Provo now gets the benefit of private builders. Hooray for the Provo residents. Now if UTOPIA would privatize and quit gambling on tax dollars.

Two points to connect together: Broadweave wants to be the sole provider and if Broadweave fails, Provo gets the network back. I can easily see Provo suddenly getting the network back in 2 years and scrambling to figure out how to manage a subscriber base to whom it can't legally provide service.

Connecting dots: And that's why I call it HomeNet Part 2.

It also doesn't matter who's backing the project. Some well-respected venture capitalists also backed Netscape, Pets.com, and thousands of other businesses that went under during the tech boom of the 90s. Just because you have backing doesn't mean you have longevity.

Why does our city government always give the the feeling they are sleezy, self serving, and stupid?

The mayor tells us a couple of weeks ago the we were nowhere near selling IProvo.

Then we hear that Broadweaver is a tiny unproven company for which we are the venture capital.

Today we are borrowing money to loan to ourselves.

This reminds me of when they were tearing down that motel on Center Street without buying the motel from its owners. What the heck is that?

Its like that law--you can't have a refrigerator in you basement because you will surely move some hideous persons into your house. This city is so in to unrighteous dominion.

Why are we hiring/electing such people? I'm sick of them.

Do these people run their own families as poorly as they run our city?

Do they spend their own money as frivolously as they spend ours?

Do they frivolously steal the agency of their friends and family members?

Its time to clean house down there at the city and city council.

Here are some FACTS | 3:32 p.m. May 10, 2008
Mayor, Here are some facts perhaps YOU should know.

FACT: In 8 years of operation, Broadweave has acquired only 1100 customers across two small projects.

FACT: Because of exclusive deals within their projects, Broadweave has never been in a position to have to compete against other providers, including the incumbents.

FACT: Because of exclusive deals, Braodweave has no marketing experience and no experience in retail sales, let alone retail sales in a competitive telecom environment.

FACT: Broadweave has no experience providing business-class services.

FACT: Broadweave has no meaningful experience provding TV service. Residents of Traverse Mountain, where the majority of their customer base resides, have been waiting 5+ years for Broadweave to provide TV service. Broadweave is just now building their first IPTV head-end in southern Utah.

FACT: Broadweave has a track record of poor customer service and broken promises in their projects. Residents in Traverse Mountain have, on multiple occassions, threatened suit because Broadweave was unable to provide basic telecom services, including primary telephone lines for months and in some cases, years after the residents moved in.

My bet is we'll see the boomerang return after a couple of years, but only after it has been destroyed by Broadweave.

After completely driving iProvo into the Ground Garlick gets rewarded by Billings and sent back with applause to head up the energy department. Imagine what he will do with that. Only in the crazy world of government do you get rewarded for completely destroying a great idea. In the real business world he would have and should have been sent packing! Not in provo.

Didn'y Fraser Bullock back the Airswitch fiasco in American Fork the citizens there are still paying for?
