From a Emery county boy. I think it is a good thing. It will be nice to have every other year off. And I belieave it will create more anticipation.

The church love's one of Martin Harris's post dissention comments, but most of the other comments from Harris are not flattering, including how the plates were not viewed in a literal since. Let's face it, the church would rather have MH fade into obscurity like many of the other earlier leaders that left the church.

I was real sorry not to be able to attend the pageant this year. I am a single woman living on a fixed income and can't do much traveling. Clarkston, Utah is not far from where I live and I always looked forward to attending the one thing I could afford.

From A Martin Harris Descendant | 8:51 p.m. May 9, 2008
As much as I will miss the pageant, it is great to "take turns" and allow each pageant to have its year in the spotlight! We went to the Clarkston pageant last year, so this year we should take advantage of the opportunity to see the Castle Valley production!

This change has nothing to do with Martin Harris or his testimony. That testimony still stands strong and true! According to the LDS Guide to the Scriptures, "Martin Harris was excommunicated from the Church but later returned to full membership. To the end of his life he bore witness that he saw the angel Moroni and the gold plates from which Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon."

Even those who left the church are still remembered as we read the Doctrine and Covenants -- their names have not been erased from history -- they just don't come up as often because they left or were excommunicated from the Church, and thus were not part of later history.
Cancel it | 5:57 a.m. July 2, 2008
I think this pageant is an embarrassment to the LDS Church. I remember attending as a youth and realizing what a poor a production it was at that age. If anything they should cancel the pageant altogether. It angers me that people are upset because they will suffer economically with the cutback. People making money off the church... correct me if I'm mistaken but isn't that priestcraft? Cancel it, cancel it for good. The Manti pageant could go also in my opinion.

Cemeteries are not appropriate places for pagentry. They should be reserved for quiet remembrances of our dead, and for contemplation.
