I wonder how long it will take The Great Salt Lake Gatekeeper to begin questioning the effect of dumping tons of fluoridation products into the lake each year. Soon we will begin to see the results of "overdosing" on the birds and brine shrimp. A private company would be put out of business if they were to dump anyhere near this quantity of this material into the Great Salt Lake, or into any other stream for that matter.
Kelation? | 1:37 a.m. May 10, 2008
Heavy metals can be gotten out of the body by kelation. Can't the mercury in the lake be put into a harmless form using the same method?

We know we have a life threatening problem here. Do we continue to spew mercury out of power plant smoke stacks, mining operations?

Step it up state air quality people and environmental health regulators. Step it up, even though the industrial lobbyists are telling you "everything is okay".

Don't believe it.
Just more lies from the liberal drive-by media and Al Gore.

Read the article carefully! "Studies of the birds 'during that period' have found an increase in mecury found in their livers 3X higher than "at other times of the year." Suggested translation mecury accumulates and is then excreted as the birds diets change. Pretty much the way the digestive system is supposed to work. We are being forced to use light bulbs with mercury in them. This problem will get worse, everywhere.
How many people do you know that dispose of, .. say
batteries or light bulbs properly.

The highest mercury pollutor is on the west side of the lake. Funny, most weather comes from the west, hence, the Great Salt Lake and the Wasatch Front get contaminated. You know they have plenty of polititians in their back pockets. Until you idiot republicans start voting out the incumbants, this will continue. Dems are no better and also should be voted out.

Ever think why Utah has one of the highest rates of autism in children? Could it be mercury contamination? Once mercury enters the food chain, it is there to stay. You eat a contaminated fish, you are contaminated. You might as well be eating a spoonful of mercury by letting these corporations continue to poison the environment. Big corporations are running the country and this government. Big corporations will poison you and not think twice about it. Use your vote for change, not same ol' same ol' I'm voting for the elephant.

Mankind is just another species.
All species go instinct sooner or later.
Mankind had his chance and is on his way out.

And when this finally happens, Mother Earth will thrive once again.

As Surprised? points out, Utah does have one of the highest rates of autism. Several studies have shown a link between increased rates of autism and mercury pollution from power plants. Could there be a link here? It's time to care about the environment in Utah because it impacts our health and our lives.

The "fast tracked" coal plants are largely to blame for Mercury contamination of our waters and soil. This country's politicians have been bought and paid for by the military/industrial complex (just as Ike warned)for decades which is why Global Warming, alternate fuels and pollution is ignored beyond paying them lip service. We will foul our own nest, cause cancers in our children, start wars of choice and risk destroying the Earth itself all for the sake of lining greedy men's pockets with blood money.Short of overthrowing governments and international corporations there is not a thing we can do but watch.
