Looking ahead to the state girls 5A tourney, the upper bracket got the breaks this year. #1 Syracuse has to get by Bingham (ranked 15) and then 5th ranked Alta, or 7th ranked American Fork. The lower bracket had #2 Layton, #3 Taylorsvile, #4 Riverton, #6 Lone peak and #8 Weber. So of the top 8 teams, the lower bracket has 5 of the top 8 teams. Good luck to all.. It's a Syracuse walk off this year, I'd like to see #1 Syracuse vs #2 Layton play for title, Layton oly loses will be to Syracuse, everyone else have lost to others.
Well it's been a long season for the Rich High Lady Rebels to watch the Salt Lake Tribune and Deseret News never have them ranked first even though they are much better than last years state championship team that beat Bryce Valley by 25 or 30 and only lost one starter...ST. Joe was ranked above them last week at Sl Tribune and Rich was up 19-2 after one and 31-5 at half. It's perfect for the Rebels going to state to never have been ranked first all year. Could not be more perfect.
As memory serves me rich did have 2 other players that started all season and only because of matchups did coach Ferguson switch it up but there was alot of leadership and mental toughness lost in those players. this years team is very good. Rich will never get praises untill the rest of the region that we play in gets beter. it does not matter where they are ranked only wher they finnish next week. remember volleyball rankings didnt help the rebels at all.
