Many cannot find jobs. Many do not want jobs. Democrat policies have destroyed much of industry in this nation. Unions have battled to drive out jobs and close plants. They take special satisfaction when they are able to get a plant to shut its doors. Democrats have our country saddled with high capital gain and high corporate taxes. I pray that some day we will understand the errors of such policies and save our nation by eliminating the laws which attack our Constitution and weaken our nation.

It doesn't help these vets that the DOD labels the majority of them with having pre-existing mental issues to disqualify them for medical treatment after discharging them from duty.

For an employer to hire a vet labeled by the military as having mental disorders or PTSD is a tough choice for any employer, he is held accountable for the safety of other employees by hiring mentally challenged soldiers. It would better serve the soldiers fired from the military if the Billion dollar hire a vet fund was given to the Veterans and retraining than to potential employers.

A soldier dumped on to society with no crossover adjustments and training is the very same thing that happened with the Vietnam vets. Denied by the military then forced to enter society with all the mental baggage of a war should have taught our legislators something over the years. Denying vets of their mental struggles after a war has always been there and helped, but now we are denying such conditions and the help they need.

Most vets entered the military as a lifetime choice, now the military fired them with mental disorders makes job hunting difficult and challenging.

One person you can blame and his name starts with a "B"!!!

And if you think the unemployment numbers are dropping, guess again!! I know a lot of folks that have exhausted their savings and unemployment benefits, to which the "BIG" Government has no clue about!!

Yes and there will be many more as Obama downsizes the Military which is typical of Liberals. Obama in all of his phony stimulus plans touts that we need to save the jobs of police, firemen, teachers etc. The Military has no Unions but the police, firemen, teachers etc do. And stimulus to those groups finds its way right back to Obama and the Dems through union dues. As always folllow the money. Obama does nothing that does not find its way back to him!!

Best of luck Airman Conley; thanks for stepping up through your service to our country. I love how the rest of the posts blame President Obama for every I'll imaginable offering nothing more than their blind hate as proof; I weep for what my country has become.

It is pretty simple higher taxes poorer economy, lower taxes better economy and more jobs. More regulation more bureaucrats and more difficult to run a business. Unions tend to make things harder for a company. Taking from the "rich" and giving to the poor sounds good. If you want to study it more look up Marx, Karl.

From the article:

"And the types of jobs most available do not necessarily lend themselves to the skills of ex-soldiers."

"99%" of people would disagree with your tactic of false ambiguity.

No Job Skills going in, learned No Job Skills during, so No Job Skills when you get out.

Wayne Rout. I agree with you that some do not want Jobs, they where drifting before they went in and they will drift again. This covers all Vets, Male, Female and ALL Races.

We are not talking about those that Don't want Jobs, We are talking about those that Do want jobs. Lets stick to the right demographic.

Many people do not want to complete a Military Career for may reasons. Among them the seperation is brutal. Seperation do to training requirments is also hard. It may be a week or two or a month at a time, but its PRIME time.

I faced it 1972 and all Vets Face It, just something you do and overcome or in some cases you do not. You may discover that seperation was not the worst part of your marriage.

Being lost in Substance Abuse to include Food. (Don't look at me while I am drunk fatman and say your better then me).

Education and training are out there with the G.I. Bill but it takes time and does not pay off in the Now.

Many are all that they can be already and thats just the way it is. Many people who never served can't get jobs either or Don't want them. Plus serving is the last thing that would cross their minds.

The Army for me was one of the Best Jobs I ever had. However I could not keep the back end togeather. Today on a do over I would be Air Force and Single for 20 years.

I Remember as a New Vet in 1972-1973 the Min wage job in a Warehouse I took and how greatful I was for having it. 1 Wife, 2 kids small kids and a Run Down Apartment and a more then Run Down Car. Retread Tires (in Arizona) and the Plasma I sometimes sold to buy Bread, Milk, and Cheap Lunch Meat.

If I studied the G.I. Bill she was off to Air Base NCO CLub. If I worked Graveyard Shift she was goodness knows where.

She did work and for a few years thing where okay evan good. But as the jobs got better like with the State or National Guard. Then otherthings showed up.

The adjestment is hard and life is Not easy.

In the United States sometimes in order for a Family to Eat, Get Medical Care and other help to include job training the Male member of the Family "Must BE Absent" so sometimes a man to include a Vet will lose his family purely because he can't for what ever reason get a job.

The Study of the G.I. Bill came way later as a 2nd job to top off a real good 1st job and promote social interaction. The degree came way way after that but it did come.

Its about getting along and doing what you need to do and getting and staying sober, and finding the right person to be with. 25 good years but it took 40+ good and bad years some real bad, if you count growing up to get there.

Everyone is different and all needs are somewhat different. God is the final judge and your input is not required.

My2Cents: You have brought out a lot of good points, and caused me to do some rethinking on the subject, I do not want to agre with you but what you say carrys a lot of truth.

The trouble is if I was in the service today I would perhaps rethink getting the help I might need in order to avoid a label.

The Label Vet does not carry the value that it used to. Athough most Vets today are far ahead of the curve that I was on in 1972.

Short of being a Rent-A-Cop I would have done almost anything legal to get by during those years.

"I weep for what my country has become"

Aaron Conley joined the Air Force in 2007 because he couldn't find work at home. The unemployment rate has gotten a lot worse since Obama became president. "It's the economy, stupid" was a phrase in American politics widely used during Bill Clinton's successful 1992 presidential campaign against George H. W. Bush. You're going to see that phrase a lot more during the 2012 election campaign.

You are correct.

And what do we see, from both sides?

On the one:

**US nets 200k more jobs in December, a better-than-expected performance By Jeff Thredgold Deseret News 01/13/12

And on the other:

**'GOP rivals turn Romneys jobs record against him' - By Kasie Hunt - AP - Published by DSnews - 01/09/2012

'A separate AP analysis found that at least 4,000 workers lost their jobs at 45 companies bought by Bain...' article

Remember?

Nice cutting and pasting but it doesn't mean diddly squat to the voters who are worse off now than they were in 2008. They are turned off by the Occupy Wall Street protesters who burned the American Flag .... and vote for a new bus driver to get them out of the ditch Obama has driven them into.
