Incredible!!! Go Jazz!!
ArnarG | 4:46 p.m. May 11, 2008
This absolutely enourmously wonderful!
Almost everybody have counted the Jazz off. "They dont stand a chance against the great Lakers, teyll win max one game".

Rubbish!

I truly believe tha Utah will win in six games.
The game today ws a living proof that the NBA wants Lakers - Celtics in the finals.

They got a big held from the officials, whatever the Lakers fan say!

D Will was great, Okur also when mattered, AK with terrific defence, Korver solid and Harpring... love that guy and Millsapp.

With best wishes

GO JAZZ what a game. The Jazz can take it!
Eat it | 4:51 p.m. May 11, 2008
Please, ABC, can we opt out of the announcers who talked incessantly of Kobe and how great LA is? Can we, please?
ArnarG | 4:53 p.m. May 11, 2008
Sorry, they got HELP not held...

The only time the lakers make a run is when the refs start making calls on their behalf.
Dan | 5:06 p.m. May 11, 2008
Do the announcers worship kobe? I don't think he is as great as everyone says.
Jim | 5:16 p.m. May 11, 2008
Missed the game - it was during church. Born and raised in Southern Cal, I am a Laker fan - just so you know my bias. I believe the Lakers are better than the Jazz, but I also thought they were better than Detroit a few years ago and Detroit showed us all who the best team was that year. The Jazz are probably capable of doing the same thing. They usually have good solid teams - they play a nice brand of basketball - they were better than the Bulls both years in the Finals - but caved. Who will cave in THIS series? Jazz or Lakers? We'll find out this week.
TEJA | 5:16 p.m. May 11, 2008
What a great win. OKUR almost caused us the game with that dumb technical foul but he sure made up for it in OT with those 2 baskets and key offensive rebound.

D-WILL is just ridicously good. He is not a superstar in the making, HE IS A SUPERSTAR.

AK-47's defense was superb. He made KOBE PULL A T-MAC in the 4th/OT.

TO all the AK-47 haters, respect his skills. Those 2-3 blocks on KOBE were the best blocks he ever made.

Kobe is the best player in the NBA, and for AK-47 to shut him down at the end, BIG PROPS AK... KEEP YOUR HEAD UP.
Hmm.. | 5:16 p.m. May 11, 2008
Well, Utah is coming back to L.A. Unfortunately, for Utah...you can't bring the refs who are clearly scared of the hicks in that building with you.
Bigjazzfan | 5:18 p.m. May 11, 2008
Jazz in 6?

They can barely beat the lakers at home.

By the way is boozer still back????

LIke I said he makes no difference, and you can't rely on him.

Okur has been the star this second half of the season.

All the jazz have done is hold serve, if they do no more than that they still lose in 7 and still possibly 6.

Bottom line we know they play well at home.
But still they had to outscore the other team to win.

Their lack of defense will get them in the end.

IF it still holds true that you must have first team nba-er (over-all or defense) from last year to win a championship, it will be spurs or lakers taking it all.

By the way NO seems to have the pieces:
Bigmen: west and chandler
Shooters: peja, peterson (he's not a star shooting guard by the numbers so that is a negative) and paul
Point: paul ( 1st team nba 2008)

They could be the team next year or possibly orlando (still need star 2guard).

The jazz are fine for winning 50 games getting some playoff action.

But they need changes to win a championship
TJL | 5:17 p.m. May 11, 2008
Keep giving Kobe star treatment. It's ok. We can take this, he's a choker, I believe we defeated someone like that before this round, what was his name? Oh yea, McBaby. Jazz in 6.
Anonymous | 5:19 p.m. May 11, 2008
the call on ak guarding kobe on the sideline was bogus, as was the t on memo, every foul called on pao results in him approaching an official or brushing one off, way to rise up against the powers that be Jazz, win it in six!
kwt | 5:30 p.m. May 11, 2008
I also missed most of the game due to church. I got home and L Odom just got the putback before the end of regulation. It was nice to see the toughness the Jazz showed in OT period. In some ways I wish we could play game one over again since we only had a day before we had to go to LA. I wonder what condition Kobe is in? One thing about the Jazz is they play tough defense. Just like Jerry S did in his playing days. I hope that the NBA doesnt get on this Boston LA final kick and throw this series LA's way. I hope we can beat them in LA next time so we can close them out in Salt Lake City. Will the guy that got kicked out of the game be able to play in the next game or does that flagrant foul ejection mean he has to sit a game?
PurplePeopleEater | 5:30 p.m. May 11, 2008
The Jazz don't have a chance of winning the next game in L.A. Boozer's no Karl Malone (consistency), Deron keeps forgetting to speed it up (all the time), and Memo's Achilles problem. And, once again, Sloan's disdain for the trey (defending it) cost us an unnecessary overtime.

