CPS has no bussiness with the toddler.
Shame on Texas once more. It is like they got excited by a 'prank' phone call and now they can't stop taking kids from their parents without loosing face! Shame
CPS is acting abusive and inhumane. Let the little one stay..you are doing MUCH more abuse than what the mental health professionals claim are to be loving and caring mothers that "have a thing or two to teach us about rearing children." Before you think I condone child brides or old perverts I have yet to see "pervasive" teenage pregnancies and marriages outside the legal age and that most husbands are close to their wife's age and a lot are monogomous and have several children. I am so appalled at their behavior. I hope something can be done to remedy this and the abuse of power.
Look what good it did THIS mother to tell CPS the Birthday of her child. On his birthday they will jank him from her arms and toss her out!
Shame on Texas! The posters might get all "High and Proud" to be from Texas and slam Utah and Arizona for not "ACTING", but if THIS is the action of the State of Texas, then Utah and Arizona are to be commended for acting with restraint regards to these people. To work within their framework to gain the trust of people who desire to leave, to help those who might be abused.
I dont understand what CPS is trying to prove by removing a womans child, this whole thing has gotten totally out of control. why hasnt the goverment stepped in and taken control..
CPS is the government. Until it has been verified that it is safe to return the children to their parents, the state has not only the right but the obligation to keep the children away from them.
Its obvious that CPS is being used to destroy this religious group, not for the protection of children. Everyone involved, from the governor on down, ought to go to jail for this.
The lawyer's claiming the initial trial was invalid, since it didn't present evidence specifically implicating this particular family. I would have to agree. This family got no due process, so the Walther's sham hearing was constitutionally invalid. Time to bring in some constitutional lawyers.
Texas is simply following standard procedures set forth in their own guidelines, even very little in this case is standard.
They're doing the best they can in a very difficult situation.
There are no hidden motives, there is no intent to try to destroy a religious group.
Their only intent is to protect the children from a possibly abusive situation.
These loving parents who put on such a pious act still follow unquestioningly the dictates of abusive old men who force girls to be married when they're still children, who force excess boys out of their communities, and who reassign families to new men at a whim.
It's time the FLDS stopped blaming Texas for their problems and started realizing that their problems stem from their misguided loyalty to shameless, dirty old men.
Happy Birthday to you.
Happy Birthday to you.
Say goodbye to your family.
No more good days for you.
Freedom of Religion no longer is valid, when the practices CONDONED by that religion are in direct opposition to established laws. This is exactly the case here. Texas is in the right
When they come after your religion, your children, your "funny lifestyle" ... what then? Maybe we will only get the mis-information from disaffected members. Stand up for your Bill of Rights before it is clear dead!
Talked to a good friend of mine with a lifetime of Law inforcement experience today. He indicated that CPS has broad powers and that law enforcement has to take orders from CPS--without question.
Where are the checks and balances on this unfettered power? This story highlights the danger of unchecked authority. No matter the worthiness of the cause--absolute power corrupts absolutely!!
"Texas is simply following standard procedures set forth in their own guidelines, even very little in this case is standard."
No they're not. The laws governing when the CPS may take children are reasonably explicit, and the CPS's actions in this case have not even been close to being within their own standards.
One standard being that the CPS should make every effort to keep the child with the parent so long as the safety of the child is ensured. In the example of this article, the CPS is not doing this at all, but instead taking the baby from it's mother despite the fact that the baby's safety is ensured in the present living arrangements.
just because they have yet to find any proof that there actually is abuse going on inside this "SECT" doesnt mean that is isnt going on. i think that you need to hear from the childeren especially the teenagers and see what they have to say. mayeb no one is going to say anythign because they are afraid that they are going to get "beat" by their spouse, or father ever think about hat?
