All you have to do is look at the box score and the +- of Utah's bench. The starters should have probably done better but you can't have your bench do that poorly and hope to win, pretty bad. Hopefully they erase this thing and play hard tomorrow.
Miles and Harris need to be offered in a trade package if anyone is dumb enough to take them. Both are killing the Jazz. The love affair with Miles has got to go. Speaking of going Harpring's hair is the most pathetic thing I've ever seen. We need a 2 guard that can score. The Jimmer would have been perfect for the role.
The Utah Starmakers: Providing career games to obscure players for the past three decades.
No excuse for the loss, but I find it very interesting that every team Carmelo Anthony has been on plays more efficiently and just seems happier when he isn't playing. That's not a good thing for him, especially when the league is built around "superstars." Good for the knicks. It's a big win for them and they looked like they were playing some good team ball. Utah looked like they were pressing. Young team, Utah will get better with some time.
Another game with poor perimeter defense/offense.
They should be embarassed that NY's scrubs beat them.
Perhaps the Laker game was an anomaly.
It is sad when you have to rely on your backup guard to ignite the offense.
And when he has an off night . . .
The road games are going to kill this team's playoff chances unless something is done.
@ John Wicks
Enough of the Jimmer talk.... Insanity would have been taking him over Kanter. Kanter has shut down LaMarcus Aldridge and Andrew Bynum in helping swing the momentum in those games. I wish Jimmer well, but all your credibility is gone if you think we should have taken him at 3rd. Enough already.
@ Jaggie
Could not agree more. I think Carmelo is the most over rated player in the game. He is a cancer to his team, he plays awful defense, he does not impact the game unless he is scoring, and he shoots the ball 25 times to get his 20 plus points.
The chemistry of this team is not what it should be. There are players getting minutes on nights when they stink up the joint and others like Burks and Evans who never leave the pine, why? I think with the trade deadline coming up this month we should explore a different direction at a few positions, and that would to offer up these following players as trade bait and discussion.
Raja Bell-3.2mi
Devin Harris-9.3mil
Al Jefferson-14mil
Jeremy Evans-3/4mil(only because he apparently will get no chance here)
C.J. Miles-3.7mil
for a combination off
Shannon Brown 6'4" SG (unrestricted FA this year
Rodrique Beaubois 6'0" PG (trade for Miles)
Marco Belinelli 6'5" SG or SM Free Agent this year
Chris Kaman 7'0" C Free agent this year & on trading block now
This gives us better shooters, energy guys and defense. Do something please management what we have will not work! Something like above would.
Okay so the Jazz got beat by the Knicks practice squad, there are some things that need to be dealt with.
Mentions of trades are all that will come of that. Nobody wants to gice the JAzz anything besides day old bread for a PG who doesn't pass or shoot very well or a Bell who can't figure a way around the key in an NBA game.
The Jazz can only win so many games by defense. I would suggest hiring the Knicks shooting coach. Now the Jazz are the poorest shooting 3 point team in the NBA is there something the team can do?
The other teams fire their coaches when the teams are at the bottom of the heap...because they need to make changes. Just because the Jazz are the worst in the NBA does that mean a change is necessary? Perhaps.
The Jazz field a team of elite athletes, pay them millions and are content to watch them held to 18 points in the first quarter by a glorified high school team in NY. Something needs to be done, if the Jazz could count one 1-2 players who could shoot without having to have 25 minutes to work into their routine it would stop embarassments like that from happening.
Get the coach who can teach the Jazz to shoot. The players and athleticism are there, get the coach.
Dear Mrs. Kevin Oconner,
Your husband won't listen to me, or any other Jazz fan apparently, so could you please point out to him that even back up point guards from Harvard for heck sakes, are ripping apart our team. Please ask your husband to find us a point guard that can play a little defense, or at least give us a little offense that can off set the points scored by ex Harvard point guards. The trade doesn't have to happen today, but by sometime next week would be fine.
Hugs and kisses,
Jazz Nation
Hey Jazz Nation,
Is this another case of the tattoos not working? Hope Tattoo U does not keep follow Tattoo Jazz.
One of the worst efforts I've seen an many a year. Listless, not intensity, could care less attitude. I'm thinking they have no leadership..no one to step in and take chargs, ie..Stockton/malone. they get this kind of effort against a considerable less talented team. Actually turned the channel and watched Castle....was embarrassing. Really poor effort...
All you have to know is this version of the Jazz is not a road team. This game has to go down in Jazz lore as a real clunker. Wow. Done. This has to drive the coaches, management, and owners wacko. How much are we paying these players? No effort or enthusiasm in this one. And on to Indianapolis. The saga continues.
Nice game, Way to Tin and the rest of the Knicks, Hopefully Indy can do the same thing tonight.
This game was so winnable it is just disgusting. Even with Lin and Co. going off for career nights, the Jazz should have won. It came down, in my opinion, to the utter lack of 3 pt shooting by the Jazz. Was it just me, or was it painful to watch Harris and Watson be so uncomfortable shooting the wide (way, way wide open) 3 pt shots that everyone in the building knew weren't going to go in? A backcourt player that can shoot reliably from outside is desperately needed.
The end of February will show the real story. They play 15 games with 9 on the road. So far, they are 0-3 on the road and 1-1 at home with surprisingly the victory over the Lakers. It is quite a shock that Lin would tear up the Jazz and Harris plays "Clark Kent" with the glasses. Favors and Kanter are getting very little quality playing time. I'm betting that the 2nd team in practice could beat the first for the Jazz. Eventually, the "power pups" will take the court with a quality guard and then the Jazz will be shopping for real backups. Millsap continues to impress. The consensus is that Harris, Miles, Jefferson, and Bell are not earning their keep. Favors and Kanter have plenty of rebounds for their short playing time. Just think if they had a guard like D-Will who would get them the ball. Jefferson is part vacuum cleaner and part popcorn machine. He gets the ball and up it goes.
