'ROME Bishops must follow the Catholic church's laws and standards when dealing with priests who sexually abuse children or face possible church sanctions for negligence...' - article

Ohh!

Sanctions!

I'd be fine with...

prison time.

You know.

Punishment.

I see nothing when the offender makes confession to a Priest or Bishop, are they still going to hide behind the rules of confession, and why is it the Catholic Church is the only religion protected by Confession?

Hurry now, run to the Confession Booth, and tell another Priest or Bishop that your a member of NAMBLA, and in the name of your protected religion in the Catholic Church, see what they'll really do to you, perhaps say 20 "Hail Mary's"?. That's about all.

How about for real punishment a whole bunch of real prison time instead?.

While I agree with your sentiment, the Catholic church, is not the only example...

And this is also not to TARGET specific religions.

I can find MANY examples of people who put their trust in religious leaders, only to have to report sex abuse to their children.

It is not specific, to any ONE religion.

As such, any advocats of lieniency or forgiveness are null and void in my opinion.

They should be PERSECUTED, to the full extend of the law, for such a betrayl of trust.
