I'm glad the refs had the courage to make the correct, albeit
controversial, call. We don't need plays from either team that can
potentially lead to injuries.

It was upsetting that the announcers (Hubie and Mike) didn't even note the
reason Turiaf was given the flagrant two! The play was over--there had been a
whistle blown before Price drove to the basket. I mean, maybe Price was asking
for it by driving after the foul was called, but Turiaf messed up. A flagrant
foul was the right call.

It wasn't controversial in any way. The refs blew the whistle atleast 3-5
seconds before the incident happend. Price just kept going after the whistle
and Turiaf had to body slam him to the floor. It was the right call.
But if the whistle hadn't blown and that same play would happen, it would be a flagrant-1 maybe. I would just call it a good hard foul because they were both in the air.
But the bottom line is, it was after the play was stopped.

I've never liked Turiaf. The guy's a thug. You don't have to
look at him two seconds to figure that out. And when you watch him play, and the
hard fouls he gives, there's no doubt. Any time idiots like him get thrown
out it's a good day.

It's going to hurt the Lakers if he has to sit game 5. Their frontcourt
depth isn't that good to begin with.

ABC tried to down play Turiaf's foul, he didn't cause the cut with his
arm, it was the fact that he flipped him on his head. A hard dirty foul, and he
had is hand in the air within a second, he knew it. Its hard to take when Kobe
is so protected, he gets fouls if he falls down by himself. With the new
programs on cable you don't have to wait for replays you can watch them
over and over. Kobe had fouls driving where he wasn't even touched, and
those are three point calls, hes dead on, shooting fouls. Maybe LA feels the
same, but I honestly feel Utah have to beat LA and the refs.

Hey, there were late whistles all game long. I remember thinking 4-5 times,
"that was a late whistle." But it went both ways. A flagrant 2 is
intentional contact to injure a player, and watching Turiaf coming down on Price
with both arms, throwing him to the floor so that he had 4 stitches over his
eyebrow, was definately intentional. I'm sorry to all you whining LA fans,
but this is a good call. I know y'all must want to stick with Phil Jackson
and whine after each game about the reffing, but take the advice of Deron, who
also thought the reffing was tough in game 4, and "not worry about it. You
can't worry about it."

The comment by anaymous above is wrong. The foul was hard, but not
intentionally trying to hurt him. Even Price agreed he wasn't trying to
hurt him. Ronny Turiaf is no thug. I followed his time at Gonzaga and
he's just an enthusiastic guy happy to be playing basketball.
Glad to see the Jazz pull this one out.

yeah, it was a hard foul, but it was his off hand that did the most damage, and
was maybe the reason for the flagrant 2. Maybe the ticky tack tech on memo was
the make up? Either way, it was an unnecessarily hard foul, with more than just
a swat at the ball. Sasha is an idiot as well for getting in price's face
after.

I've watch it many times on DVR and Turiaf put a forearm to the chest of
Price which threw him off balance and to the floor. I will admit I think Turiaf
is a thug and it was the correct call however he should NOT sit out game 5.
Also, the way he looked Price down after is an indication of his intent.

turiaf is a good guy, its not like it was dirk part II or anything, but, the
whistle was blown and it was obvious from every angle he was not in the act. so
it was a good call to give him a flagrant foul but if price didnt hit the floor
hard and come up bloody then turiaf would have still been in the game. phil
jackson is a dork and should be fined for blatently questioning the refs.

"Hard" got it right above. It was Turiafs other arm that caused the
collision so hard to bounce Price to the ground. Turiaf went for the block but
reached a long ways across. I think he was trying to make a basketball
play--not maim him.
Regardless, the outcome is the outcome. The NBA has to have some measure of protection for PG's with the ball going to the hoop to score. If big bodies are allowed to obliterate and bash the PG's into the basketball standard everytime they go to the hoop, the game would deteriorate fast.
I don't think there was alot of malice/intent but he still bounced him way to hard and made no attempt to wrap him up/break his fall when they collided. He was not too disappointed that Price went down.
I am not so sure about suspending him. I have seen alot worse than that. It was not like he grabbed his neck or face so my guess is he will be back on the floor game 5.

Turiaf is a thug?! "you can tell just by looking at him." way to be
stereotypical. if you knew anything about the guy you would know he is no thug
AT ALL. couldnt'e be further from the truth in fact. no way he was trying
to hurt price. they are good friends in fact. price even said himself he
didn't think turiaf had intent to hurt him. and for the person that said
turiaf stared him down after. Are you kidding?! he didn't even look at
price, he just raised his hand, which he does after EVERY foul that is called on
him. some of the comments i've seen about the play are baffling. flagrant
2's are much worse than what turiaf did. and as far as the whistle goes,
there is this thing called continuation. it is smart to try and block a shot
EVEN if you hear a whistle to avoid the 3 point play. price was driving to the
basket HARD like the play was still going on, so maybe turiaf didn't want
the continuation.