If you're wondering why I'm dissing my home team, it's because of the lack of consistent effort by certain Jazz players who get plenty of playing time. I'm talking about one starter AND a few bench players. It's the thing Jerry is always harping about: effort. I don't see it consistently from ALL of the Jazz players who get their time on the court.

IF Kobe's back injury makes him less effective in the next game, that could be the equalizer. Then, the Jazz have a 50-50 chance of advancing past the "better" team. However, I doubt it's that serious of an injury. Look how much of a nuisance he was even while in pain.

The Lakers are too deep and have a superstar. Those are the differences that make it impossible for the Jazz to win this series.
The Price is Right! | 5:33 p.m. May 11, 2008
How about Ronny Price giving that pothead Bill Walton's son a lesson on finishing? Pretty embarrassing to get stuffed like a turkey by the smallest guy on the court...and with stitches!
Rob from Iraq | 5:35 p.m. May 11, 2008
I didn't see all of the game just the part that counted. Congrats to the Jazz! Now take that same attitude to LA and get a win. We do not want to wait until game 7 to win one. GO JAZZ
DAKOTA | 5:37 p.m. May 11, 2008
What's up with Phil Jackson? At the press conference he whined about everything. He's already playing to the refs and press for the next game.
Come on Phil, you're from North Dakota, take your loss like a man and get ready for game 5.
happy yet concerned | 5:49 p.m. May 11, 2008
How do we nearly let two games go at home that are in the bag??

What's the deal with Boozer playing so soft? This isn't a toilet paper competition, this is basketball. Take the ball to the rim, elevate, protect the ball.

We have consistently lost the 2nd and 4th quarters the past two games. This is when Korver is playing too long. Sloan needs to use Korver right, not leave him in too long and get Brewer back in slashing, stealing and playing great D.
Phil | 6:11 p.m. May 11, 2008
Jackson at the news conferance stated this will be over in 6 games. He implied that the Lakers are through playing with the JAZZ and will take care of them.

Pretty large boast. Hey DWill and Booze what do you think about that? Your going to be history in two more games.

Time to step up JAZZ!!
re: Hmmmm... | 6:13 p.m. May 11, 2008
Just check the numbers of fouls called on Jazz in LA and Utah over the series. Kobe can't be the MVP w/o refs.

Lakers still got the majority of the calls, I just think D-Will is the best payer on the floor.

I happy that Boller-hack and Boone have a little time to make up more adjectives for Kobe... Must have been a memo.

What a way for Kobe to finish the game, with an airball. Did he dedicate that to Fish?

Is it Ko-be, or Ko-ME...???
12 Pack | 6:19 p.m. May 11, 2008
Hmmm
Dude, if anyone is bringing the refs with them it the Fakers! Look who's shot more free throws in the series. That Tech on Okur was soooo bogus! Oh, and what about Kobe Beef knock AK47 down and getting the calls. It's a joke how biased the refs are for the Fakers.
bo from juneau | 6:40 p.m. May 11, 2008
What a loser! Disappears in the big games, inconsistent. Hi 22.4 percent FGA in the playoffs is in the first three games is the worst of any three game stretch in playoff history, since the 77-78 ABA-NBA merger, You think you know who I am talking about? Lebron James--the savior of basketball as we know it. He says "the win is all that matters, I can't worry about how I am shooting the ball." It was great to see the Jazz win. It does seem to be a team game, doesn't it?
magnus | 6:47 p.m. May 11, 2008
Really happy about this win.

This has been a great series so far, the home team has lead almost start to finish in every game but the visiting team has always fought hard and made it close in the end.

I really hope Kobe isn't seriously hurt, I don't want Lakers fans to have any excuses when the Jazz send them packing.

