Wow! Those of you who didn't see the 5A state tennis tournament really missed out! While the singles matches were great, we all knew who was going to win 1st singles way before the tournament (or for that matter the season) even started. Congrats to all those boys.

The REAL excitement and competition was found in the doubles semis and finals. The semi-final match between Skyline and Bingham was awesome. Both teams played great and never gave up. The drama continued in the finals. While it looked like Hillcrest was going to take it after the Bingham boys had only about 30 minutes of rest between their semi and final matches, Jeff Peterson and Steven Balls dug deep and pulled out one of the greatest victories I have ever seen in junior tennis. The best thing to watch, though, was the great sportsmanship that both teams displayed in this final. What classy MEN! Congrats Jeff and Steven! You totally deserve the title of STATE CHAMPS!! GO BINGHAM!!

Great job Bingham doubles, you are a class act and fun to watch. A tremendous comeback on your part on Saturday. All of the finals except 3rd singles were competitive and entertaining.

What a great state tennis tournament! Another interesting fact that many people may not realize about the state championship for Bingham doubles is that Bingham has never before won an individual (or team) state championship in tennis in its 99 year history! Quite a feat for Steven Balls and Jeff Peterson! Congratulations - and hopefully many more to come . . .

Congratulations also needs to go to Bingham Coach Dave Davis who is truly an outstanding coach! Year end and out his teams are competitive and their sportsmanship is always top notch.
