So sad. So very sad. Take your own life if you must or better yet get help; but let everyone else have their opportunity for life. It is precious. Don't be so selfish.

why

stuff like this should not even be published in the paper....so some other loser maybe won't get the same idea.

There is a sad side note to this story. This home was once owned and lived in by Dutch immigrants who, through very hard work and dedication, ran a successful dairy operation with their family for years on this site. They probably did not even know what welfare was. They, along with their children, were very involved and influential in the South Salt Lake community. A son-in-law was the Captain of the South Salt Lake fire department for a number of years. Unfortunately, they are gone, as is the neighborhood they once knew. Hopefully that evolution, capped off by this tragedy, is not an indictment of where we have gone as a society.

To "Why" 12:22pm : Perhaps it is printed to remind us all that we ARE our brother's keeper and should look after one another. Do you check on your neighbors if you don't see them for awhile? Do you go out of your way to fet to know and help others? Sometimes I think we get so caught up in our own lives that we just don't pay attention to what is going on around us. This article served as a wakeup call for ME and I am going to try and do better about looking out for those around me. I hope others will do the same. This is just very sad.

i agree about being our brothers keeper. it's not that i don't have empathy for ALL who lost their lives....but come on.....10 year and 1 year old child.... i feel crime, espesially ones of passion keep getting more and more sensational due to the media coverage and sometimes how it IS covered.....your 15 minutes of fame.

Andrew,

I agree with your comment. It appears as though this probably gives worse ideas for idiots. Especially when there is some sort of mass shooting, and they say "The largest this century..." Then some dumb moron wants to beat that "record."

I feel sorry for the victims (not including the suspected killer/suicide victim) of this crime. Terrible. What is going on in South Salt Lake these days? A certain element of the populace there is dragging this good city into the sewer.

Some people do horrible crimes in order to gain attention. Thus, I think it would be wise for a newspaper to decline to name the perpetrator so that copycat criminals wouldn't be so assured of getting publicity.

How is the person who killed the family trying to get their 15 minutes of fame when they are not living. I don't think it has anything to do with fame. That statement is as bizarre as the crime itself.

nae

to Reader: It is not just South Salt lake it is every where,South Salt lake is still a fine place to live.

No South Salt Lake is not that great anymore. I have lived in this city for many years without a problem, but in the past 6 months I have had a drug house,6 robberies, domestic violence, and our cars broken into. All this has happen on the same street that I have lived on for seven years. But the kicker is that I live in a very nice part of the city.

To Why:

You are wrong. News is information. Knowledge is power. No matter what knowledge we get it is not that we got it but how we use it.

You can never blame someone else for 'putting the idea there' ideas will be found if you walk out your front door, you can only blame the SOLE decision of the shooter in this case.

More importantly, what if someone knew these people and wanted to know what happened? They may never find out otherwise.

Cheers to the Deseret News for being one of the few publishers left without garbage and misleading articles every single day.

May th Lord and his peaceful loving angels be with the family of these 3 beautiful young girls. What are women supposed to do when they are being abused in a relationship? When the family knows there is abuse and constantly is calling the police, I would think that police should check more into it. All those welfare checks peter was probly right behind her threatening to kill her and her family if she said anything, so of course she is going to deny it although he probly beat her after they left , thinking she called them. this is a very sad story and no one knows what its like to be in tracies shoes until they are actually in them. Thats why I think there needs to something else that the police can do when there are multiple complaints from family, friends etc . whether or not the actual victim admits to or not. There definitely needs to have a little more investigation.