Home team is going to win games 5 and 6 and then the JAzz are going to win a close one in game 7, stunning the Lakers and causing Stern and his ABC executive buddies to get in a fight about how that wasn't the way it was "supposed" to happen.
Love the Jazz, hate L.A. | 6:54 p.m. May 11, 2008
I love the Jazz, I hate the Lakers. All we hear about is Kobe's bad back, what about D-Will's shooting wrist that just got x-rayed? And Kobe here is a hint, if you have a bad back do not jack up 33 shots. He is over exaggerating the injury as an excuse. How about some credit for the Jazz and not excuses about Kobe's back. Every player plays injured, it is part of the NBA. I love the Jazz and hate the Lakers as equally as I love the Jazz. GO JAZZ!
grumpolman | 6:54 p.m. May 11, 2008
Kudos to the Jazz for beating all eight Lakers on the court. Those 3 refs did everything they could to get the Fakers a win. And I was getting so sick of hearing how Mr. MVP Kobe's back was so painful gimme a break D-Will's been playing seriously hurt the whole playoffs and you don't hear him or the Jazz crying about it. Come on NBA commissioner Stern everyone in America doesn't won't the Lakers to win especially unfairly. Go Jazz and one more cheap flagrant foul by the Lakers and you should take it out on MVP (most visible phony) Kobe.
JazzFaninAZ | 6:53 p.m. May 11, 2008
I salute each yelling Jazz fan in ESA--you won it for us! If you were in ESA and did not yell you were taking up unneccessary space from a yelling rabid Jazz Fan!
Congrats Jazz--a well deserved Win! The Lakers made an excellent push in the 4th quarter and hit some amazing clutch 3s. Yet the Jazz kept their poise to pull it out in OT!
Come Friday, YELL! Make noise the whole time!
Go JAZZ!!!

IT WILL BE OVER IN SIX GAMES..

THE LAKERS will WIN..

THE JAzz is Good but they will lose.
Sllim Brady | 6:58 p.m. May 11, 2008
I believe game one and this game were the worst officiated games I have ever seen. I am surprised the Jazz are able to win with these horrible calls. When Kobe pushed AK and got the foul call I was ticked, worst call of the game. I miss Derek Fisher, those 10 points he got in the fourth were amazing. Kudos for the jazz for pulling out a win. The better team will win this series, lets hope the jazz are the better team.
Mark | 7:00 p.m. May 11, 2008
The refs are bias to the Jazz..
Coby | 7:03 p.m. May 11, 2008
It will be nearly impossible for the jazz to win this series... They're not very good at road..
Im sure the lakers will win game 5..
And Even the jazz win game 6, They cannot win in staples in game 7..

Sorry JAzz Fans. Stop hoping and start crying..

Jerry Sloan proves every day that he is the best coach in the world. Simple and good offence controled by ridiculously good point guard.

Sloan gets every player compete and therefor the team plays great every night. They work hard and do anything to get the Win. Jerry must get a lot of credid for the attitude he has built in the team.

What a game! Great win and now the Jazz can do anything. The players now knw that they have what it takes to win Lakers, and Jazz will win in 6 games - I am sure.

Jerry Sloan deserve to win the NBA title and he will win it this season.

GO JAZZ

PurplePeopleEater: The Lakers are too deep and have a superstar. Those are the differences that make it impossible for the Jazz to win this series.

Really? Why then Jazz outscore them? Lakers are the better team but not by much. Yes Kobe is hands down the best player in the league but DWill basically played him even with what shoot 20 less shots.
grumpolman | 7:19 p.m. May 11, 2008
Kobe pushes off on AK right in front of the Jazz bench AK gets the foul, Kobe tries to run into someone on a drive there's no one to make contact with so he falls and still gets the call, Memo pumps his fist gets a technical Lakers Radmonivich does the same thing in overtime even more dramatically nothing called. Williams and Boozer get ther arms raked on almost every drive no calls Kobe just has to fall down he gets the call almost every time. Mark if you think the refs are biased for the Jazz your off the mark and off your rocker. Go jazz.
Ak Fan | 7:24 p.m. May 11, 2008
Go AK good game. As Kobe just poor excuse, if really hurt back you cannot shoot man it's kind of soccer style. I don't like Pau and Sasha always whinnning and trash talking. Go Jazz Go AK.
You win and still complain about | 7:25 p.m. May 11, 2008
the referees? You have got to be kidding me. Gasol was hacked at least three different times and it was not called. That foul that was called a Flagrant 2 on Turiaf was the biggest load of B.S. I have seen. It was a Flagrant 1, at best. To me, it was just a hard foul.

I don't think half of Jazz "fans" know anything about basketball, judging by some of the stupid stuff you guys are writing.
Kobe's pose | 7:27 p.m. May 11, 2008
Did you notice how Kobe's back wasn't hurting enough to stop him from posing bent over. Just after he hit the shot before halftime, he held a pose sort of ala Heisman Trophy. And you wonder why people call them The Fakers?
russ | 7:32 p.m. May 11, 2008
Thank you Jazz!! Great game, great effort. Go Jazz!!
AS | 7:39 p.m. May 11, 2008
Go Jazz, you are indeed the unselfish team! While I hear stories about the refs being biased towards the Jazz, the Jazz just play the game the way it's supposed to! Shame on the NBA for not putting fair referees and instead putting in referees that are biased towards the Jazz just because they're a "small market" team. The NBA should just put some dignity back in basketball and put fair referees that make calls according to the rules of basketball.

