Thats brilliant!

Bronco needs to read this article.

Next year's T-shirt slogan "Get Nasty, in an appropriate way."

Love it!

BYU is doing winning without having state taxpayers subsidize it's athletic department at a rate of $6 million per year, like the UU. It amazes me that BYU, Utah State, and Weber State alums let a BCS program get away with heavy subsidies. Instead of subsidizing the BCS, the state should have a "BCS tax," and use it to bring schoolteachers pay up to national averages.

Holy cow! That is the most rediculous comment I've heard from a Y troll. Our taxes do not go towards Utah's athletic department. The athletic department at any school comes from private donations from alumni, booster clubs, television revenue, bowl and playoff revenue, ect. Your comment is like saying "BYU athletics is funded from our tithing". If that is true, I will never pay my tithing again. I have no idea where you get your made up numbers from, but you are making yourself look like a fool who is desperately trying to degrade the University of Utah.

As for this article. "Cougars get 'Nasty, in an appropriate way'". What an oxymoron this is. Ares is right! "Only at BYU" where they come up with these lame sayings and slogans.

FYI: This is a BYU article, therefore, rhappahannock is not a troll by default. However, you are.

BTW: rhappahannock's comments are a bit naive, but most Ute trolls commenting on BYU articles make rhappahannock look like a Rhode's scholar.

I kind of miss the MTN for hoops, but frankly, the WCC is an excellent basketball conference. Most of the games so far have been good, tough, games. St Mary's is real, for sure. The Zags and LMU are also very tough. This conference is no cakewalk, and I think will be a great conference for BYU hoops.

Small schools and great hoops are common in the East. That certainly is true for the WCC.

Its fun.

I was thrilled that Carlino was able to penetrate and make things happen -- and that the Cougars defended the three-ball of Gonzaga.

Hartsock said that the difference was in getting mentally prepared by the coaches. Finally!!!

I would love to see the Cougars continue this trend of tough, scrappy, intense defense. I hope they continue to attack the interior where they just murdered Gonzaga last night.

Finally!

Dear anti Y people: 'Get nasty in an appropriate way' was on a poster at the game last night. It was humorous after. Get a life. Thanks.

@Ares

Unlike at some other Utah basketball games, there was a fan there to hold up a poster...

Bleed, bleed some common sense into that mind of yours. BYU represents a church that has high standards, beliefs, and morals. Give props to the students who try to ring true to those standards and don't degrade themselves to horrible, nasty words and phrases those at usu. I'd rather die than be a student at that school where all they can do is hate.

I laud that student for being creative, appropriately, while trying to help the team get some fire back into them and win at home again.

So you must not be going to the school Max Hall went to.

I saw a sign at the Utey game with a pic of Ben Stein on it that read: "Ute fans? Ute fans?"

Fan in Orem is right just like Max.

For those who doubted my $6 million figure for UU subsidies, google Deseret News and "have-nots" to see this gem:

"with about $6 million coming from the university and student fees to make ends meet, according to athletic director Chis Hill"

Money that should be going to education is going to fund the UU athletic department. In contrast, tithing does not fund the BYU athletic department.

Fans of BYU, Utah State, Weber State and the other universities in the state should take advantage of the opportunity to fight the BCS where it counts - with money. A BCS tax could work just like a typical research grant to a university - half to a third goes to "overhead." In this case a good use for the overhead would be to increase the salaries of schoolteachers to national averages - a true win-win for the state.

In the meantime, it looks like the Pac 10.2 is the third best conference in the west this year. BYU pressed Gonzaga defensively in a way that will win them games come tourney time. If we can get our 3 pointers clicking, we will be tough to beat.
