It's hard to believe people are still suffering from Bush derangement syndrome three years after leaving office. Obama has been in charge for over three years and Bush is a fond memory.

Ha, their logic escapes them.

So, by your logic, Bill Clinton, Jimmy Carter, Lindon Johnson and John F Kennedy were failed presidents as well because democrats don't bring them up in current presidential conversation or comparisons?
Have you ever thought that George Bush is not running for president and so the discussion is centered around those who are?
Mr. Obama would do well to run on his own track record rather than that of Mr. Bush since Mr. Bush is not running for president nor has Mr. Bush been president for the past 3+ years.
Come on, get real here.

Ever since Reagan the country has been enacting conservative principles. We have seen the steep decline of unions, tax rates on capital gains and high incomes have been slashed, corporations have never been more powerful and influential, the military budget has doubled in the last ten years, and deregulation of the financial industry has increased dramatically.
George W. Bush accelerated all of these trends, can any rational person look at the country and say that we are in better shape than we were in 2002?

Look at what a successful president, Bill Clinton did. Look at the economy and shape our nation was in when he left it to George Bush. Then look at the disaster George Bush left Obama. President Obama is doing a great job, all by himself. He gets No support or cooperation from the greedy ol party. (GOP). They pledged long ago to disrupt, obstruct, and not cooperate. Now Mike Lee has pledged to oppose all nominations. This is not how government should work. Lets send ALL GOP people home . They do not want to govern, or try to fix Bush's mess. Lets send them all home, and Obama, and the democrats will clean it up. Just like Clinton cleaned up the Reagan Bush 1 mess.

None of the presidents are perfect even Reagan did stuff I don't agree with. They are doing htere best Bush did some good things too. Hard to do everything without consent of congress.

This letter makes so much sense. The Republicans (as seen in the comments thus far) will have a knee-jerk reaction, but the letter is fundamentally correct. On November 9, 2008, just after the Presidential election, Joseph Stiglitz wrote a piece in the Washington Post listing the challenges of the new President as a result of the actions of the Bush Administration. It is stunning how accurate that article was, how bad things were and then handed to President-elect Obama. As I review the things Stiglitz mentions, I am amazed at how well President Obama has done, even as the Republicans swore they would do everything in their power to ensure his failure. So they leave a mess, and then don't want it cleaned up. Who do they serve? Not the American people, that's for sure.

'Bush derangement syndrome'?

Let's LOOK at the Bush 'legacy.'

Where, are the jobs?

Jobs.

Jobs!

Roland asked a fair question.

In order to answer it properly, we need to know WHICH policies were distinctly policies of George W. Bush. After we have that answer, we can compare those policies with policies that are distinctly those of Barack H. Obama. Comparing those distinct policies will tell us all we need to know about the methods those two men chose to use to "get the job done".

If we don't learn why policies failed, we will repeat the mistakes. If we learn why policies worked, we will repeat the success.

How about the ones George W. Bush signed...

with a Republican majoirty support in the House and Senate, from 2001-2006?

TSA,
Patriot Act,
No child Left behind,
TARP
Iraq
Afghaistan
Gitmo....etc, etc.

Okay Pagan, which of those policies you listed did President Obama eliminate? If President Obama did not eliminate them, then those policies are not distinctly policies of George W. Bush.

:)

Once again, it's not that Bush WASN'T a bad president...

it's that Obama has cleaned up his mess 'fast enough.'

1) This is off the topic.

2) It is a sign of resignation, that Bush was a bad President because...

we need to talk about Obama now.

FYI, to answer your question:

Iraq.
Osama Bin Laden.
Libya, with zero troops!

And if you want Obama to do MORE...maybe you should tell the Republican party to SUPPORT Obama in repealing those...

failed Bush policies.

Mike Richards, there is an easy source for many answers to your question about Presidential policies.

Google "Policy Differences Under Two Presidents" to find the answer.

It certainly is interesting to see how the repubs blame their lack of popularity on the "liberal media" and "religious intolerance." In reality, WHAT ARE THEY DOING to win over the American public?

Their policies aren't any different than Bush. That's the real issue. Americans still haven't forgotten Bush and his policies. The GOP has never admitted anything he did wrong nor do they offer anything different. The same old mantra, less regulation, more tax cuts, etc.

As the saying goes... Fool me once? Shame on you.... Fool me twice? uhhhhh....

No one likes to be reminded that they made a mistake. It is like rubbing salt on a wound. Many people take offense when one reminds them of their past questionable actions. They would prefer it not be mentioned and when it is they respond "Oh that is old news."

Please correct me if I am wrong but was not Bush/Cheney in their last reelection cycle elected with the highest percentage approval rating of the nation in Utah?

As Sean Hannity would say "Dick Cheney that Great American" was given an honorary doctorate from BYU and those who protested about his views on torture were looked down upon.

It is best not to remind them of something that they would prefer to forget. It just raises their blood pressure.

Roland, Roland, Roland!

Conservatives think Bush's fiscal and education policies were a failure -- that's a main root of the Tea Party movement. That means they think Democrat ideas are an even bigger failure. In all your letters, you've never been able to offer a shred of evidence or logic that disproves that.

Cutting taxes puts more money into the economy. Cutting government down to meet its income puts more money into the economy. Those are clear-cut, simple facts not even a liberal can deny.

But you've...

'..you've never been able to offer a shred of evidence or logic that (me:) supports' that.'

How can the goverment pay down it's debt...

if we are cutting taxes?

How have the bush tax cuts...created jobs? We initially passed the Bush tax cuts..in 2001.

Today, unemployment is over 8%.

How can conservatives claim to want to cut goverment...

Just Fox News talking points.

To Thinkin Man: When Bush left office, he had an 88% percent approval rating among people who described themselves as "strong conservatives". The people now saying that conservatives never much liked Bush are engaging in revisionist history.

I'm constantly arguing that government revenues should match expenditures, but there is no economist or budget analyst who thinks that it can be done by spending cuts alone. We need tax increases and spending cuts.