GO JAZZ!!
DB | 7:45 p.m. May 11, 2008
I really want the Jazz to win... not for the Jazz though, but for Sloan! He deserves it! He is the best coach out there! Better than Jackson I wager!

"You win and still complain about"

Thats what I like!

Lakers-whine-club at its best!

Of course you can find few things that maybe didnt go your way. Just look at the bigger picture.
But let me make one thing straight for you:
I did not complain or whine about anything, I just pointed out the obvious. Nothing more, nothing less.

This is nothing new, Kobe is "a holy man" to the eyes of the refs and therefore gets more calls than he should.

It reminds of a great line from a former Laker, Magic Johnson, just before the olympics 1992 in Barcelona. A photograph was being made of him, Bird and Jordan and Johnson said: "I dont want to stand too close to Jordan, because thats a foul". Of course it was a joke, but we laugh at things that are funny and because they are true.

Kobe has the same protection as "not stand too close..."

Greetings from Iceland. And goodnight to you all (the clock here is almost 2 am.
scuba | 7:49 p.m. May 11, 2008
Kobe is acting hurt to try and be compared to Jordan playing sick in the finals. And as far as Jazz fans not knowing anything about b-ball, its just like life buddy, there are idiots mixed in with intellectuals. But at least most Jazz fans arent bandwagon jumpers. Im sure you never saw that many Laker fans at their road playoff games last year.
Scuba | 7:53 p.m. May 11, 2008
By the way, did you listen to Phil in the press conference after the Lakers two wins. And your really going to say the Jazz fans win and still complain. Yeah.....Right....
Zen Master strategy | 7:56 p.m. May 11, 2008
Don't be fooled by the Kobe injury tactics. We have seen it before with Jordan and Jackson. Remember the playoff game where Jordan has the stomach flu and then goes off for 40 something points? Here we are again, same coach, different player. Jackson is a master at the psyche game and we are going to see him play that card at some point. It wouldn't surprize me a bit to hear that Kobe is a game time decision for game 5 but it will only be an attempt to psyche the jazz players into thinking that they might not need to bring their A-game to win that game.

By the way..... did the rest of you see the dirty play of the Lakers at the end of regulation? Plenty of pushing and shoving that was totally unnecessary. I am proud of the Jazz for remaining professional. You have heard it before but my two favorite teams are the Jazz and anyone who beats the Lakers. I hate the Lakers!!!!

Stick it to them Lakers.
Officiating | 8:05 p.m. May 11, 2008
Have you noticed that Sloan and the Jazz players don't complain about the officiating, and if the lose they always give the other team their credit. The ego maniac Phil Jackson, has never to my knowledge given the Jazz an once of credit, rather it be against the Bulls or Lakers. And guess who complains about the officiating, the crowd, the bears motorcycle, and anything else he can thing of. Not much of a man, just a big baby.
Oregon Fan | 8:08 p.m. May 11, 2008
Well people, I did it again. I called it for the Jazz, and the Jazz pulled it off. I started to get worried toward the end, before overtime, but then I thought , when the Jazzplay this well during the whole game, they very seldom loose. inspite of the Refs favoring LA, they all clicked. they played Jerry Sloan BasketBall and got the win. what on earth is wrong with these detractors that are always hammering Sloan? go to the records ye nay sayers, and look at his track record, thats if you can read. this is the year. you go jazz!
John | 8:10 p.m. May 11, 2008
The Jazz are the better team, but the fix is already in, so enjoy the win while you can.

It has to be Kobe in the finals against Boston, or Cleveland. That is where the NBA thinks the money is. Kobe shoots 45%, but jacks up a ton of shots which explains his ppg average. Big deal. Call me when he is hitting 55%-60% That would be impressive. Plus, he is pulling the old "MJ has the flu" bullflop so he can be some kind of god by showing up and helping his team win, supposedly when he is not feeling well at all. Its "as the world turns" and "all my children" blended into one when gorks like him pull junk like that.

No way the Jazz can win a game in LA, not so much because of their road record, but because that would upset the apple cart and no one but Utahns wants to see the Jazz in the finals again, even tho they deserve it.
fossil | 8:12 p.m. May 11, 2008
fisher said both teams are ok by him leaving but thats bull as it cost three players to get him and we got nothing for his lies. he probly will come back to haunt us.
