republican Chair and lost. Housekeeper tried to run for Utah House and lost at Convention... there seems to be a pattern here. I am suspicious of the claim that this has nothing to do with being a bad looser... plus it might be part of Housekeeper positioning for the next organizing convention to run for Chair again.

No, who would accuse Linda Housekeeper of being a sore loser? I am sure she would be pushing the same agenda if she had taken the nomination by one vote and thereby avoiding a primary. Or would she?

You forgot she was elected to the Republican central committee. Beside your missing the point.

Well, she needs to run for Utah County Republican Chair again then... the changes come from within the party and being elected through its processes. All she is doing with this is make the Utah County Republican Party look like a joke, something that used to be the honor of the Salt Lake County Republican Party.

Sore Loser, you are probably dead on. She would not be saying anything if she lost by a big margin. Classic, Al Gore inspired tactic, loose by a small margin and you start to go out and degrade the whole process.

Presently, the party is under the control of the BrambleHarts, pure and simple. Housekeeper should be applauded for standing up.

More BrambleHart Control - what a naive statement. You have to be one of the insiders to get anywhere in either major party. If this is bad it is not unique to the Republicans.
